    if I could go back in time in '67, my muscle car of choice would've been a '67 440 GTX.

      I second that. Either the 440 GTX or Coronet r/t. The 426 Hemi is the baddest big block you could buy in the muscle car era in my opinion but wasnt really a street engine. Only reason Chrysler installed it in passenger cars is so they could use it in NASCAR. If I went back to 1968, I'd buy a 383 4 speed Road Runner or Super Bee. For '69, an A12 Road Runner or Super Bee 440+6

    V8TV+ This question doesn't concern the feature car. But, it's about the owners (the Brothers). When did they start collecting cars, and how long did it take to get to their current number of cars? Much respect to those guys for keeping these keepers alive.

    if I could go back, I would the 1970 amc javelin sst, with the high compression 5.0L motor with a nice 4speed. Really have some fun on the track.

    The best Mustangs in my opinion are the 1967 Shelby 350's and 500's.

    You can wind these suckers up to about 6K RPM and they still perform flawlessly. Fun cars to put through the paces ;)

    I have owned several Shelby's in the 60's and 70's. Once you get bitten by the Shelby snake they are a all time favorite . I now own a 2008 Shelby GT. Nice but not the cool factor of the early days.

    Exterior color of this Shelby is called Lime Gold or Gold Lime Metallic. This was a standard Ford exterior color for 1967. You could get a Shelby with a standard Ford exterior color, or one of the three Shelby only colors - Bronze, Dark Blue or Medium Grey...

    Shelby himself said that the 67 was the best all around Shelby Mustang! They were still performance cars, just had luxury as well....from 68 on they were ford's products using Shelby as the name.

    This car reminds me of a few of the Boss Mustang features. Question; is the K Code 289 the platform for the Boss 302?

    • @Johnnycdrums
      @Johnnycdrums 4 года назад

      Yes, but the Boss was factory rated at 290 h.p., and could easily be tweaked for a difference you could feel by only changing the carb venturi's and distributor.

    I've always preferred the GT350s to the GT500s. The 350s were an actual unique Shelby build while the 500s were built by Ford with Shelby's name licensed to it. I also love the fact that Shelby offered a Paxton supercharger option for these that would take the output even higher than the big block GT500. I've just always thought of these pony cars as more of a lightweight high winding corner carver while the mid-sizes like the Chevelles and Roadrunners were the big block strip bruisers. Now if the GT500 had the Ford 427 in it id love it (apparently 1 was built for Shelby and it set a lot of records) but a 428 just isn't special enough for me, even if it does have dual quads

    Hey the centre lights WERE high beams in a 4 light system NOT driving lights..... 24yrs owner of 67 GT500
    They all came with only one roll bar and the totally new inertial reel Y belt shoulder harness mounted on the roll bar. I still have the sales brochure from 1967 showing the early high mounted brake lights in the upper side scoops. .
    Where is the choke cable or the correct carb?

    • @bgd73
      @bgd73 8 лет назад

      +10susan10 Great facts. And.. once compression went beyond a certain number, chokes have no value. I ran an 11 to 1 in the 90s. The real numbers, old 2 valve, tiny chambers, pings, disasters etc. Choke worthless.

    • @10susan10
      @10susan10 8 лет назад

      +boxer3main Apparently you never ran in 10-20* temps.. Had to drive my 70 Boss 9 in January location right off the Cdn border and choke was very needed without pumping a lot of gas to keep it running... More so my point is IF its a collector car then I would think the people running the collection would either want it correct - auto choke - or put a choke cable on to look correct. After all they are using that dumb early centre float carb. Never owned a 67 350 but pretty sure a friend's was an auto choke. my 500 was.

    • @dicarlo57
      @dicarlo57 8 лет назад

      +10susan10 what is a 'boss 9"? maybe "auto chokes" should be installed on ass-backward canadians to keep them from spewing their opinions

    • @10susan10
      @10susan10 8 лет назад +2

      +dicarlo57 you poor little boy - I stated close to the Cdn border NOT in Canada .. apparently your limited knowledge of what Boss 429 OWNERS called their cars. Comments from an OWNER of more than a dozen Shelbys Boss 9 & CJs along with a few GTX Bees GSS AMX Rebels Chargers Cudas Challengers AAR Judge 442 SS Z28 We made our living dealing and building these cars WHEN they were NEW not in someone's dreams -- Drove them in the winter as they were just daily drivers to most of us.

    In 1976 I had a friend who wanted to trade his Gt350 convertible for my brand new 76 Monte Carlo, at the time I said no way! Wish I new then what I know now.

    on American muscle car the Mustang DVD they talk about 1 Mustang. I believe the factory built because the Vietnam vets were coming home buying muscle cars and getting killed , wrecking them. They built an 8-second Mustang 1 got wrecked in shipping and the other one they showed. Does anyone own this ?thanks Kevin.

    Beautiful 67 GT350 but my favorite Shelby will always be the 65 GT350. In fact the 65 GT350 is probably my favorite Mustang period besides maybe a 69-70 Boss 302

    If I could go back?
    I'd get a 68 Firebird RAII convertible. It would be 1 of 1. And would smoke any Mustang in a street race with the top down.
    My GF with mini skirt and go go boots would stick out her tongue as we pulled away..........aghhhh.
