Til they sold out and horrid cheap money hungry Shiseido reformulated all of the beautiful frags into cheap aroma chemical garbage . I will treasure my original formulas. All the best niche houses are selling out. Money and greed rule the world .
My favorite Serge Lutens is Feminite du Bois. It’s incredible - if you like dark and plummy scents. It was created by Christopher Sheldrake and Pierre Bourdon.
I've been a fan of Lutens for ages, first for his amazing photographs and then for Shiseido's imagery, make-up and perfume. Anyway. I've stopped counting bottles of SL I have. I might not always love every perfume he creates with Sheldrake, some of them are extremely challenging. But there is always something interesting or thought provoking in his work. My (excruciatingly difficult to establish) top 3 would be, in no particular order : Bois de Violette, Santal De Mysore and Ambre Sultan. I've been recently rediscovering a bunch of sleepers from his Noire range, like La Religieuse and Baptême du Feu. You really need to take your time with Lutens perfumes.
I am still waiting to get my hands in Santal Majuscule.. i was also thinking of Amber Sultan.. but now i am not so sure.. and Datura Noir I am thinking of getting too ❤️
Un Bois Vanille is a fantastic vanilla. To me, it smells like golden brown chocolate chip biscuits. Love Arabie. The dry down is a sublime soft and sweet honey.
What a lovely collection of Serges! I was actually deciding between Eau Duelle and Un Bois Vanille when I sampled both years ago! The only reason why Eau Duelle won was because i was really into peppery fragrances then. And i agree Nuit de Cellopane is so pretty! I like it.
I'm watching this again because since I watched it before I've acquired Ambre Sultan, Santal Majuscule, Arabie (which I wore on Christmas Day), and Nuit de Cellophane...ALL of which I love. I'm wearing Nuit de Cellophane today and I literally can't stop sniffing my arm. Not sure why people dislike it, but we all dislike things that others love. :)
Cherie, I just received Arabie in the post today and OMG, I absolutely love it. I had never heard of this one until I saw your review so did a little more research and it sounded like something I would like. Thanks for making me aware of this fragrance!
I have Five o’Clock au Gingembre, Ambre Sultan, La Fille de Berlin, Un Bois Vanille, and Daim Blond. Also Decants of Feminite du Bois (love!) and Fille en Aiguilles. Thanks for sharing your collection of SL!
Thank you for the review. Showing love to less hyped houses. First bottle was La Fille de Berlin. I wear Chergui when it's really really cold; Gris Clair only with crisp white t-shirt; Datura Noir (or Guerlain Terracota) anytime late spring through early fall; A la Nuit and un Bois Vanille all year adjusting the spray for the weather; Feminite du Bois was second purchase for fall/ winter; Least favorite buy Sa Majeste la rose- just ok for me and I thought I was buying Santal Majuscule. Only have a sample of santal. I also have Diptique Duelle and agree with your choice. I currently do not have another must own from Serge Lutens, but motivated to take a fresh look.
I need to try more from this house, but my favorites that I own are Jeux de Peau, Fille en Aiguilles & Santal Majuscle (ranked in order). I’m planning on getting Five O’clock au Gingembre next.
Serge Lutens is a wonderful Niche House. The fragrances smell very unique and may not be everybody's cup of tea, but hey, this is what Niche is for, right? Anyway, thanks for the fantastic review of a great selection of their fragrances. Also like you are mentioning perfumer Christopher Sheldrake as the creative mastermind; I also like his stunning creations. My favorite Serge Lutens' are Féminité du Bois, Vitriol d'Oeillet (both from Sheldrake) and Serge Noir. Maybe you want to try them. Highly recommended. All the best from Germany!
I love Serge Lutens so much!! I have Datura Noir, Un Bois Vanille, Jeux De Peau, and La Religieuse. I want to get Sarrasins and possible Clair de musc & Feminite Du bois.
Serge Lutens is such a great house. FdB was a little too much cedar for me but I know many who love it. My favs from this house are Fille en Aiguilles, Datura Noir and , of course, Chergui. Thanks for the video.
Great video! I love Serge Lutens also! I have Un Bois Vanille and La Vierge de Fer. They are so beautiful! I also have decants of Feminite du Bois, Chergui, and Datura Noir. I plan on purchasing these 3 when I finish my decants!🤗
I am so pleased you are doing this video. Libertys in London stock the brand but I'm confused as to what to choose - not any more 😉 I like SP fragrances too
I have sidi bel abbés la collection d’or inspired from the Algerian city Bel Abbes my native city 😊 very elegant beautiful tobacco , and fille en aiguilles ,!I’m trying to explore more of this house I just love his work and perfumery style . Thanks for the great review !
Great video!! Santal Majuscule is probably my #1 favorite fragrance ever!! I also have and love Un Bois Vanille and L’Orpheline! I also have and am trying to sell La verge de fer I can’t seem to like that one. I also have a sample of Daim Blond and need a bottle of that!
Yes I quite like Lorpheline as well! I’d forgotten about that one, I remember I was on the verge of buying it a few years ago but others took priority... might have to revisit! 🤪
I like nuit de cellophane too!! At first I didn’t. Then I had a free decant and kept trying and I changed my mind! I brought a full bottle. It’s the only serge lutens I own. Though I do want to buy santal Majuscule and Jeux de Peau and feminite du bois
I hit like before your ads even finished - I am excited about this video and rapt that you have such a collection, really looking forward to this, thank you for doing this x
Good Morning, Cherie! This video is exactly what I needed. I am yet to explore more from this wonderful house. I love Chergui, it is like an elixir to me. I enjoy spraying it all over my scarf in fall and winter. Thank you for your overview!💕💕
Thanks for the wonderful overview, Cherie. I have Fleurs d'Oranger (has a cumin note that I still haven't accepted fully), Vetiver Oriental (my favorite), Daim Blond, and Vierge de Fer. I sooo want to get Santal Majuscule but I rarely see it at discounters and I refuse to pay full retail. 😄
You turned me onto Ormande Jayne, bought the same bottles as you: woman, iris vanille, tolu and also Frangipani, osmanthus, montabaco. Was very content at 85 FBs. Then after this video I caved and bought 10ml decants of Chergui and Amber Sultan and now I must buy those too 😬 I know, I’m late to the game...started early w Roja and late with Serge ;-) I’m reminded of Hendley Mown. Actually the dry down of Sultan smells like Tolu. These are so deep but stay close to my skin which I love.
@@TheTopNote I think amber sultan is redundant to Tolu, so going to save my coin there. Chergui is sweeter and better than Mown, I get the hype! I seriously need to curb my spending, I don’t have as many as YTs but I built up my collection way too fast all during quarantine 😬
bettybbags that’s understandable. My wardrobe has been building up Over years but I too bought way too much over the lockdown period. I suspect also that if I had been able to go out and smell things I might not have bought as much as I did. It’s definitely slowed down now that things have returned to “semi-normal” here in Australia. I am glad to hear you are enjoying your experience with Ormonde Jayne! 😍
A house I'm not as familiar with as I should be , the amber and santal are two that have been on my radar. Arabie reminded me of mince pies we have at Christmas so I always associate it with that time of year , so wearing it any other time of year either feels weird or makes my Christmas spirit come out an obnoxiously long time before the season begins. Muscs koublai khan is still my favourite from them that I've tried. 🍀
I think you should try the new one, Fils de joie. It smells like jasmine blooming at night with some beeswax to me. Really strong, beautiful and decadent. Fleurs d'oranger is also a really good one for your upcoming spring/summer season. 😉 I'd like to buy Une fille en aiguille but where I live you cannot find it anymore in the old bottles, just in the really expensive ones 😥
Why I never landed on video of this elegant lady, I really enjoyed this video, it was like an ASMR experience. I'm really interested in smelling sntal majuscule now.
Thank you 🙏 Santal majuscule is definitely worth a try, it’s gorgeous! Haha yes I must remember that when I’m wearing the mic it picks up all of the cap sounds 🤪
I just noticed that Sephora in Canada is carrying a few of these on there. Hope all 9 mentioned here will all be available there soon. I haven’t tried anything by this house yet, thanks for sharing 😊❤️
I want to purchase Chergui when we hit the cooler months in Aus and try vetiver oriental. I used to own un bois vanille but i preferred eau duelle so I didn't repurchase it after it ran out. I've tried datura noir too but it didn't feel "me". Wish I got my hands on jeux de peau when it was still around.
Getting to know and research the house of SL and cane across your channe. Subscribed. Wonder how is your SL collection now since the video is published. Thanks 🙂
Thank you for showcasing Uncle Serge. Well done, Cherie. Love this house; Feminite du Bois is one of my favorite fragrances of all time, both the Shiseido and SL versions. I had the older version of Fleurs d'Oranger, which I accidentally wore to work one day. Don't do that; cumin bomb. lol
Wow we have 6 out of 9 the same( Ambre sultan, arabie, cherqui, datura noir, santal majescule, five o’clock ginger ..) we must have a pretty similar taste in perfume. In addition to those I have vetiver oriental, la fille Berlin and fleur D’oranger...😀
Actually you have reminded me that I have a little decant of Fd’O and I completely forgot about it! I’m super keen to get my nose on Vetiver Oriental but it seems hard to find here for some reason!
I actually had that happen to me recently. Thought I was getting an older bottle, but the new one came instead. Disappointment for 2 days 😢....then I just stopped caring as the bottle disappeared into the collection 😂 Contemplating getting five o'clock au gingembre this year. Still on the fence. But absolutely need to get a bottle of Fille en Aiguilles first.
@@ConwellConwell Honestly, I can't remember what I was referencing in this comment. Maybe Guerlain's Heritage? Z-14? Happened on both occasions. Anyway, as far as the Serge formulations go, I've heard mixed things. Unfortunately, I haven't smelled any of the newer versions to compare to my older bottles and decants so it's a toss up. My experience is that they will get better as they mature though. Rushing juice out into the market can be a downfall in the biz.
Ok. I know this will probably never be seen because this video was posted on my birthday last year but I hunted it down because I know you love SL as do I. This year I hunted down a rather rare one by the brand. In fact I’ve only seen one video about.? It is now in my top Five perfumes for life. Please, anyone who sees this, try to smell L’Orpheline by SL. This truly is a masterpiece and I’m not sure why but a real secret.
Thanks for your recommendation! I will definitely try to hunt it down - I think I have seen it a few years ago but yes it’s been a while since I recall seeing it. 💞
WOW 9, I have 3 I love but I haven’t met a Serge Lutens I didn’t love . So I’m here to get ideas of what to try next from this house. The three I own are here :)
💕💐❤️ Excellent choice of Serge Lutens collections 💐💕 One of my favorite houses. My collections are mostly suitable for Autumn 🍂 and Winter like Jeux de peau, Gris Clair, Borneo 1834, Fille en Aiguilles (Christmas scent) and Five O’clock au gingembre 💐💕 Thank you for sharing your Awesome Collections 💐💕💐
From Serge Lutens i have Rose de nuit, try the rose de nuit and what do you think about that.for another most i like it,La Fille de Berlin,La vierge de fer, clair de musc, five o'clock au gingembre. But Dature Noire is not long lasting in my skin and i have Féminité de bois but not my next list.Serge Lutens is amazing because is not like another brand have top note, middle note and base note.😘
Bonjour, I am like you. Serge lutens stays my signature.... howmatter I love chanel and givenchy... Mine forever is la tubéreuse criminelle. Thanks for the video....😊
Sad that Datura Noir does not last on me as long as it does on you! My top 3 are: Datura Noir, Santal Majascule, and I really, really love Arabie. Arabie is one of my winter fancy fragrances and one of my first true loves. I do also find Santal Majascule addictive. I also have Bois de Violette, Femininite du Bois, Participe Passe, and I used to have a few more. One I used to have that I loved is Fille en Anguilles.
I own 8 fragrances from SL and love Nuit de Cellophane!!! It's my second favourite SL just after Un Bois Vanille :) I hink people don't like it coz it's not 'niche' enough ;)
I don’t like fragrances with coconut except for Guerlain terracotta because it’s so far in the background it’s unnoticeable. But I can’t find anywhere it’s sold, sadly. How would you compare with Datura considering it’s also white floral?
The Jasmine is a lot more front and centre with Datura Noir, Whereas Terracotta smells more tropical and I feel like the Tiare is the star. DN is slightly powdery too.
Hello. I still cannot get to the bottom of the trivial but irritating mystery: does Fille en Aiguilles really smell like a 'superior version' of Tom Ford's 'Plum Japonais'? I finished my last bottle of PJ and searched for similar but 'better' fragrances and a considerable number of people all cooed over Serge Lutens' 'Fille en Auguilles', even reviewing it saying 'this is whay Tom Ford WISHES he could have done with PJ'. I was just as puzzled when I first read the notes as I am now. Pine?! FeA is pine-forward whereas I'd never associate PJ with pine. To me, it's a dark boozy medieval stewed fruits, sweet incense and black roses in a Japanese forest at 3am. When I think of pine notes I think of the bracing olfactory contents of my father's toiletry bag in the 1980's: Pino Silvestre and the ubiquitous bottle of Norsca deodorant. How can a pine heavy fragrance be a 'superior' replacement for Plum Japonais?! If you or anybody else chances upon this comment, PLEASE tell me if FeA really does smell like PJ; or how it differs in any significant way. Getting a sample in the UK or even access to a tester bottle in a store is IMPOSSIBLE: it may be there in the boutique or department store but it will be the one without an available tester. I'm a detective, determined to blow this case open! I loved this video by the way, as if you'd have any doubt 😉😄😍
Arabie is pretty sweet and gourmand, it smells like dark stewed fruits and spices. Arguably Santal Majuscule is slightly gourmand with that cocoa note but tempered by the rose and sandalwood so I dont know if I would classify it as "gourmand". Maybe Douce Amere? which I owned for a short time but then decluttered because I felt is smelled too vanillic on me. From memory that was an almondy vanilla with some light florals. Im not sure if I would really classify any of the Serge fragrances I have smelled is all-out "gourmand" though, I think they always have a bit of an edge to them that pulls them back a bit.
I know this comment comes long after your video but I am a lover of SL. One of the most beautiful perfumes in the world is L'Orpheline in my humble opinion . It takes my breath away.A little
@@TheTopNote Can I ask a question? I received the bottle but the thing it came with looks like a sprayer but doesnt spray. There is the cap and then this long tube thing which I dont know what to do with. Is this standard? The perfume is very nice, looks authentic. Maybe I am missing something.
@@FreshGrey-pm4vw it sounds like your atomiser might be jammed up into the cap. The tube will be attached to the atomiser and there will be a cap that fits on the atomiser. The bottle when in the box usually has a little dome-like cap and you have to unscrew that and insert the atomiser if you want to use it as a spray. Hopefully that helps!
@@TheTopNote Oh my goodness, I feel so dumb! You absolutely cannot try to separate the sprayer top from the the sprayer UNLESS its screwed into the bottle. I have never seen a set up like this so it threw me. I probably messed up the sprayer but once I realized this and screwed it on tight, and then gave the top a strong tug, of course it came off. lol. sadly I fiddled with it too much bef I realized so sprayer may not work correctly. I can dab on, I adore this perfume! but thank you so much for your help!
@@FreshGrey-pm4vw oh no! I don’t think it’s normal that they are so jammed in like that tbh, mine have always separated easily. I hope you can get the atomiser working again! X
I love Arabie. My husband and I are both Lebanese, and this fragrance is straight middle eastern (duh). My husband calls it "sexy grandma" because it smells like grandma's house with all of the spices and dates.
Hi Lovely, I haven’t tried that one. We only get a very limited range in Oz and the store that was stocking them has now dropped them. However I believe. New distributor has picked them up so hopefully they will bring back Serge to us Aussies with perhaps more from the line than we got before 🙏 I’ll add it to my list to try, sounds like it would be one I would love! 😍
Hi! I am indeed Aussie. I would have bought a few from Mecca when they still stocked them, some of the older ones I bought overseas years ago. Mecca no longer stocks SL but Myer and DJs do now.
@@TheTopNote not really. I think I have to try some samples. Too many blind buys lately, ha ha. Not all of them successful. I used to have Chergui 5 ml sample. I am not sure if I want a full bottle. I am looking for something feminine from SL.

You couldn’t get decants off eBay or anything? So many people are hit and miss with SL so I’m not sure they are safe blind buys...maybe Une Bois Vanille if you like vanilla 😊
I just found you! I adore and Im obsessed with Datura Noir, I also love Un bois vanille and Iḿ trying to put my hands on Un Dent de Lait and Tuberose Criminelle, but no luck so far. Xo!

I've got Un Bois Vanille and Arabie. Have a chance to buy Fleur d'Orange, but have never smelled it and will wait for awhile 😉
Yeah best to smell that one first, it’s a pretty dark, animalic orange blossom!
I definitely have too many. 😬🙈
Thank you for sharing I REALLY need to go get my nose on Fille en Aiguilles! 😊💞
Why don’t people like cellophane?
From Serge Lutens i have Rose de nuit, try the rose de nuit and what do you think about that.for another most i like it,La Fille de Berlin,La vierge de fer, clair de musc, five o'clock au gingembre. But Dature Noire is not long lasting in my skin and i have Féminité de bois but not my next list.Serge Lutens is amazing because is not like another brand have top note, middle note and base note.😘
Great selection! 💯 they are a great House
Thank you for the great video Cherie! I worry about the money I will spent....
😬🙈
You are right: Eau Duelle is a peppery vanilla
Bonjour,
I am like you. Serge lutens stays my signature.... howmatter I love chanel and givenchy...
Mine forever is la tubéreuse criminelle.
Thanks for the video....😊
I would love to try TC one day, hard to find though! :) Thanks for watching!
I can't stop watching this vid, trying to decide which one I like best 😊
Sad that Datura Noir does not last on me as long as it does on you! My top 3 are: Datura Noir, Santal Majascule, and I really, really love Arabie. Arabie is one of my winter fancy fragrances and one of my first true loves. I do also find Santal Majascule addictive. I also have Bois de Violette, Femininite du Bois, Participe Passe, and I used to have a few more. One I used to have that I loved is Fille en Anguilles.
So many interesting ones! I will check them out thank you! 🙏
Thank you ,i enjoy
Thank you too!
I have Tuberose Criminelle! I wish to have Santal Majuscule.
It’s criminal that I have not yet tends Tuberose Ciminelle!
I own 8 fragrances from SL and love Nuit de Cellophane!!! It's my second favourite SL just after Un Bois Vanille :) I hink people don't like it coz it's not 'niche' enough ;)
Love Nuit de Cellophane! Daim Blond is another Sheldrake fave.😊
Thanks Julie, ah daim blond! Yes that is on my to try list for sure 😃
I really enjoyed this video Tfs
Thanks for watching!
Sadly I have nothing smelled either so I am unable to help 😭
Ambre Sultan - great stuff. Are you a Slav? It's the first thing I thought when I saw your face.
Ambre Sultan is indeed wonderful. My parents are Dutch and Latvian :)
@@TheTopNote Ah right...definitely not Anglo Saxon. Too good looking for that;-) Anyway, thanks for satisfying my curiosity.
Which one of them is more gourmand and sweet ??
I never tried this house xx
Definitely worth checking out! 😃
Un bois vanille is so good
I know this comment comes long after your video but I am a lover of SL. One of the most beautiful perfumes in the world is L'Orpheline
in my humble opinion . It takes my breath away.A little
i dont have any experience with serge lutens. but i do have one coming- the orange.
Fleur d’oranger is really lovely. I enjoy that it has a bit of Tuberose as well
@@TheTopNote Can I ask a question?
It’s so lovely! We are coming into winter here and I’m so looking forward to wearing it :)
Hello, I would like to hear your opinion about L'Eau de Paille. For me, it is summer heat and hay :-)
@@TheTopNote Thank you for replying! 🤩🌼 I love your videos and I really like your voice, it's very relaxing to listen to it 😀❤️
They reformulated all the beautiful fragrances. Chergui is nothing like it’s former self . I’m so sad coz I love this house too
Yeah it’s very different....I only ever had a tiny decant of the original. But I still really enjoy the current version :)
I only have one and it’s jeux de peau
So you’re saying you have a couple of Serge Lutens?? 🤣 I need to get more in-depth with this house
just a coupla 😬😂🙈
Where did you get those in Australia? I reckon you're Aussie?
Hi! I am indeed Aussie. I would have bought a few from Mecca when they still stocked them, some of the older ones I bought overseas years ago. Mecca no longer stocks SL but Myer and DJs do now.
@@TheTopNote Thank you found them in Myer online
一番好きな香りが 同じでした💛
Does ambere sultan have a good projection and is it long lasting?
I think it has moderate projection but it is quite long lasting on me. Maybe 8-10 hours?
I am shocked, but I don’t have any surge Lutens. I have to find one for myself
Oh nice, are there any specific ones that you have your eye on?
@@TheTopNote not really. I think I have to try some samples. Too many blind buys lately, ha ha. Not all of them successful. I used to have Chergui 5 ml sample. I am not sure if I want a full bottle. I am looking for something feminine from SL.
Samples are definitely the way to go. SL is one of my favourite houses, but they aren’t generally safe blind buys. :)
@@TheTopNote I am looking for samples pack but I can only buy samples separately
Hmm good point, I’ve ever seen SL discovery kits, but then I’ve never really looked for them as we have a local store that stocks some of them.
Feminite du Bois is my favorite...........
It’s fantastic, I need to add that to the collection one day!
Cuir Mauresque and Amber sultan 👌👌
🙏🙏🙏
Here we have Serge Lutens $600 Plus Dollar Photobook : ruclips.net/video/vgWhJvsiwgE/видео.html
Starts @ 1:33
nice footage. Pity that the fragrances come in 75ml.
Do they come in 75ml? Mine are 50 and the only other size I’ve seen in Australia is 100ml. Still, 50 is plenty enough for me most of the time. 😊
Hello, Aussie Fragrance suggested youto me. I have sent you message on instagram if you would like to have a look. I was asking if you would be interested to review my fragrances on your channel in Australia if I send u some....brand Federico Mahora xxxx
I too love this house 😍 I have Feminité du Bois, Ambre Sultan and Un Bois Vanille.
I am thinking of buying La Fille de Berlin, La Couche de Diable, and the new Fils de Joie one is very interesting!
Love your channel! Please check out mine if you like 😀
Thanks Julia! 💞
👍👍👌👌🌹🍁🌹🍁🌹💚
Thanks for watching! X
I’d have to blind buy these, but I’m really tempted to take the risk...
You couldn’t get decants off eBay or anything? So many people are hit and miss with SL so I’m not sure they are safe blind buys...maybe Une Bois Vanille if you like vanilla 😊
They are displayed at Sephora.
I just found you! I adore and Im obsessed with Datura Noir, I also love Un bois vanille and Iḿ trying to put my hands on Un Dent de Lait and Tuberose Criminelle, but no luck so far. Xo!
I would love to try TC as well, but it seems to be kinda hard to track down! Thanks so much for watching! 💞
