In archery with high end aluminum compound bows, we encounter galvanic (dissimilar metal) corrosion from screwing steel bolts into the aluminum risers. Many archers use their string wax on the bolt threads to prevent galvanic corrosion. We also use anti-corrosion grease or Loctite. I would only use the wax or anti-corrosion lubricant on the saddles, as Loctite would make the saddles harder too adjust. The anti-corrosion lubricant or wax would prevent sweat and other moisture from getting into the threads so Dave would not have to clean/replace the saddles and/or saddle screws!
I can't believe you spent all this time, Unbelievable job .... Bass gets better each video .... I hope you made a lot of money .... Great Job .... I want to get another JBass .... :)
Nice to see someone who knows what they’re doing. I’m going through a novice learning curve/very minor money pit trying to fix an old German Violin. Thanks for the inspiration!
IMO, the BadAss Bridge is Crap! I don't expect anyone to agree with me. My EXPERIENCE dictates that it is no better than the OEM bridge. Dave is the best.
Very impressed with this one, Dave. It seems like you are going out of your way to help us make sense of why it is done this way. I must say that this repair turned out very very nicely! Thank you for sharing it with use. I have been buying files and tools for a while and everything I buy is something that works well for you. Maybe not a tuna sammich, but I like em ;)
The problem is that he does too good work. I had one guitar done a year and a half ago, and another a year before that and they are still in mint playing shape, with incremental truss bar adjustments of course, lol
02:42 Hi Dave. You mentioned working in Special Effects in a heatwave... Do you have to know about the effects of heat on chemicals and explosives used in special effects? Would any of that stuff get unstable in high heat?
I'm sitting here looking at my USA Fender Jazz and the string spacing at the nut appears to be more like the "squished" (narrower-spaced) original than the Tusq replacement. The E and G strings look a lot closer to the edge of the neck with that Tusq. Also: Are you sure that old nut you had didn't come off a Precision?
Awesome job Dave and at our age any day that you wake up is a good day!Love to see woodgrain more than colored wood!being a xcarpenter i like the natural beauty of the wood grain,Cheers .
I wouldn't use wet sand paper on guitar wood. I believe dry steel wool would be better. If the wood absorbs any of the water it could warp. And then you could have tuning and action problems.
That headstock is 1,000% better. Great job.
Classic Fender Jazz Bass. Great job. I'm sure the owner is going to be really happy.

Finally the finale! Interesting restoration.
Another bass brought back from the dead. Great work, as always.
Good Job!!😀👍this one was a bit of a project, what a beautiful 72 Jazz bass ... you've brought new life to yet another bass.
I absolutely love that bass with it stripped down to th wood. The pickguard looks great with it!
That finish is awsome.
bravo to you Dave
as a guitar player
i always watch Bass setups.
it shows poeple.....BASS ROCKS
Love your multiple "There! Fished!" on the polishing :)
Beautifully sorted!😎👍

Good looking bass.
Great result, it matches the age of the bass perfectly!
Good to see that nice Bass leaving your hospital all better again ....

Another awesome intro! They just keep getting better
i like that natural wood with tortoise shell pick guard.
Nice job Dave, looks good.
Great work, Dave and cool video as always-thank you! This is a process ordinary mortals don’t usually get to witness.

Great stuff as always, Dave. Dave for President!

Those Tiny Screws could not be any worse.

Beautiful bass!
I'm always curious a) how much time went into a job like this and b) what the total cost ended up being.
Nice bass Thnx Dave
A happy ending. Who doesn't love it when Dave has a happy ending?
Another bass Ungooched. Well done
Great job! Awe, no belt sander for the headphone users... ✌️
The problem is that he does too good work. I had one guitar done a year and a half ago, and another a year before that and they are still in mint playing shape, with incremental truss bar adjustments of course, lol
A hot time in the old melon tonight. LoL
What a marathon!
Dave, you are obliged to play Rush's "Working Man" after you put that bass together....
Great job! That was a ton of work to - wonder what that Un-Gootching cost??

@@DavesWorldofFunStuff Thanx for the quick reply Dave. Have a great weekend.
"Did I say the 'F' word?" hahaha...Do you mean, "Fender"? hehehe
I honestly think I'd take the headphone noise of sanding over the buffer any day
Shooting in Canada dave?

To be fair, I thought the G string was slightly too close to the edge of the fingerboard with the new nut. Comment, Dave?
Wow, I’ve watched over 100 of Dave’s movies and I’m the first to post a message? Where is everyone?
Twat!
Is there instonenation on a bass guitar?
yes

Dave.......isms. ✌️😎🎸👌✌️
5:55 Chuck LEWIS. Just a guess.
Typewriters were tested across each letter of the alphabet, with " The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog." There is another one....

He was using the wet paper on a sealed surface, so was not touching the wood. This was a polishing phase ..
@ John Simms Tell that to just about every instrument manufacturer in the world.
(...not to mention fine furniture manufacturers and woodworkers ...)
@@DavesWorldofFunStuff ... not even on a steel sheep ... ? LoL
💙👊😎
QUESTION PLZ: Why soak the sandpaper?
Good job Dave
Is it ash bodied? Looks of it’s time...
Not gonna lie...
I watched this without a mask.
Just the reality of the situation.
I had a mask on, and I swear I don't know how Spiderman does it every day, squinting out of those eyehole-thingies.
Nah, if the sticker peals then just dig out the belt sander and let her have it! Ha, ha! 😉
A sticker is not a bell.
@@Ndlanding Hmm, what are you talking about?
@@ToddSauve Bells peal. Stickers peel. Clear?
@@Ndlanding Duh! I get it now! Good catch. I should have known better! Ha-ha! ;)
What was today's sandwich?
I guess you're a bassist by the way you tested this.
Dave has stated before that he only knows enough guitar to aid in song writing, otherwise bass is his instrument
Dave, I know you find it funny with the headphone peoples and what not. But, that intro was bad even for us speakers folks... ;) just saying...
Yeah, he should fuckin' apologize (or is it apologise in Canada?).
Your gloves are scary
You should of left the ears on the nut. Start a new fad. Like the fins on an old Cadillac.
Great job. You wear a mask. Don't tell me to.
S DeFalco you’re expected to wear pants, why is a mask such a big ask?
I didn't know porn was allowed on youtube
20 thou at first fret? That's way too high!
