Black chrome, indeed, would look much better on the mirror caps and the door trim. When comparing this model or any other Lexus model to either the BMW or Mercedes, I believe that you'll always get more bang for the buck, especially in the area of reliability. The way this LX is optioned is very appealing to me even with the standard sunroof. This updated LX is just magnificent, in my humble opinion.

My sister's brand new X3 broke down when her and her family were on holiday. It wasn't the $1,000 bill for replacing a sensor, nor the fact that she had to go to 2 difference BMW dealers and ended up at the only dealer that could help, which was 90 miles away from where they were staying, but the fact that she no car for the entire holiday, and she had to get a 15-mile taxi ride to the nearest train station, then a train, then another taxi to the dealer ... twice!
*Yet my sister will look you dead in the face and tell you the car was reliable, and that she's had no "real problems" with the car!*
My friend also had an X5 from new, and her latest .... thang ... is that the handbrake (e-brake) doesn't work. So when she parks on her drive, which is on a slight gradient, with her two kids strapped in the back ... she panics that the car will roll down the street.
That, along with the suspension issues, infotainment glitches flashing like you're in a Miami club ... and many other problems … and memories of many a morning having to push start my Landlords M3 E30, so he could bump start it .... along with many other BMW engine failures, steering rack failures and electrical glitches ... I tend to give BMW a big swipe left!
As for the VW Boxster my brother owned, ... that's a disaster story for another thread!

After seeing all the reviews on the the X7, GLS, Escalade, and Range Rover my wife ended up wanting the Lexus LX 700. BMW and Range Rover reliability are notoriously bad and i wasn’t willing to roll the dice because time is money. The Escalade was gorgeous but she wanted something more nimble and easy to drive on the daily and the Lexus checked off all the marks. The Mercedes is also beautiful, but she loves d the fact how rare you see the LX on the road and I loved their reliability and resale value. Win Win

A beautifully crafted SUV that will likely stand the test of time, a lot of tech these days that will be expensive to fix/calibrate if kept long-term. I'm old enough to remember when you could buy a nice condo for $107K. A Zonk for lack of cargo room while using the 3rd row seat, limits comfort to 4 adults or 3 kids in the back fighting in the second row if you're on a road trip and have cargo/luggage to haul.

If they wanted a 3rd row with usable trunk they should make an extended wheelbase. It would sell like crazy. My only problem with this thing. Hybrid V8 non plug in would be something I would love for this suv. But naw the trunk space with the 3rd row up is my only true complaint that’s awful

  • @MercOne

Other than the promise of reliability and off roading, which very few will be doing in a Lexus, the X7 miles better. Optional V8 and on road manner that embarrass the Lexus and the interior is far more modern than the Lexus also.

Spacious enough for average-sized adult to be comfortable on short trips. Both 2nd and 3rd rows are not going to give you "large SUV" room though.

Wouldn't go with the F-Sport, that seems counterintuitive. Great SUV though. The perfect "I'm retiring and want a nice SUV I'll never have to replace and can leave in my will" SUV.

I saw this Lexus first time at Chicago auto show last year. Right off the bat, the exterior style is phenomenal: sexy and masculine, aggressive and sporty. Then I looked and sat inside and I was not very excited. It felt small inside and claustrophobic. Everything is tight around the driver. You can’t touch your lady thru a hight fence of middle panel. Rear trunk is a joke. I have no idea why it is called full size suv. It barely competes with middle size suvs. VW atlas and Grand Highlander will have more trunk. VW and Toyota have massive panoramic roofs. VW Atlas is the perfect example of managing space around the driver. Fully loaded Atlas and Grand Highlander cost 1/2 of this Lexus.

If you skip 3rd row seat and be able to reach USB and cup holder for 3rd row from back
It means you'll not have enough cargo space.

Yukon XL is 225" three spacious rows with cargo space.
This is two spacious rows one tight row and virtually no trunk space.
...also the Lexus TX is 203" It only makes sense that their flagship full size SUV be their longest vehicle. Imo.
