So found a way to fix the gaps. Not sure if its the right way but it works. If you open the mesh and search 'Bounds' in the search box You want to change the X in the 'Positive Bounds Extension to -0.42 Leave the Y and Z For the 'Negative bounds Extension' change the X to -0.36 and leave the Y and Z like last time. Hope this helps

the same issue UE5.1 . I figured out how to fix - you just skip creation of layer at the beginning and start to add spline after you finish go back to layers and this feature to create new one will be available

This is awesome! Works great for a road surface but I was trying to make a cobblestone path and had some tiling issues between splines. Is there any way to smooth that out? Somehow adding geometry in Blender made it worse... hahaha. I'm also getting some texture stretching. For roads though, I'll definitely be using this!

This tutorial was really helpful, but I guess it's just scratching the very basics of how to use the landscape spline tool to create e.g. roads. As you can see, the middle stripes are stretched and I would like to know how to avoid that. Do you mind to make a more in-depth series about how to use the spline tool and what's possible with it?
@@daveweinstock If you still have this problem, you can try to set the mesh's origin a bit away from the gap, or to the mesh's geometry (which can be done automatically in Blender).

Yeah you can use with any kind of mesh that you like. But remember that the buildings will have to be modeled in a way that they can join with themselves, which can be a bit tricky!
@@GorkaGames yes I clicked my landscape, enabled edit. Created a separate layer. Reserved that one for spline. Then clicked spline icon under manage and hold control and click then drag and nothing green showing. Let me try on another project maybe something wrong in this file not sure
It’s actually deforming the land but I don’t seen any icon to be able to control it or create a road/path. It’s just deforming landscape wherever I drag it.

When I added the FBX file to the UE content folder the thumbnail had nothing in it and when I added it to the spline segment the spline only had an outline but no actual road.
you technically can, but it will be pretty hard to make it look good and actually implement it. You would need to deactivate the auto-terrain filler when building that section and merge it with the other normal road splines. However it is achievable and maybe it's easier than what I think, so give it a go!!
Hi me again, I took a break and wanted to give it another shot but now I am having another problem. In all my other projects everything works fine but in a specific one when I tr crtl+left click nothing happens? I have followed all the steps, any idea what might mess this up?
I am having a problem with the right side panel "Segments" is greyed out and not interactable. I did set the layer to Spline Reserved and held Control while adding Splines
Hmm, If you have placed the splines correctly and reserved the landscape area, it might then be a bug. Try to re-open the level, and try again. Let me know if this is still happening

basically what you would do is add splines closer together as you path out the road and adjust their height when there is a drop in elevation on your landscape, the splines will burrow into the ground and leave walls on either side but if you take it slow and level it down little by little it should come out well

on a big map for me it is like add point pause 30 sec, move wait, rotate wait, move a bit wait... so annoyng... is there a way to delay what ever calculations it is doing? so I create at least one segment then update...

Either look in the top right, there are a couple of symbols next to each other. The one that is right next to the cursor symbol is the one you want to select. Or you could just press 'W' on the keyboard. Hope this helps
Thank you so much for making this!! This is exactly what I needed. However, I'm having trouble with adding a mesh to my spline. I add it in the details menu under 'landscape spline meshes', and it shows up there next to mesh, but doesn't change the look of my splines. Additionally, my splines don't highlight green beforehand, as yours do. I'm mentioning it in case they're related to each other. "Enable edit layers" is also on if that changes anything. I'm using 5.1. Any help would be VERY appreciated :)
@@GorkaGames "fixed"...When I add a material to the road, it does nothing. The road is still highlighted in green. and when I exit the manage tab, all i see is a green wireframe of the road layout.... :/ No material or anything....it's almost like the FBX file I placed there doesn't exist.

@@KC-rn3bd my issue isn't that. It's the blatant bs when the engine is completely capable of performing these tasks. But half the video is ANOTHER program. it's absolutely ridiculous
yeah now if the mesh wouldnt rotate each segment making it alternating 90 and 0 degreees every time, i tried to rotate but it just flips back, also tried rotating in blender, it just rotates the next mesh instead. The landscape system is crap, dont use it. Make a BP instead.

I dont know if its still relevant, but you really helped me with my college assignment. I pursue game design/programming and your video is amazing.

I have enabled the layer editing but right clicking on the layer doesn't bring anything up
Switch the the Splines section of the menu, then you can add a new layer.

I was able to get around this by changing the tool under the manage button from "select" to new or import or splines

Yeah, so you can fix it by going into the segments details panel, and in the spline meshes section, increase the size on the x axis or y axis
@@GorkaGames There is no change when increasing the Scale on the X axis in the Spline Mesh section. The gap is still present.

When I hold ctrl and click the green road doesn't appear. Not sure what I am doing wrong its just blank.

for modifying the road model, you can use mirror modifier in blender, that will be easier.

what about a mountain road, located on a step crawling around a high mountain?

When I try to select segments, everything on the right hand side is entirely greyed out....
have you reserved the layers for the splines only? and are you using world partition?

My ground shoots a solid amount into the atmosphere, I can’t seem to find a way to get it to just match the spline path height.
To further explain; the ground is dramatically deformed and it’s height changed to way above the spline I placed down.
@@Crouton_6 Did you already assigned the mesh? Or just the path without the mesh?
@@GorkaGames my landscape on the level was all sorts of messed up, I ended up deleting the level and making a new one which it worked fine afterwards

In 5.3.2 you cant create the layer, the rules have changed and so your video is now wrong.

Mine just sits above the ground. This tool is useless for anyone modeling on anything other than a flat surface
If you use the move tool vertically on a spline point, the terrain layer will match it. Mine does, at least.
tutorials where you have to run to blender or anywhere outside UE are no good, I left as soon as you mentioned the word blender

When I do this the green outline is still on during PIE. I can't find anywhere to shut it off!
