For all you can add a note, the Leptomeningeal Angioma in Sturge weber is usually ON SAME SIDE of the Port-wine stain. Thin of it: like if half of the face has port wine stain, this port wine stain will continue posteriorly to the same side ONTO the Leptomeninges Capillaries(inside the brain).
Just took my step 1 a week before this video was up. still happy this video exists. this topic is a pain, and now finally there's something that I can recommend for colleagues taking step 1.
Dirty you did it again. you shone a cool clear light on this eemingly confusing topic. Your caring heart comes through as we watch your teaching videos. Thank you so much for being there for us who are struggling to get through USMLE!
I am just learning for my German final medical exam and I am deeply impressed of your video! I really do thank you, I did not find any source which explains that quite difficult topic as understandable as you!
This is the best medical resource/content on youtube or any other platform so far. Thank you so much Dirty Medicine you have saved my ass from being toast in an exam countless times...I wish you well and hope you keep putting out such amazing content.🤘🏻✌🏻
The pathophysiology of SWS is wrongly said. Here the GNAQ gene mutation leads to activation of the gene and its function, as in normal embryo, GNAQ gets inactivated at 9 weeks of gestation, but remains active in mutated cells in SWS
For NF1, I just remember the phrase, "Bumpy brown kid." This describes the neurofibromas, the pigmentation of the skin and the eyes, and the fact that the onset is at childhood.
I have this disorder NF1, I had tumours in my small intestine, I had the biggest tumour in 2018 in North America, i had 7 tumours, lost about 50% of my small intestine. Tumours in my eyes and the Octave Nerve, Ringing Ears.
Dirty please let me add sth for this great mnemonic … Tuberous Sclerosis … pronounce it: Tuberous Skinerosis.. for skin sx: Ash-leaf spots, shagreen, adenoma sebaceum, ungual fibroma on the skin of your finger. Taking my exam in few weeks, prayers 🙏🏼
For VHL disease , you say the gene makes ubq 1a qhich shuts the complex that degrades proteins, then wouldn’t this gene cause less protein degradation?
Great stuff as always! Big fan. I was wondering if it is important for the viewers to pay attention that in the HARP mnemonic it's hemangioblastoma and angioma- not vice versa (same shit for me but what if it is important) Thanks, Dirty, you are the best 👌
Are the tram track calcifications in sturge weber due to leptomeningeal angiomas? If so are they on the same side or opposite side? First Aid says it's on the 'opposing gyri'
This is the highest quality content I've seen amongst all the resources, including the paid ones. Thank you!
Remember the TUBArosclerosis genes/chromosome with this numerical mneumonic:
TSC1: (8+1) = c9
TSC2: (8*2)= c16
Love you, man! Stay dirty.

Neuro-Cutaneous
-->
Leptomeningeal Angioma (Neuro) + Port-Wine Stain (Cutaneous)

Mnemonic for NF type I and Café-au-lait spots:
If you drink too much coffee (Café-au-lait spots), you are gonna go number one (a slang for pee).
One day all I want is to finally understand the difference between angiomas, hemangiomas, and hemangioblastomas...
Tuberous Sclerosis/TSC=> TS = tumor suppressor
In case for some reason knowing that it's a tumor suppressor in particular helps out.
No other teacher/resource could ever match up to you 🙏🙌
This content was amazing .... Dirty medicine never disappoints .... Amazing explanation
By far the best video I seen describing these difficult concepts
For tuber sclerosis
Tubers are raised mass like potato
So potato in kidney, heart, nails, skin.
This is an outstanding presentation
For Sturge-WEBer syndrome I think Whites of eyes Epidermis Brain thanks so much dirty you're the GOAT!

hahaha "That can quickliy spiral out of control if you dont know what you are doing" I LOVE IT... IDK why that made me laugh so hard! lol 😂
For NF1, I just remember the phrase, "Bumpy brown kid."

I don't usually comment on videos but this is amazing!
Your videos are amazing Sir. Just want to add a minor comment - TSC stands for Tuberous Sclerosis Complex I encountered at few places.
Dirty please let me add sth for this great mnemonic …
Tuberous Sclerosis … pronounce it:
Tuberous Skinerosis.. for skin sx: Ash-leaf spots, shagreen, adenoma sebaceum, ungual fibroma on the skin of your finger.

For VHL disease , you say the gene makes ubq 1a qhich shuts the complex that degrades proteins, then wouldn’t this gene cause less protein degradation?

Is GNAQ mutation gain-of-function instead of knock-out/loss of function? It's activating mutation. Thank you
