Hum... I wonder why he didn't try to do physically accurate water simulation, especially when most of the "hyper" costly simulation is out of sight. Truly mind-boggling. I guess we will never know.
the degree of computational complexity is increased due to the extra dimension. Say terraria water physics is O(n), allowing for very realistic physics (besides the odd fluid duplication behavior) without running into any problems unless you decide to drain an entire ocean at once. Minecraft water physics would be O(n^2), so instead of repeatedly doing calculations for finite water physics (note the finite water mod sort of cheats by making oceans infinite sources so digging up into one doesn't crash your game), it does pathfinding from a source block to lower ground, takes every path with the same cost in manhattan distance simultaneously, and leaves it at that until the source is removed or any water block along the stream is updated. Here having water pathfind to low ground would be O(n^3), so even if it is well optimized, having even the behavior Minecraft does could stress a CPU and/or GPU, especially considering one source block could potentially produce thousands if not millions of flowing blocks, so it just sort of just fans out if it's on ground and falls down if it's on air, with falling not resetting the water level of the next flowing water block, because doing that instead is O(n^2) complexity at the end of it due to the last flowing calculations' combined cost being based off the surface area of a (2n + 1)^3 cube in the worst case (even this can produce a total of 3374 flowing blocks from 1 source block at 7 max flow distance in 4D). Here n is the max flow distance.

On way to diminish the complexity would be to use nodes from a space partitioning tree (would it be called an hexa-tree then?) instead of just using the tiles to compute the water simulation. If this were to diminish the complexity enough you could even swap from cell water simulation to hyper-ball water simulation near the surface to simulate accurately the water surface, without computing the whole body of water accurately. And with all this work I don't even know if it could run properly lol. 4D is just too vast.
i love the concept of water moving you through the 4th dimension and making you dizzy and i think this game needs ships. i think being a pirate on a 4D ocean would be so sick.

To be fair, the developer hasn't been good at updating people. I don't even see anything about this on their Patreon, just a poll nearly a year ago asking 'Seasons or Water', nothing about it already being done. I also really don't like that Patreon is the only place to see this, _and_ that the development updates are locked to patrons.

Please allow us to put two different types of slabs on top of each other, this is one of the main things that pisses me of with Minecraft and would be amazing to have.
Scroll to do rotations, from the gameplay vids I've seen thus far it's only rotated on one axis to avoid this very problem I assume. I haven't tried this but I assume you can still use quaternions in 4d, but you need to account for the 4th axis where objects can rotate around 6 independent planes (XY, XZ, XW, YZ, YW, & ZW)
Could you port it to mobile + procedurally walking spiders(or something that resembles a spider but looks cool and interesting to fight) that can climb walls?

When you play in multiplayer and you rotate on the fourth dimension axis it is possible to see the organs of the other players
