    Absolutely beautiful. A meditative experience. After a busy day yesterday I put this video on, laid on the couch, spring breeze blowing through the open windows, and fell into the deepest sleep in recent memory.

      Thanks, that's really sweet of you to say. I wasn't really thinking of this as a meditative piece, but maybe its not as rough as I thought.

    Love experiments. Good views…make something that’s truly rare…sounds great in the cans amigo!! Variable wave LFO is a must I agree.

      Thanks man. I honestly don't know why more synths don't come with variable LFO options. Most LFOs are digital these days, it doesn't seem like it would be difficult addition.

    Super helpful!!! I've been wondering if the Kobol can do this, before buying it, and here you are doing this amazingly! Really cool piece!

      Thanks. It sounds so much better than I was expecting for the price. Absolute killer drone synth.

    If it had variable waveshape LFOs to match the oscillators, it would be a dream monosynth. This is possible. Each oscillator can be used as a complex lfo. The osc can do down to 10 hz, it can go even slower using the voltage processor. You could also use an external offset to make it go extremely slow. Cheers.

      Thank you! That's some super detailed and very helpful information. I still think it would be cool if the LFOs themselves were variable wave shapes, but using the oscillators is a smart trick. Still crazy to think this thing was originally designed nearly half a century ago.

    Sticking a cable in gate in with nothing on the other end makes it drone.
    Then put one in vco mod in breaks the lfo dignal path.
    Lfo out 1 back into lfo rate for some fun.
    Audio out back in vcf audio in.
    Crazy drones sounds for sure.
    Wonderful machine.

    The quadralons are unhappy and they are letting us know it 😮

      Ha ha. I've gotten mixed feedback on this one. I thought it sounded like a horror soundscape, but others seem to find it weirdly relaxing. People are different. Quadralons, I'm not so sure...🙃

    Fantastic drone piece. It strange because I use the term « horror drone » to qualify my last track published today on my channel, and this evening I discover that you had the same idea before me 🤣

      I think there are probably a lot of horror drone pieces out there. It's definitely a genre that lends itself to spooky soundtracking. I'll check out your channel.

    This is awesome !!!! I’ve set my Kobol up just like this but couldn’t get anywhere near this sound. Is this just one track? What effects are you using? Really nice sounding drone !!!!

    • @riotbell5365
      @riotbell5365  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah, just one track no overdubbing or post processing. I don't know what happened, but the Kobol just started droning and wouldn't stop. I figured I'd take the opportunity to record it. There's a hefty amount of reverb which might explain what you're not hearing. Valhalla Super Massive is what I'd recommend if you're looking for something free!

    Great drone! Not a critique but it’s voltage controllable, just add as many LFOs as desired.. Get a Maths and you’re pretty much sorted.

    • @riotbell5365
      @riotbell5365  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! Yeah, I realize you can do a ton with all the patch points. I actually have a Maths. It's just kind of a dream to have a fully self-contained semi-modular that can function as an epic drone synth in isolation (kind of defeats the point of modular, I suppose). The Expander is wildly versatile for what it is.
