Good neo-psych. Also, extremely faithful to its stylistic roots in containing the occasional musical detour - and in not being tasteful to the point of being dull, where tastefulness becomes oppressive and an end in itself. This really sounds like something that could have been recorded in 1968 or 1982 (except for the better sound quality), and I mean that as a compliment.
Not sure about that...the original 60s bands didn't explore the common-ground b/t surf and the emerging folk-rock/psych as much as bands like the Growlers, Allah Las, and esp. La Luz, did. Things were moving too fast for such a thing! That possible stylistic territory was similarly unmined by the 80s Paisely Underground and Garage bands. La Luz has gotten less surfy with this album and the last, but aspects of it continue on in their work. People slag on millennials and music, for many good reasons, and people whine about repetition and recycling of styles, but the truth about the underground millennial bands like La Luz is that in some ways, they are better than the originals--more lessons have been learned over the years, I guess, certain recipes improved.
great!!
