  • Hey hey!! Lifes been a little hectic lately, buying a new house and moving all my crap across and then setting everything up again is one hell of a mission to say the least.
    It's been a hot minute since i've been in the chair and it feels so good to be back in it. New CNC aluminium actuators are built and so far going great. Build video and review coming soon!
    Enjoy my rusty driving haha.

    Very cool. Your old build was on what would be now old tech in the motor world with things like Odrive and simpleFOC being so cheap and easy to setup has their been any changes for even more affordable actuators? I’ve been out out the loop for a long time so I’d imagine someone in the community has setup some kind of newer Odrive system?

      @DrGeta666 hey mate. Yeah old tech in a sense but it's plug and play and robust as hell!! ODrives are great when they work and don't blow boards haha. (From what I hear :)) These motors will last the test of time though. Never heard of a motor or driver failing.
      I've been out of the loop myself included so not sure what's out there. I'm happy with these for now, a little more bulky sure and expensive, yes.. but after factoring in what they provide is sense of ease of use and reliability I don't think it's a hard ask. :) To think they even created a silent driver just to conform to the sim community like us is pretty cool, because don't think factories care about a bit of noise haha.

      @@peacemakermotion3949 oh yeah those motors are fantastic and a nice closed loop system is far less hassle for sure. I was just shocked at the price of them compared to how much cheaper they used to be. Kicking myself I didn’t buy some back in the day. If anything I would have thought it would be cheaper. Might do some deep diving as I’ve got a bunch of left over ODrives from other projects. I’m great at building this stuff it’s just the coding and integration I’m not smart enough to figure out.

      @DrGeta666 yeah man for sure since covid and exchange rates the shipping has gone up and so has the cost. All adds up to make an expensive hobby even more expensive and for some, even more out of reach.. :(

    • @DrGeta666
      @DrGeta666 2 месяца назад

      @@peacemakermotion3949 so I did a deep dive and an Odrive and bldc motor system the same power as yours is actually even more expensive in the end and need a lot of active cooling integrated. I think I’ll go with your tried and true closed loop motor/controller kits.

    He's got the gloves on - it's serious! Looks great - the red and black is niiiiiice. Having the game audio only lets you see that the system is smooth. I think hearing the servos start, stop and vary in speed gives an impression that it's somehow jerky. But do the metal parts actually make any difference to the user in the rig?

    • @peacemakermotion3949
      @peacemakermotion3949  2 месяца назад

      @tomdchi12 haha havent driven in months can afford to get blisters now 😄.
      The level of jerkyness is tuned by the user. I like to keep a lot of the ground detail in and feel the bumps in the road. I can filter them out and make it feel like I'm driving a family wagon if I want but that's no fun haha.
      The main thing the metal adds is peace of mind to the user. Knowing they are more strong and robust. Otherwise they are identical to the plastic counterparts.
