- Aamir Khan's Sarfarosh was released on April 30, 1999 and it gave him a break from the romantic hero image that he had. In this video, I share my memories from 25 years ago when the film released.

Awesome content Jamie and yes Ashutosh Gowarikar's Baazi is highly underrated. SARFAROSH was Brilliant Film by John Mathew Mathan. Jatin Lalit's music the famous ghazal by Jagjit Singh. Superb performances by all. And awesome dialogues. The hasn't dated it is still good to watch. 🎬🎥🎞🤘🏻🎥

I, too watched this movie thrice in cinema when released.
23rd May, 1999. I was all geared up for Ind vs Ken WC match. Heard the news that the CBSE 10th results were out. I rushed to my principal's home along with a friend. Fortunately, that was a false rumour. To celebrate it, we directly went to theater and watched Sarfarosh. Back from the movie, I came across another good news, Sachin scored 140* as a dedication to his father. All in all, a memorable day.

This was the only film which I watched in theatre with my father.. It is my father's one of the fav film.. I consider this one of the best film of Aamir khan..
There was something about 90s Aamir Khan and his movies made in the 90s. Simply Magical.
Aamir and sonali 's acting was awesome. The songs in this film are evergreen especially Jo haal dil ka and iss deewane ladke ko.
I watch it everytime when it comes on TV. ❤
Going from parents place to my company quarters on bike, May 1999 , I saw poster outside theatere with Mr N Shah shown prominently.
I am fan of Nasiruddin Shah from 70s . I decided to watch film on the spot. I took the ticket and went in. I missed first 15 minutes. By intervel I am totally flown away. By the end , fully frozen like all in the hall.
I came out took ticket again and watched back to back.
Then in next 2 years, i watched it in theaters in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Surat and more. Total might be not less than 67 times in theatre.

I could never forget the tremendous ghazal of jagjit singh hoshwaalo ko Khabar kya.Whenever this used to telecast on tv I specially watch this movie to see this particular song.

Sarfarosh is such a timeless movie! I used to love its screening on 26th Jan or 15th Aug and wouldn't miss it!

My family still remember your father acting skills.
I remember having watched it on one Satellite channel namely Zee and was spellbound by everything in it.Aamir's dialogues were enough to evoke patriotism in us.Ever fetched in my memory is the scene in which he says "Yeh tumhara ya mera mamla nahi balki mere mulk ka mamla hai".The style with which he says those words is charismatic.The song "Iss Deewane Ladke ko" had crackling chemistry between hero and heroine albeit in a comic way.
One of my favourite Aamir Khan movies ever. Thanks for bringing back fond memories.
I saw this movie in a single screen theatre which has since been converted to a Car showroom .

The Story is like a gripping detective novel , keeping you engaged with all its twists and turns .
The Songs are memorable and unlike most Bollywood movies , these songs help in moving forward the storyline .
The performances of every character however small leaves it's effect on the narrative .
And of course , Aamir Khan the Perfectionist .
Watching this movie , not once did I think it was Aamir Khan the superstar , it seemed like it actually was Ajay Singh Rathore , a real person .

'Sarfarosh' is one of my favorite movies, and I have watched it many times. When it released in 1999, I watched it twice in cinema halls, as did my sister, who later joined Indian army as a doctor! The film was bubbling with patriotism, and had great cinematic videos. Sad that its director didn't make more such movies later. John Matthew did make 'Shikhar' some years after 'Sarfarosh', but it was not entertaining that much, and was rather on a serious side. So the film flopped. 'Sarfarosh' remains among the best and most loved movies of Aamir Khan.
You post really interesting videos. Keep it up, Jamie. Also like the way you address your late father as 'Pitaji'. May his soul rest in peace.
Amazing Movie of that time, Brilliant Performance by Aamir Khan and Naseeruddin Shah
Aamir was my favourite as well. He was the only one among the Big 3 Khans whose good films far outnumbered the bad ones. With the other two, it was the other way around. I am superhappy that Dangal is the biggest hit of our country and not some rubbish Yash Raj/Kjo film. And yes, it's no surprise that Tom saab and you appreciated Aamir for his trailblazing work -- films that actually took Bollywood forward.

As a young person in his late teens, Sarfarosh and Vaastav gave me an understanding of the dicotomy of Crime and Law. How society and politics creates criminals and how Law removes them. They both sides start as innocent , but the environment and life create the mosnters and heroes on both sides. Criminals who are better than Police and Police that are actually heroes.

It is meaningless to say "turns 25 years." If it is a serial that has been running for 25 years, then we may say it has turned 25 years. DDLJ has been showing in a theater in Mumbai for many years continuously. So we can say celebrating 10 or20 years of its running in this theater. But it is meaningless to say a particular film has completed or turns 25 years.
