      The Lynch Dune was a little weird. Instead of Paul teaching the Fedaykin the Weirding Way, he taught them how to use machines called the "Weirding Module". It was essentially a microphone and a high powered megaphone. Kind of a dumb idea. He could have just shown Paul teaching them ninjutsu or something, and it would have been acceptable.

      It completely changed my life, and still for me is one of the coolest gadgets ever even after reading the book. Before I read the book I saw it as a natural extension of weaponising the voice.
      Lynch is weird, but he just made a personal choice as the director (who worked with Frank Herbert btw who loved Lynch film except the ending) not to use the martial arts because he didn't think it would be as interesting on film and just look like kung fu in the desert.

    • @Henbot

      Lynch is a genius director and when anchored he can really make magnificent stuff, but it also had one of the greatest set and costume designers in the business at the time who worked and won Oscars for 2001. A lot of the actors also had read the book and fans including Kyle MacLachlan who played Paul, Frank Herbert doubted him at first but when he chatted with Kyle he learnt he was in a fact a Dune Superfan and really grasped the character.

      @NovusIgnis 3 месяца назад +2

      @@NeverDauntedRadioNetworkWhich he is. Regardless of what the overarching message of the series is, Paul *IS* a hero to these people. So his speech should sound like a hero's speech.
      The new movie went way to far into the narrative of "strange white man is evil" and just completely ruins the whole tone of the story with that.

    • @joosoo
      @joosoo 3 месяца назад +3

      @@NovusIgnis You completely missed the point of the books if you think the movie framing Paul as a hypocrite is ruining it. You're supposed to walk away from the story questioning if Paul is a villain despite being referred to as a hero and messiah.

    • @NovusIgnis
      @NovusIgnis 3 месяца назад +5

      @@joosoo No, I *got* the point of the book. Despite whatever you may think in this modern era, Paul *is* a hero. He is liberating a planet from the oppressive rule of the galactic empire, and the fact that a prophecy was manufactured about someone like him doesn't change that fact. He's leaning into it as a tool to stoke their fervor and make them even more effective fighters, but at no point does he disregard or treat them as lesser.
      _He gives his water for the dead._ Did you happen to forget that? A detail that they comotley ignore in this movie but is critical in showing that Paul sees the Fremen as human beings, actual people with inherent value. They are not tools or pawns like they make it seem in the movie. It takes away the Atreides leadership and loyalty that he leads with.
      In the books, the Fremen worship him and follow him as much for that loyalty as for the fact that they think he's their messiah, which he actually is since he's doing the things that will lead them to their green paradise. The fact that the tales of their messiah were planted by the Bene Gesserit is irrelevant. In the book, they follow Paul because he is worth following. They would have followed him prophecy or no prophecy. He's the best fighter, he can see the future, he knows the ways of the dessert without even being Fremen. He wouldn't be the first stranger that they took into their fold, as evidenced by Liet Kynes or Duncan Idaho. He would have quickly risen in their ranks and gained the trust, respect, and loyalty of all the Fremen, just like he did. The fact that he could see into the future would just cement that.
      The only reason we're even having this discussion now is because Hollywood added in this false conflict with Chani so Zendaya could pretend to be a girl boss and rage against all the white people. It's just more leftist propaganda like always.

    First book I read cover to cover as a young girl.
    STILL ADDICTED TO THIS FUTURE MESSIAH STORYLINE!
    Everyone loves a savior story.
    The moment we rented this movie on VHS and the TV version (which has the voice narrative by actors in whole movie as thoughts and the BEST VERSION EVER)! Kyle will always be the best choice for Paul.
    Then the 90’s remake with different actors was good in its own way.
    Dune in 2000 is a great translation of the book as well. I can’t wait for them all to be finished, released so I can watch them back to back like a true DUNE NERD!
    You never want Dune to stop grasping the next generation of sci fi / Messiah addicts & creators who love a store of hope of Salvation from the vile Nero sick’o violent oppressor.

      @@netcurtainsJust seen it, part 2 is the best movie I've seen in the last 20 years. People applauded at the end of the movie 🔥🔥🔥The original movie was good for the time but it was trying to do too much for one film and the character development was weak at best.

      @@jeanblier8571Meanwhile the new film had plenty of time to develop all of the things that it needed to, and then it didn't.
