I just found your channel tonight, January 30, 2023, and I am giddy with excitement. I hardly see many African-American homesteading channels. I want to have a homestead myself. So I have been doing research, reading homesteading books, country living books, etc, etc, etc. Since this is my dream, I know I can do it all myself because nobody has this dream, but me. Right now, I am trying to pick the best state to start my homesteading dream in.

OMG, I am trying to watch my people channel, but all I see is the work after it is done or faces! I'm trying to LOVE the channel but I don't see anything. Turn the camera away from the face and on the job at hand. JUST SHOW! LOVED IT WHEN YOU WERE QUIET AND BUILDING THE FIRE! TURN THE CAMERA AWAY FROM THE FACE. Yall not the only one, when I turn to someone who wants to just talk, I don't subscribe or watch. Just keeping it real. Not being mean. I sit and watch for hours on other channels that are quiet. The beginning of the video was cringe, all the talking! I fast forward it till I thought I found some work. I love to see homesteading and black people homesteading., keep up the silent work and good work.

Building a homestead is not magically cheaper if you are not doing the work yourself. It costs money to do a lot of what you are paying people to do. Honestly the water main stuff is cheap. The guy who dug your trench and found the water main is below cheap. Note you would have been held responsible if he had hit and broke the water main depriving all of your neighbors of water until a qualified crew could get out there and repair it. The water company would then have charged you a large fee for the repairs. Do they not use Digsafe where you are?
Very important to get multiple written estimates, to check references & obtain proof of insurance from contractors. Also, prices are different for every county & each county will have different requirements.
How are you guys faring on the land? We just got started and we have so many questions. We would like to know where you guys are in the process and any advice you can give us would be awesome.
