It looks really cute and original, I personally wouldn't try it on my hair, but it does look nice :)
perhaps for a look without using so many elastics you could just rubber band the first section and then french braid the other sections by taking the same placed pieces going down the head?
but it still looks really cool with the elastics alone and the little girl is soo cute:)

I'am a big fan too and I haved tried that hairstyle on my older daughter. And in my opinion you should do a fishtail and not just a regular ponytail, or you could do what I call princess ponyyail.( where you take your ponytail and make a whole right above the elastic and flip the ponytail in the whole)
When the camera pans the mirror, it is hard to focus on the hair because that is one gorgeous child!!

I have to admit, that I adjust many of your ideas to wear on myself... I'm 29 y.o. But I truly can't help it. I only get to do my daughter's hair once a day and it's so hard to pick just one of your ideas.
