@@anaperalta827 Agreed, my town gave approval to a specific company many years ago, practically monopolized the place. They give decent speeds for good prices but the packet loss at times is terrible. Luckily more companies have started moving in to certain parts of town providing gigabit and above for $50 a month.

If you go to any rural place in America it's going to be shitty DSL, satellite, or a locally subsidized ISP that over charges because most towns only allow one company to dig lines. Ping has little to do with speed, it has to do with location. If you live right next to a server hub, say, Ashville Virginia. You're going to get 5ms whether you have 50mb or 10gb. In Europe, if you look at a map of the cables connecting server hubs (aka backbone internet) they run all over the place. It's not hard to get gigabit internet in some random town in Sweden. America as the most developed and wealthy nation should absolutely be ashamed that internet access isn't as easily available as it is in Europe. Hell I grew up with 3mb down and 1mb up even though we only lived 20 minutes from a town of 100k people, it was literally the best option in our area.
In Italy we have 5Gbit/s for 19.99€ and 10Gbit/s for 35€. It’s impressive to know that you have a such fast internet for even cheaper

I already have 1 GBit/s fiber to the home, but for about 55 USD per month. Could maybe ask my ISP to upgrade to 10 or even 40 Gbps as we use normal SFP(+) here, but it would be expensive and most German servers are already bottlenecking the speeds both in UL and DL.

It's only temporary. New 5g plans will be coming in December. Jio might start them at 399 for 500GB a month. Or 299 for 10gb per day going up to 50gb a day for 999 a month. Use the free trial until it lasts. December is just around the corner.

Looking at Whistleout it seems a lot of Australia still has slow connections for a ton of money. Our prices for the speeds you get with some providers is insane.

$80 for 6.8 down and 0.3 up. We changed providers and get 50/25 for $99 now. There is also another available for $129 100/50 and Starlink which is mixed speeds for $139. The upload speed on Starlink is awful here though, we got a neighbour to run a speed test and his download was 129 but upload was only 3 …
We are rural though. No idea what the possible daily speeds are like in town or the larger cities.

Here in my area the most common speed from an ISP is 0Mbps because most of us can't afford it and we use mobile cellular data hotspotted to devices which because the signal towers are stupidly far away and unreliable they can be decently slow to an unusable almost 14Kbps at times
