Kevin, just wanted to let you know I'm 65. Been halfway learning this thing since I was 15 and had been so disappointed until I found your channel! I have learned Folsom prison, Walk The line, heart of gold, old man, sweet home Alabama, and paradise. And I only picked it back up three months ago after a 25 year interruption. You slow it down a little, you give tips, and chord progressions. You are the best guitar teacher I have ever had. Please keep up the good work! I usually watch your videos 3 or 4 times to get the chord progressions down and then practice on my own for a few weeks. Then I go back to your video to get the timing right. I generally watch one of your videos an average of 25-30 times before I move to the next song.
i'm just learning guitar at 54 years old and am thoroughly enjoying your videos.. they are super helpful and very encouraging when things aren't going so well
I'm 56 years old and a long time beginner. I intend to stick with it this time. Thank you for saying how many bars. Other RUclips instructors leave that out. Thanks for your time and video.
Great video. I had the wonderful opportunity to see him live in concert in 1981 at the state fair. Amazing concert with June. It’s funny you mention that he made it sound like a train. When he would do those train sounds in concert it sounded like you were on that train. Thank you for posting
Thankyou so much!!!! I've been learning nearly a year and this has just given me another big step up , your brilliant and make things so easy to follow with your chilled approach love it :)
@@Relaxandlearnguitar thank you. If I haven’t said so already, you are the best online guitar teacher out there hands down. There are many many online teachers, with thousands of subscribers, and lots of content. But none have the personal touch that you do.
I am a 22 years old guy from Hungary. Here the country music or Johnny Cash not popular at all but I am absolutely in love in this type of music since I was a child, so I also want to learn how to play these songs. I am going to buy my first guitar and my first song definitely will be the Folsom Prison Blues. In advance thank you so much the tutorial. :)
Nicely done, I've been playing this song since I got my first right handed guitar and I'm left handed, I was 15 years old so rhythm really was my forte all those years ago, same as I play Malcolm Young rhythm guitar ACDC. Bob Marley's style of rhythm was another great influence on me.
I just got a Johnny Cash songbook, which is great, but as always they never show the beats. Your tutorials are great fun,and very well explained, especially the beat pattern. Much appreciated. 🙂🙏🎶🎵🎹
I have to say that boom chicka and the muted base rhythm is by far the best sounding ive heard online… it’s not easy to get that sound!! I’ll keep trying until im dead haha!!
I am getting old and I have to learn the Johnny Cash strum soon. I cry when I hear you play it. I cannot fit the strum into I walk the Line, or any song. Please help.
Hang in there. A little bit each day. In this video I really break down the steps to take to get that sound ruclips.net/video/RbLJy3I-DGg/видео.htmlsi=Sji5vcOxqOumqciR

Thank you for sharing this wonderful lesson. Do you have any suggestions to fill the solos that happen after the second and third verses?

Please, would you do a tutorial for the Paul weller "man of great promise"
Keep up the great videos.
I'll check it out!
Great song man 🎉
One of my favorites!
Nice job 👍 is that a Martin D-1?
Yes it is. My favorite guitar by far.
Nice
Thanks so much. Glad you liked it
even with capo. 1st fret?
No offense, because you are obviously a great picker, and definitely better than I.
But why the capo?
Howdy 🤠 from Tom in 🇨🇱 Texas 🇨🇱
None taken. To play along with the live recording
Capos are often used to match a recording; many singers & groups use capos to avoid having to modify a riff when playing in another key, etc.
Thank you and also thank your wife on the Camera.
Thanks! Vicky does a great job!
Hard
I wanna learn this so bad but I can't get my fingers right or something
Practice a little each day.
Why no mention of Luther Perkins... that's where the sound came from
Good point.
Not E, E7,A and B7?
That would work too
Child
Gonna learn this sh*it now 🫡
Enjoy!
Cuz, I just did 29 days n county.and you do this. Lol😢
