Daley Levine That's just how previous generations felt about the music in the nineties. Much of the same was said about 90's music. The art/music that came out in the 90s was just right for that generation much like what is coming out now is just right for this generation. In my opinion, there is a lot of really grest music being released today. You can see how much many current artist are influenced by 90s artist. An example of really great current music would be Sampha's debut album Process. I highly disagree with your assessment of Kelela. She may be different from what you prefer but that doesn't make her talentless.

I don't know where I've been the last couple of years that I'm only just hearing this song now, but I'm sold. This is a vibe I didn't know I needed. This song sounds so fresh and new while also sounding retro and familiar
It's refreshing to see great music being released by women my age. Don't get me wrong, I love what a lot of the younger women are doing too, but we don't get to see a whole lot of women in their mid 30s breaking into music. It's almost always legacy acts who have been around for a decade or more, or newcomers who are in their teens and 20s that are dominating the scene.
No matter how we found it, no matter when we found it, we are extremely lucky to be able to experience this song.
