People are complaining about the cruise control feature, but I think its pretty awesome for long distance driving. Pilots use auto pilot all the time during long cruise flights to allocate resources to other items in the cockpit, why can't truckers do the same?
But honestly...If the truck can drive all of the motorway miles all by itself, why even have a driver. Make "self driving" truck hubs near motorways and let the automation do the driving on motorways. Imagine if a self driving truck was hooked up to a trailer and then it drove 1000 miles all by itself and then just drove into a truck hub near the destination and from there, a "normal" truck with a driver, could transport the trailer to the destination. Motorway driving is not that difficult to do autonomously. Think about it. 1. All vehicles travel in the same direction 2. There is no cross traffic, and on and off ramps are very long giving the truck good time to spot a car on the onramp In the beginning they could maybe only allow these trucks from 10 pm to 6 am where the traffic on most motorways is low. Honestly, they should start allowing trucks like that. Could even be electric trucks, with swap technology batteries, and then they just go to a truck hub and get the battery changed every 3-4 hours. No need for a driver to sleep, no need for the driver to stop and go to the toilet and no driver to overlook a row of stopped cars.

The side displays must be located above the Eye Level , to avoid offside angular lower end blind spot. The huge pillers or any barriers create deadly blind spot specially @ country roads .

I am driving this truck now, it doesn't have the automatic steering enabled but everything else is as in the video. Only difference is that driver clearly never hitched a trailer, no 5th wheel grease all over his shirt. Why do you have to lean right in over the wheel arch to reach the dog pin and the 5th wheel release handle? They make trucks which can drive themselves but you still get filthy hitching the trailers on.

The trucks apparently run autopilot on the highway. Drivers still have to control the vehicle on other parts of the road, esp during periods of heavy traffic. This truck will probably cost an arm and a leg, drivers can't afford them anw.

It still feels we are very far away from autonomous driving. It’s one thing to have computerized aids while driver is in control and another to totally step away from the drivers seat.
Imagine having the seat rolled away like in the video, you take a nap and suddenly it wakes you up to a "You have 20 seconds to take over steering" Honestly, that is kind of a harsh way to be woken up. If you are deep sleeping, you are not able to wake up and be fully alert and ready to take over i 20 seconds.
I hope this never comes real, this is my mum’s account and I am still a kid and I wish I could feel the real driving experience, so I hope this truck will not ever come.

I am driving this truck now, it doesn't have the automatic steering enabled but everything else is as in the video. Only difference is that driver clearly never hitched a trailer, no 5th wheel grease all over his shirt. Why do you have to lean right in over the wheel arch to reach the dog pin and the 5th wheel release handle? They make trucks which can drive themselves but you still get filthy hitching the trailers on.

The trucks apparently run autopilot on the highway. Drivers still have to control the vehicle on other parts of the road, esp during periods of heavy traffic. This truck will probably cost an arm and a leg, drivers can't afford them anw.

It still feels we are very far away from autonomous driving. It’s one thing to have computerized aids while driver is in control and another to totally step away from the drivers seat.
Imagine having the seat rolled away like in the video, you take a nap and suddenly it wakes you up to a "You have 20 seconds to take over steering"
Honestly, that is kind of a harsh way to be woken up. If you are deep sleeping, you are not able to wake up and be fully alert and ready to take over i 20 seconds.
