its the little details that ensure the longevity of an engine. leaving those little pieces of gasket material from the original base gasket can cause premature leaks FYI. also if you coat the washers on the head bolts with a light coating of oil it will give you a more accurate torque yield to the head.
Why NOT GAB THE RINGS first in cylinder and then use feeler gages to check tolerance (you MAY need to gently file) using the proper rings rotating filer, now it’s just a question so don’t go hating on me I’m just curious. SCOOBS UK.
you didn't talk about setting the width of the gap in the two top rings. maybe it was already done by the manufacturer... was that not specified in the instructions?
hahahahhahaa, same engine ung honda grom sa XrmFi sa pinas, pero d pwd mag upgrade lg kaagad, nagpapalit sila nang ECU for new timing sa ignition coil tsaka sa feed nang injectors, nu bayan kita upgrade parang plug and play lg
You only need one click on a torque wrench. When you click it twice you may possibly over torque it. Just helping you out for future reference bud. I know this vid is old just letting you know for future reference.
Click type torque wrenches typically under torque. Unless you're dealing with very tiny measurements, a second click is necessary to ensure you're as close to the specified torque as possible. Even then, your torque will still be off +/-4%.
@@armdrop101 Not when you're aiming for 50hp. The 190/212 just needs part of the mounting bracket on the engine casing shaved down in order to fit onto the grom frame. Same for if you want to put it on a ct70/ct90 frame.
Don’t you need to change your timing chain with the 4v head? I also read that you need a stronger starter with a 4v head too. Just wondering since I’m about to buy this kit for my grom.
I’d say around 20-30hp. Depending on how aggressive of a tune. I’ve seen dyno results of 30+hp. I’d say ours was closer to 20ish with the conservative tune and rev limiter set. Plenty fast though.
Koso recommends keeping it at 9800-10k RPMs. Should be fine if you don’t abuse it. We added extra support bearing for the crank shaft last week also. Plus we will be adding a proper tune to this build. Should be good for awhile however at some point we will add the bigger crank so we can really open it up.
he also needs a stronger chain for the valves because the stock will wear out real fast ! i heard 2000 miles with the stock valve chain if you go longer it will snap ! the koso kit is great but a kitaco neo kit has all the stronger parts you need .

i spent all day watching the build vids so i could catch up and it was will worth it and the bike is coming to gather very nice
Thanks for watching :)

@photogromer can't wait to see the bike on the Smoky Mountain crawl
I think that crankshaft you refer to may be a connecting rod lol

In the yamaha service manual they even recommend filling the head stud threads with oil before assembly for true torque to yield results
Usually the torque spec is for dry, if u lube and they didn’t specify it’ll come out too tight
Can't wait to see how it's runs
The tech form Partzilla said to not apply to much oil on the cylinder wall because the rings need to cut into the hoaning of the cylinder.
ok listen to him, he probably knows more on the subject
@@Photogromer :D Nice one! Thanks for the answer! :D Very cool build! Love the channel!
I love your group ride videos
Why didn’t you check the ring gap in the cylinder?
It's starting to come together.
I been waiting for this a long time thank you!!!! 👍🏻
They actually make piston ring pliers ($5) to install rings without risk of them breaking performing the method shown in this video
In Indonesia we have custom 125 cc engine into 250cc twin cylinder.
Engine exactly the as Honda Future 125 carburetor in Malaysia 🥰🥰🥰
YAY THX FOR THE AWSOME VIDEOS homeslice dawg
Photogromer what kind of crazy engine can you put in the Grom, can you do a 125cc 2 stroke in it, crazy moto!!!
I like the dirt bike tricks😂🤣😂
Just bought a 2023 grom any idea when Koso will come out with big bore for my year?
Rocker arm😂😂😂 how about maybe a rod? And those wrist pin stoppers😂😂😂 how about circ clips?
Great video. I like the details! Just one question does the stock exaust would fit on the big bore kit or would it need mods? Thanks !!!

9:15 that looks rough. maybe use a plastic scraper instead of a metal razor
Between big bore and engine swap (like ZS190) what do you guys think it's better? What's the mpg and weight difference after this?
190 won't fit a grom frame
@@armdrop101 It will, you just have to cut a small part of the engine casing.

Where I can buy the head and block from Philippines
how much its cost the set head and bore?
Which camera do you use to take pics.

stock crankshaft on this 4v kit ... the engine is soon dead !

buy kitaco crankshaft on webike it's not expensive and your engine can survive

monkey-tuning is it the big end rod bearing that fails? I’d sort of expect the small end to seize on the pin with just the little oiling hole

this man is really spinning the engine backwards?!
