    I think CAMR missile batteries will also be on offer for Ukraine: These missiles are much cheaper and a better option to bring down slow flying drones, while the Expensive Aster 30 will focus on protecting from Ballistic and Cruise missiles shot form far away by ships and Russian bombers.
    It's a bit cynic to say, but dealing with real weapons will offer invaluable data to tweak and improve performances for MBDA

    • @咖哩余
      @咖哩余 Год назад +1

      This begs the market demand for incoming ballistic missiles and drones to be able to broadcast signature signals that show them as drones (for missiles) and as missiles (for drones) so as to trigger the wrong response from the defenders to send the inadequate countermeasures...

    • @Leptospirosi
      @Leptospirosi 10 месяцев назад

      @@咖哩余 I think speed and distance will dictate the use of the missile, if options are available in place.
      This being told, missiles are not the solution against slow moving targets: as we are seeing in the red sea, 80% of the drones and cruise missile intercepted were brought down by the 76/62 at about 6km distance, making it the most effective air defence for military objectives, Not so much for large city areas.
      A Draco 76mm system would do wonders in Ukraine if available, being so much more range effective then the current 25/30mm, especially in round consumption.

    you said in the video that i can detect ballistic missiles up to 1,000km away. yet the radar can only detect up to 120km. whats the point of having a missile capable of 1000km when the radar is only 120. or did you just make a mistake. cause the missile size is about the same as the patriot which is 250 ish km range

    • @derekhenschel3191
      @derekhenschel3191 11 месяцев назад +2

      The naval varient can intercept missiles up to 1000km away. With the right radar and boosters the land one probably can aswell but. Since Ukraine doesn't need to cover that much ground with it they use a less expensive shorter range radar rather than wasting a massive one

    • @seinfeld11123
      @seinfeld11123 11 месяцев назад

      @@derekhenschel3191 no the creator is just wrong. the version in Ukraine has range of 100-120 km so the 1000km is obviously a typo. the NG version which is being made now will increase to 150km
      its a little weird the wording. it says its capable of tracking and detecting SRBM of 1500km and MRBM of 3000 miles. which is just a way of confusing it. it doesn't matter what range the ballistic missiles have. it only matters when it detects and when it can intercept them. and that is track with radar at 150-100km

    • @derekhenschel3191
      @derekhenschel3191 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@seinfeld11123 also the reason they use those terms for what range of ballistic missile they can intercept is because ballistic missiles are categorized by there range because the longer range it is the bigger it is. So for instance that means that it can successfully intercept a ballistic missile built to have a range of 3000 km. But if it had to hit a ballistic missile with a range of 10000km then it might not have the mass and explosives to completely destroy it. It's the same reason why in Iraq patriot battery's could intercept iraqi scuds but they would still hit targets because the earlier missiles didn't have the mass, speed, or payload required to completely destroy the entire missile

    • @seinfeld11123
      @seinfeld11123 11 месяцев назад

      @@derekhenschel3191 i understand it, so do you, but the creator interpreted that as if the air defense system could detect a SRBM at 1000km and intercept out to 1000km. which is just impossible. as i said. the wording they used is a little naughty and its easy to just interpret it at 1000km is the detection range...
      I doubt even s400/500 cld do those numbers we both have seen how bad the s300/400 has done in Ukraine

      Not when that drone is about to take out something more valuable than an aster 30... Although I doubt they are being used any where near the front line where you would see these drones. More likely being used to protect bases or ammo dumps where a 100% hit chance is needed and the value of the target is high. I think another reason Ukraine is getting this system is because they are scared things might escalate to nuclear. This system fills a vital role in Ukraine's IADS(integrated air defense systems) providing long range defense against ballistic missiles at ranges around 80km. I don't see why this would be used to take out a drone generally speaking. It would be like hammering a nail with a sledge hammer. The right tool for this job would be SHORAD systems(short range air defense). Something like a gepard or zsu 23, or any number of other systems.
