    Another thing for pilocytic astrocytoma - they have both solid and cystic parts. So if the MRI of a child shows a tumor consisting of white (solid) and dark (cystic) parts, think pilocytic astrocytoma.

      doesn't craniopharyngioma also have that?

    • @lazymedic5988
      @lazymedic5988 3 года назад +14

      @@NoorFatima-sc3zk yes ...its just that cysts will be different...pilocytic astricytoma will have cyst with mural nodule where as craniopharyngioma will have a calcified cyst...infact there are only few tumors in brain which r calcified like craniopharygioma ,oligodendroglioma and meningioma..plus location of tumors will also be different ..mostly brain tumors in children are infratentorial and they specially have prediliction for cerebellum..so u can also distinguish it on the basis of that..pilocytic astrocytoma lies in cerebellum while as craniopharyngioma is located suprasellar..n symptoms plus histology of craniopharygioma n pilocytic astricytoma are also different

    My mnemonics for childhood brain tumors. (I have no idea about American footbal).
    ASTRO (star) cytoma => give your favorite star some Rose Fibers 💐 (bouquet)
    B LAST => your Home Right is what Lasts (matters the most).
    Ependy Moma => Give your Mom a pseudo rose 🥀 (You gave the star a bouquet 😉). I like your dirty mnemonic.
    Cranio Pharymgioma- my friend Radke (German name) has a big mouth & crane: he eats Calcium icecream and Cholesterol (motor oil like junk food).
    Pinealoma - Parrainer (meand support in French) the pines for early blooming. (Preserve the pine trees for precocious puberty 🌲).

    Reviewed a card and had to come and comment on the video..I love your style of teaching. It helps close the gap of comprehension by months! All of medical should be taught this way. "Here is something really difficult, but know these things, here is a goofy/interesting/unique way to remember it, and in the future, you'll at least have a framework from which to build your knowledge on this difficult subject....and go!"

    For Medulloblastoma, you can always remember it as Med-BLUE-oblastoma, because the Homer-Wright rosettes are, at the end of the day, another small cell cancer.
    Also, for small blue cell cancers of the brain: Kids - Medulloblastoma; Adults - Metastatic Small Cell Carcinoma of the Lung

    For oligodendrogliomas, I could never remember the chicken wire and egg thing actually looked like because I just couldn't see it. Now, I always think of it like a pomegranate cross section, and my egg breakfast can just have pomegranate on the side. No clue if that helps anyone else visualize the histology better, but it did for me!
