    For all of you guys who struggle with lyrics I want to share something: I've learned a lot of songs and poems and frankly, for me, so far, it is one of hardest songs to memorize. But it is totally doable. I took up a challenge and it took me about 5 days to memorize all names of the cities. And it is quite universal method for literally any song for me.
    1. Start from easiest parts like intro and refrain to feel the song.
    2. Read lyrics in the begining a lot. Make it easily accessible: print it, make a screenshot and put it on your phone wallpaper or whatever that helps you to reach it when needed.
    3. Let the song you learn get stuck in your head like some unwanted radio hits 😂.
    4. Use the learning curve method to "unforgeting" and refreshing your memory in time.
    5. Use visualization to create some anchor points in text e.g. Springfield- i see Homer Simpson, Cadillac-i see a car etc. It can be even a nonsense, doesn't matter for your brain.
    6. Learn it with small portions, for example: master one verse before moving on.
    7. Try to sing it from the begining til the end but also try to pick some random verses to sing.
    8. Give yourself a time and patience. Forgeting lyrics especially in the begining is a part of learning process.
    9. Try to learn other songs also, the more you memorize in time, the easier it goes. Your brain literally learn... How to learn.
    10. Sleeping helps a lot. One day you think you can barely remember a single verse, the other day you magically remind yourself everything.
    11! Don't frustrate and don' t give up. You're gonna make it, believe me.
    (Sorry for my english. Not my first language 😉)

    You should do the original by Geoff Mack, using the original Australian lyrics.

    Great video for the teaching! I finally understand how to do this song!
    But do you have any videos on help with fingers hurting while playing guitar?

    • @kevinconnor2888
      @kevinconnor2888 4 года назад +2

      There is no cure for that but to keep playing. It will be painful at first, but eventually your fingers will develop calluses and it won't hurt at all. Just make sure you keep playing regularly. If you only play 20 minutes, once a week, your fingers won't toughen.

      Practice has chords 10 15 minutes A-day and I'll bet in about a month you'll have callouses and no pain

    Great lesson. One question, I noticed that on the fifth line of the first verse there is a C7 and a B7 in parenthesis, what does that mean?

    • @songnotes
      @songnotes  6 лет назад +1

      It means, move the B7 shape (x21202) and move that shape up the fretboard 1 fret - but only play the bassiest 2-3 strings (x323xx). Then, slide it back down to a B7. Hope that helps! It was difficult to approach how to write this out in the lesson - hence the parenthesis. Good luck!
