    Those two little wedges really make this a very secure bond. A whole lot of strength in this joint, super for permanent construction work.

    Another nice joint, that could be used as a vertical extension, or with a slight adaptation for a bottom and top frame for a wooden framed building, if you keep on with these wonderful joints, I'll have enough to begin making my shed. Though we're a little short of such large chunks of fig wood here in Wales.

      You’re correct however that’s why these joints were invented hundreds of generations ago before they had mechanical fixings of any kind and they needed a bond that would hold for hundreds of years without any glue or nails or screws

    You would never get a machine to do it as perfect , chisels as sharp as samurai swords , made from the same metal formula , so they stay sharp , but most important , in the hands of a master craftsman
