You know what….I had the same problem lol! The 15th century hand and a half is beautiful looking! I especially like the cross guard. Although I don’t own that sword I suspect it to be a really nice piece. The bastard is also beautiful. If money were not such an integral factor, I would have both! Thanks for watching my friend.
It is quite nice! I have handled quite a few Darksword Armory long swords now and I can say that this one has some of the best handling characteristics I have seen. I believe the slightly shorter blade, the long grip and large pommel have a lot to do with it. The blade itself is well designed and has nice profile and distal taper. Overall a really nice sword!
The one pictured on Darksword is definitely not an accurate picture of the sword. At least not my example. I believe they have altered their design since they took that picture. And my blade represents the newer design. However, if you are interested in getting one, I would reach out to Darksword first to make sure you get what you want. Thanks for watching
I bought an elite ranger from them and a warmonger. The elite was untempered but with a sharpened edge that was mangled beyond fixing. The warmonger had a twisted blade. Both were useless and when I sent them back they charged me 25% restocking fee plus the shipping to send it back. Dynasty forge for cheaper European swords made decent. If you want a real sword, Albion, Atrim, longship armory or valiant. Lockwood is great too. Can't trust dsa

Yawn DSA is trash. Cherry picking trash. They ain't changed. Still the same. Got the Alexandria knock off and sent it back! Total crap! Another mangled edge and the gap between the hilt and blade was atrocious! India milled garbage! Take my money elsewhere and never ever try them again.

Great review. I forge some of my own blades, in my backyard way. What I like about Darksword is that they also sell swordhilt parts.

25% restocking fee for something defective from the start is absurd!
I´ve checked this sword on Darksword armory´s wesbsite, and in their pictures it looks narrower than the one you are reviewing here
It is definitely narrower on the website. I believe that is an older version.
Its not a type 14 (XIV) its a type 12a (XIIa)
Type 14 are single handed.
