Right on the money Rob !! Alot of these You Tube videos are garbage but there are probably about 6 I watch regularly where the host really knows what they are talking about and has the resume to back it up. Great video !!!!!!!!!!
I watched another short video of this guy and I could tell he was someone that has put an uncountable amount of time thinking on and analyzing pistol shooting. a true student and master of what he does.
One of my shooting heros. Thanks for all you've done for the sport Rob! I still remember watching you and Barnhart and the Jet and all the best at the Steel Challenge in Fresno one year. Best times of my life I have to say. That drove me to excellence and the next year I won the Canadian Speed Shooting Championships. Great example in a great sport.
I remember seeing a video back in the 80s of Rob shooting a 5 steel plate array at a match; I believe it was a Bianchi Cup event. His speed was incredible. The video also showed it it slow motion, which was STILL faster than I could have shot it successfully. Amazing.
Rob IS the real deal. In the early 80's I used to Travel to Tucson to shoot a higher caliber match than I had at the Tombstone range. I shot a colt mkvi accurized by Frank Pachmayr for bullseye shooting. Most of the better shooters wouldn't help you, they were afraid you might beat them. Rob wasn't that way. He put me on to Bill Wilson, and I had a comped 45 made. The 38 super hadn't grown up at that time. He always had time. I used to like watching him with the kids that were there with their parents, and had little to do, except police brass. He was always great with up and coming shooters. By the mid 80's I was the match director for the Cochise Gun Club. Once or twice a year I would have a 2 day shoot. Rob and his friends would always come down to shoot. Of course the Tombstone culture had a lot to do with it. I have always been enamored with his shooting ability, and I agree with Mr Hackathorn that Rob is the best pistoleer ever. The Army reassigned me for 2 years, no guns. Then sent me to Ft Drum NY, no guns, and by the time I returned to AZ, I had lost much of my enthusiasm for the out takes of combat shooting. Thanks Rob for all the help and encouragement you gave me over the years.
You got to love rob. That is the most honest answer you can give if your great at something. He could have said many other things, but he answered it humbly and honestly. He's the g.o.a.t !
Without a doubt the best shooting interview I've ever seen. What you see here is exactly how he teaches; calm, confident and insightful. Find him and learn from him in person at any cost.
Great video to watch over and over again, I really love Wilson Combat 1911s guns and I also like Rob, his one of the best shooters in all United States 🇺🇸 and maybe the entire world
I remember back in the '80s reading gun mags and so many featured Rob in hi shooting gear, head down, smoke coming out of the comp. Also remember receiving some of the first "Wilson Combat" catalogs and looking at those guns and the 47D mags lol! fun stuff!
Rob, your ability to speak into a camera is outstanding! I'll bet that you are a great instructor, with communication skills like that. I really enjoyed this video so "thanks" from a contemporary (I shot IPSC from 1980-1995). Semper Fi, TreeTop
Excellent interview. I had an opportunity to shoot with rob and many of the other guys in the 1980's. I was never competitive at their level but Rob has always been humble and passionate about the sport and willing to spend time helping others. I learned a lot from Rob and others. He built my first 1911 when he ran the custom shop at Springfield armory. Great guy and a friend to all shooters. Thanks!
I miss those days shooting with Bill at Rudd, Rob and Brian would visit and we had some awesome practice sessions. Who would've known how far this would all go?
Have to say, the BEST vid I've ever seen without all the other drama, BS or personal bias about possible little issues other than good grip, align your sights and don't jerk your trigger! WELL DONE! SIR!! A+
Good lord this man hit the nail on the head. I could listen to him talk for hours on the subject. He hit the nail on the head. You tubers telling me how smooth a slide is or how nice a trigger is doesn't do jack shit for me. I went buy a lower end 1911 and I plan to shoot thousands of rounds to see what I like and don't like. Then I'll upgrade. I don't need any fancy features or a $2000 pistol to start off with. I need ammo and practice.
If you want to be the equivalent of Rob Latham, in shooting, playing the piano, whatever, you MUST exercise TOTAL DEDICATION to CONTINUAL LEARNING and PRACTICE.
Honest video with a lot of truth being spread. I am not interested in the competition side of firearms but I understand that today's handguns have benefited from advances made for competition guns years ago that have transferred over to regular production guns.
One day Rob Leatham gave a pro tip on RUclips, which is the one and only tip I give now, when someone ask me for advice. That and of course they should look up Rob Leatham and a few more veteran shooters.
Nice talk about the history of the sport(s). I know USPSA has changed a lot in the five or six years I’ve shot it. BTW, had a picture taken with TGO at the 2012 Single Stack Nationals - super nice guy.
At 22:00 min. or so, Rob Says, … question that. He is so correct too. Einstein said, " Live like you are going to die tomorrow, learn like you are going to live forever, and never stop questioning." I had the privilege of shooting against guys like Rob, Brian, and Jerry Miculek, when I started in 1984. These guys taught me so much that propelled me in my shooting skills, that it carried me to the top of the games in less than a year in competition...but I was that gamesman like Rob. If I lost a match and didn't place 1st, I couldn't sleep for trying to figure out what to change or fix, so I could win the next time...and I did. Still have the trophies to prove it. Well done Rob! … My first full on race gun was a Colt Combat Elite, built up by Bill Wilson, and I won everything and everywhere I went. Also well done Bill ! As I got older and the excitement waned for pistol shooting, I traded that pistol for a horse, and rode him for over 800 miles.
Classy man. I remember when I first started customizing my own guns. I watched Rob shoot and listened to his advice along with Bill Wilson. I also remember that a 1911 looked small in Rob's hands :)
Rob had favorable physical attributes, intellect and discipline to advance his skills in the game that became his passion. That’s usually what you find in any sport when you start to examine those who are long time champions. I started shooting IPSC at about the same time as Rob. I remember those early days. I however didn’t stick with it. I shot my first IPSC match with an unmodified surplus US Army Remington Rand 1911A1 that I bought for 200 bucks.
That was awesome. Definitely very interested in getting in competition should have done it decades ago back in the eighties is actually when I first started thinking about it and I regret not moving into that direction I thank you so much for your yes it's time and the truthfulness about your profession it's very uplifting for a person that is looking for great knowledge I thank you both brothers
A badass? I think not. Maybe a nice guy and all, but please. He shoots plates real fast. He competes in a game with a $3000 toy. As one who has actually been in ACTUAL combat situations, I don't even consider myself a badass. I've seen a LOT of so called "badasses" on the target range who wet themselves when the SHTF.
@@m.loughlin1915 Look, I hear you, and thank you for your service. But the OP was just paying Rob a compliment. And Rob deserves it, he’s world class. And Rob is completely humble, he knows the plates don’t shoot back.
The factory Walther PPQ Q5 has a six pound trigger. Apex Trigger was asked by Walther to create a better trigger. My shooting buddy has a Walther still with the stock trigger and she's starting to beat me. I have been shooting competition for thirty years. She started this year.
Right on the money Rob !! Alot of these You Tube videos are garbage but there are probably about 6 I watch regularly where the host really knows what they are talking about and has the resume to back it up. Great video !!!!!!!!!!
Rob is really underselling what he and Brian Enos has done for the shooting sports.
I watched another short video of this guy and I could tell he was someone that has put an uncountable amount of time thinking on and analyzing pistol shooting. a true student and master of what he does.
Thanks for the motivation and great info Rob.
Very encouraging. I've been idle way too long. I've read about Rob sinse middle '80s. He and many from his early era in Handgunner magazine.
I've been a fan of this champion for a very long time now, I think his shooting is simply amazing.
Class act as a person to his fans as well. Thanks for sharing so much with us Rob!
Don't forget to touch your feet!
I remember seeing a video back in the 80s of Rob shooting a 5 steel plate array at a match; I believe it was a Bianchi Cup event. His speed was incredible. The video also showed it it slow motion, which was STILL faster than I could have shot it successfully. Amazing.

Have been a fan of this man since I was 10. Did a project in school about him. A true legend and student of all things pistol shooting related!!
You got to love rob. That is the most honest answer you can give if your great at something. He could have said many other things, but he answered it humbly and honestly. He's the g.o.a.t !
The Great One indeed..........Thanks for spending some time with us Rob.

Great video to watch over and over again, I really love Wilson Combat 1911s guns and I also like Rob, his one of the best shooters in all United States 🇺🇸 and maybe the entire world
I grew up idolizing Rob during the 80s, greetings from the Philippines
Excellent information! Brian Zins always spoke highly of Rob during his classes. Now I 💯 % see why.

The great one! No questions needed. Just put him in front of a camera and you will get a great video.
Excellent interview. I had an opportunity to shoot with rob and many of the other guys in the 1980's. I was never competitive at their level but Rob has always been humble and passionate about the sport and willing to spend time helping others. I learned a lot from Rob and others. In the mid '80's I RO'd several regional SWPL/USPSA / Steel Challenge matches and always enjoyed when Rob Leatham was squadded on my stage. Great guy.
I took a class from Rob several years ago. It was a very educational experience he knows what he is talking about.
Always GR8! Working 2 of Rob's Technics now, Slow but coming along. Anything from Ken is invaluable. Many thanx 👍 👍 be safe
I miss those days shooting with Bill at Rudd, Rob and Brian would visit and we had some awesome practice sessions. Who would've known how far this would all go?
I have watched a bunch of Rob's videos on RUclips and they are very good.
He said something I know well, you have to love it to reach the high levels of shooting.
Have to say, the BEST vid I've ever seen without all the other drama, BS or personal bias about possible little issues other than good grip, align your sights and don't jerk your trigger! WELL DONE! SIR!! A+

Amazing isn’t it where does life go . Thanks for sharing some history... Honored
Meeting him is on my bucket list.
He is a great guy. I’ve talked to him a couple of times when I’ve run into him here in Mesa Az.
I am a target shooter and enjoy watching him. The crazy thing is people who don't enjoy this type of thing are always impressed with him

Great insights , his dedication and hard work speaks for itself.
The key word is work, and loveing it
What he says about "influencers" is dramatically accurate.
One day Rob Leatham gave a pro tip on RUclips, which is the one and only tip I give now, when someone ask me for advice. That and of course they should look up Rob Leatham and a few more veteran shooters.
the man, the myth, the legend!

Love the explanation of the evolution of these shooting venus we enjoy today. Lots of respect for the pioneers of the shooting sports.
You guys hit a home run with TGO, Merry Christmas to you and yours
This is a fantastic channel.
So much baddassery from everyone on here.
Thanks.
Excellent interview with a great one.

Both of these guys are legends
Thanks for sharing the thoughts of this legend with us!
I knew I liked Leatham for a reason!!!!
Well said. I started out in IDPA and when I started shooting USPSA everyone was so snobbish because I shot IDPA.
Patrick Kennedy I shot both in Texas as did a lot of people, so I never saw a lot of that snobbishness toward organizations.
This guy seems like a real
Intelligent badass.

Sage advice from one of the all time greats!!! Awesome video, thanks for posting!👍👍
Great job Rob.
Rob’s pretty awesome indeed. Good stuff.
Damn, great commentary, fantastic insight and perspective into the evolution of a competitive sport and an industry.
Leatham could have been in Gladwell's book "Outliers". He matches Malcolm's examples perfectly.
Luck is for suckers and Bullshit! Natural talent, Hard work, Sacrifice, and Consistency is what creates success!
Rob, your a 1911 god !!! I've always like no BS...
Excellent information. Thank you.
I envy Rob's ability and luck to get to live a life he loves.
Thanks for the Christmas gift guys 🎄
Thanks for the video and hope you all very Marry Christmas!!!!
A cool informational video. Thanks for making it.
What a great video 👍
Thank you!
Love Rob....
You can get wisdom, insight and bullshit on RUclips. He is the real deal, plenty of wisdom, insight and no bullshit. Very impressive.
Great video!
Rob leatham has won World Championships with numerous gun manufacturers pistols
Outstanding.
Thanks Wilson Combat... also, how does Rob Leatham always look about 45 years old?
Merry Christmas 🎄 and a home run all the videos are great 👍, but this is the tops, great speaker 🇺🇸
I really miss my weekly fix of Rob and Rob in Worlds Collide. 😕
TGO The master, Rob Leatham.
This wasn' t an interview it was an infomercial.
Cool video 👍
“USPSA and IDPA shooters are the same damn people.”
TRIGGERED
Would have loved to see some shooting and tips!
thanks for the video....
been to the mesa gun range many times
The Great One.
"Ad nauseum", something tells me he has seen some Paul Harrell videos😂
Can you do a segment on Jerry Michlueck?
Great guy humble
Do you still have your first Wilson Rob? Thanks for the video.
I would like to get his opinion on the best Shooten gun out of the box...in my opinion I'm going to have to say it's the Walther ppq...
The factory Walther PPQ Q5 has a six pound trigger. Apex Trigger was asked by Walther to create a better trigger. My shooting buddy has a Walther still with the stock trigger and she's starting to beat me. I have been shooting competition for thirty years. She started this year.
Best shooting as far as what?
Be prepared to have your feelings hurt.
He works for Springfield...so I am guessing he would say the XD or the new Hellcat.
Rob is the man!! I will always be a fan.
#Trump2020
Rob vs Jerry miculek? Have they ever competed and who is the best?
How did this video only have 99 comments?
I wish Rob would convince Springfield to come out with a 5.25 Optics ready Competition slide.
No Brag, Just Facts
Did anyone notice that giraffe coming from another dimension?
No but the badger is about tear that fox a new a-hole
The GOAT
Rob and Jerry miculek are the best
Eric Grauffel has won more IPSC world titles than Rob. Would love to see those two battle each other in their primes.
The last time I shot USPSA nationals I walked the prize table with Leatham. Kippi Leatham . . .
Is that a bottle of amarula in the background?
Where can I get on of your shirts Rob?
I wonder what he thinks of Paul Harrel 🤔
