There have been a lot of great and unexpected plot twists, but I have to say my favorite was the season 1 finale, Katherine pretending to be Elena. It was the first time we really saw Katherine, and she starts off by making out with Damon and chopping Jonathon Gilbert's fingers off; classic Katherine

It’s weird how actors have to think hard to remember other characters names when we as fans would think that they are so used to the names. For example when Candice struggled to remember Damon & Elena. It means that those names are not natural for them which does make sense but at the same time it doesnt from my perspective.
