This is literally why I love ian somerhalder, him and his wife's relationship is amazing and I love how they care so much for the environment and animals, I've always wanted to be a wildlife rehabilitator and the fact that I find out my favorite actor is actually an animal lover is cool because a lot of the time u can never know if an actor is a good person in real life but with ian you can truly see he cares about the world and it is so mesmerizing of what a difference hes made, it's truly what I inspire to be when I get older.

I love this. He’s always been one of my favorite actors. But now that I found out that we share a love for animals and advocate for animals (I advocate for mostly Exotics). He is officially my favorite actor!!!

He’s right about taking pets for a check up annually. Many times can really save their life.
Yeah but the thing is that's only possible when you don't have too many animals or enough money. In my country medical care for human is free but not for animals. We took so many stray animals and only have food to feed them and not for an annual checkup. One of our cat has a pretty serious eye ulcer and we had to pay 200 bucks for basic medical treatment and only for 60% chance or recovery. We don't even have that money but we love him so much we didn't him to loose his sight. Plus at the checkup the vet told us he needed some flea treatment and dental cleaning. I mean, we had to tell him we can only afford for the eye treament and they look at us like we don't love our animal. The nerve on them...so bottomline medical care should be free for ALL not only humans.
@@genevieverenaud2537 AGREE WITH YOU 100% especially for people who rescue strays. At least med care for animals should be subsidized partially. Are you in France? Anyway perhaps you can try research on natural remedies for your beloved pets? Some can be helpful & cheaper than vets drugs. Eg, chicken soup/broth & pure coconut water is helpful for weak & dehydrated cats.
@@genevieverenaud2537 Some cats eye condition can be helped with cheap cat eye drop, cheap antibiotic tablets/liquid & healthy food & vitamins. You can try shop those around online. Good luck 👌💞
@@blackwidownsw9509 Yeah i know you can even get the human equivalent at the drug store. I checked for the eye ulcer, but i couldn't find anything similar online and his problem was a matter of great urgency. He could have lost his eye if we waited any longer. So i guess it was kind of a no brainer. Is it easier to get cheap antibiotic and medicine in the States ? Because where i live in Canada we have free healthcare but it costs so much for animals. ;(
@@blackwidownsw9509 Yeah they put a price on our love for animals. I hate going to the vet for that reason, because they look at you as if you don't take care of your animal because they have some flea or some dental calculus. Everytime i want to tell them we saved these poor cats and they would probably be dead if we didn't take them in. I live in Canada, free healthcare but expensive ones for pets and animals.

I had the same exact color & type of cats like Ian's Hawaian ginger cat! I helped & fostered many moggies over the decade. Some sad & some wonderful moments. Thankful to receive their love & affection..They are a blessing & loving companion..🐈🐈💖

I love to discover other animal advocates! Ian can do so much more good as a public figure, just spreading the word like this! I've been a fierce advocate since my early 20's, and I'm in my 60's now. I was a cruelty investigator/Veterinary surgical tech as my job with the county Vet. Some of the cruelties we arrested people for in those days were so horrific that I still have nightmares many years later. Right now I'm retired, have 3 dogs and 2 recently rescued kittens, so a lot for my small home, but they are loved, happy, well fed and see the Vet regularly. If I could, I would thank Ian and his lovely wife for their kindness and awareness video.
