      BS. I think R9 was fantastic, I was there to see him play......and his legend is being blown out of proportion. He was impressive because he dribbled at high speeds and was super direct towards goal. But that's not the ONLY way to be good at football. He stands out from his peers because of his speed dribbling.
      Even Romario, from Brazil too, for me is a better 9.....and people always forgot him.
      Your comment is based on the simplistic football narratives. And people like you ALWAYS have to teach others who the "GOAT"s are. You know Zidane was great...but you have no clue how close Rui Costa and othesr were to him at the time. You hear of two season that were good with Ronaldinho and think he also needs to be a GOAT......
      R9 was great...but he had his carreer cut short.

    People forget that R9 destroyed the greatest defenders in history. Maldini, Cannavaro, Nesta, Costacurta, Ayala, Stam, Desailly, Puyol, Thuram. What’s even more impressive is that after his career threatening injuries he was written off before the 2002 World Cup, he hardly played for 2/3 years before. Then goes to the WC, finishes top scorer and 2 in the final.
    Also, he changed football. Modern strikers play the way they do today because of R9, Romario and George Weah, but in particular R9. He played like a winger, but through the middle and football hadn’t seen that before. Dropping deep to get the ball then running at defenders. And when he ran at them, he was UNSTOPPABLE. O FENÔMENO

    Messi came from barcelona academy, play the style of barcelona, mentored by ronaldinho, xavi, iniesta, having played for the first team since he was 16, 3 years later at 19 destroying madrid with a hat-trick and ankara messi to getafe.
    On the other side though, 19 yers old R9 just arrived at barca the day before spanish super cup vs atletico with no time to adapt after coming from lesser league, no 3 years of ronaldinho and co mentoring, never in the la masia, AND SCORED 2 GOALS IN THE SPANISH SUPER CUP WHILE STILL HAVING JET LAG. THAT'S WHY A MANAGER AT MOURINHO STATURE SAID IT OVER AND OVER AND OVER "CRAZY, CRAZY,CRAZY" "THE BEST PLAYER I'VE SEEN ON THE PITCH". I find very interesting when the current generation of soccer fans say thar CR7 or Messi are the best players of all times. They clearly don`t know much about the game. At the same time, it is understandable, as it is easier to see what`s happening now than to find videos of R9 on youtube and make clear comparisons. You can only tell the difference if you actually saw R9 playing and you see whats happening today. R9 is the real G.O.A.T(period)

      Ronaldos arrival at PSV was less special for us because we already saw the Brazilian style with Romario for 5 years.
      Before Romario, there was young Maradonna dribbling for Napoli. Doing things nobody ever done before.
      Ronaldo one of the greats. No doubts.

    • @jorgemartinbg
      @jorgemartinbg 6 месяцев назад

      if you think messi is the first false 9, man you have a lot to learn. I think Messi is one of the greatest offensive players and one of most gifted handling a ball. That's undisputed, but he has not impacted the actual sport. I think Holland of the 70's did, perhaps Pele made the 10 position look spectacular and inspired 10's for the rest of the sport's history. But change it? i dont know? Im a sport enthusiast and Ive seen tons of fooatge of legends and Im still in my search for the guys that changed the game, kind of like Oscar robertson in basketball. All that being said, I think messi is the best player since prime kaka, dinho and cristiano in man u. He has benefited from a cleaner game, like a lot of offensive players have ( retiring close to 40), and he is fitting for the era@@markfish1113

    It's not real when ppl say that a player carreer is over just because he left Europe to play elsewhere. Like Ronaldo at Corintians, Ronaldinho also was still really good when he was playing at Flamengo and Atlético Mineiro when he left Europe, Marcelo and Felipe Melo just won the '' champions league '' equivalent for Fluminense on South America and Cristiano Ronaldo is still doing the best in Saudi league. So no, leaving Europe does not mean your carreer is over nor does mean youre not a good player anymore . Best 9 i've ever seen in my life Ronaldo. amazing dance at world cup 98 . You can *_still_* see in his facial expressions, how much Ronaldo blew his mind back then. Zidane & Seedorf have said, that he was the best player they'd played with & that he did things in training, they'd never seen before or since.
    Injuries cruely robbed him off his full potential, *_fully_* unloaded.
    I think his game was a tad route-one & lacked the variation that Pelé - Cruyff -Maradona-Messi, had to their game. Therefore, I'd rank him slightly below those players.

      @@thebengalurubong2047 also, remember that most of those kids come from nothing and suddenly they are multimillionaire teenagers who live abroad, playing in front of huge crowds and having the best looking women wanting to spend time with them (Romario has entered the chat...), its easy to get carried away towards a rock star life style in those circumstances and yeah, once you do, you won't train well if you are sleepless or on a hangover.
      Adriano was different, his situation evolved to a full on mental health issue that unfortunately he couldn't get over
