  • Hey Collectors! In this video we're going to take a look at the Star Wars helmet products made by Xcoser. Overall, I would say use extreme caution when making a purchase from them, but sometimes they still produce a decent product! I'll talk you through what to look for when it comes to buying or avoiding this company.

    I took a good, close look several time on these. Particularly on their Captain Rex helmet. But never caved in, because something just did not look right to me. Now that you mentioned the front is too big, I saw it too. In the end, I decided to go for a Black Series Clone Trooper helmet. Even if these are not 100 % screen accurate and far too large for me, they simply look gorgeous. And if I want, I can convert it into a Captain Rex bucket.

      I'm glad you're pleased with he Black Series helmet - I think they are much more successful too! Good news, a Captain Rex Black Series helmet is on the way, so stay tuned for that!

    I've done a few reviews myself on these, and I can say for the "realistic" clone helmets, the proportions are very odd. However the clone wars versions of FOX and Vaughn, are well made for the price. My biggest issue is buying from them directly, they do not except credit card....But I have 4 of their helmets so far and really like 3. Great video! and Keep it up!

    • @StarWarsCollected
      @StarWarsCollected  6 месяцев назад

      Wow! They don't use Credit Card? How do you purchase them? PayPal? Mine have come from Amazon and Ebay I think so I haven't ran into that issue. If I collected the clone wars style buckets I'd be really tempted to try out the two you recommended! I just like my items more in that live-action look and feel.

      Wow! Thanks Chris! After releasing this video, I've gotten some feedback from others that perhaps some of them have gotten better. For one it seems that more of them are cast, like the Fennec Shand helmet that I actually like. But overall they do seem to be a little undersized no matter what is chosen. However, if there's one your really like and looks good online to you, if it's something you can purchase from a place with free returns (Amazon), it may be worth trying out! If not, I'd probably skip most of their pieces. I hope that helps even more and thanks for watching!

    I’m glad you’ve looked at these because the only reviews out there seem to be by those who received free helmets.
    I was looking at the Fennec helmet myself but was put off by the visor & lack of movement in the face guard. For not too much more you can get one fan made that’s adjustable.
    I’m also not a fan of their logo on the back, I get they want to take ownership but it could easily of been places out of sight.
    I’m still not convinced at £109 it’s worth it but I’d possibly take a punt at £50.

    • @StarWarsCollected
      @StarWarsCollected  6 месяцев назад

      Happy to do it! Totally agree with your criticisms, but for me, it's going to be put on a helmet stand and onto a shelf so once I remove that visor, I think it'll display pretty well. So many of the other pieces are just horrific though. Perhaps they will continue to improve and be a real option some day!

    An EXCELLENT video, Johnathan! I don't think you were too hard on them at all. I have none of their helmets because I, like you, notice regularly that they are 'off' looking and and not of the quality I want for my collection. But, I get asked often by my viewers about this company and I've only been able to offer conjecture until now. From here on, I am going to point people who ask me about Xcoser to this very video. I agree with everything as you presented it and it was very fair. I'm glad I can put that to rest now! Can't wait to see more of your helmets upcoming.

      Thanks so much Paul! Try to keep it positive here, but I owe it to the people watching to be honest and help them make smart choices. It would seem they’ve gotten better over the years so maybe someday they’ll be a Black Series competitor and we’ll have a new viable option! Until then… buyer beware 😅

    Pronunciation is x Causer as in cosplay.
    They aren’t plastic they’re cold cast resin. The logo can be filled and sanded smooth. Some of them can be bad. But for the most part they are excellent for customizing and weathering work they accept paint very well

    • @StarWarsCollected
      @StarWarsCollected  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the pronunciation... that does make some sense. While my Fennec Shand does seem to be a more firm material, my Praetorian guard is definitely a soft, semi-flexible PVC-like material. They often seem to be a bit undersized, but if they can get the shape correct, they could be used as a base for a custom piece.

    To each their own. I have a few xcoser helmets in my collection (Death trooper, Cody, Fives, Crosshair’s imperial helmet, Echo’s Bad Batch helmet and Tie Fighter pilot) that aren’t anywhere near screen accurate but for my taste, they are better than these two helmets you purchased. I will however agree with you that the Rex helmet is particularly awful looking.

    Thanks for the video! I have a few of their helmets, and really want to like them in general, but their helmets are always a little small. If they increased the size about 20-25%, I'd buy more. The actual aesthetics for the ones I've bought are actually pretty good, in my opinion anyway

      @@StarWarsCollected I have fennec's, and overall like it quite a bit, like it sounds like you do for the price point. I also have the death trooper and scout trooper. The death trooper looks great except for the scaling. It is undersized, which makes it unwearable for me, and also makes it look a little strange. I don't ever plan to wear it really, but for some reason it bothers me knowing I can't. For the scout trooper, I honestly wouldn't recommend it, almost exclusively because the black series helmet is better in my opinion. Before the black series helmet, I'd have said the same thing about it as the death trooper: it looks great, IF it being a little underscaled doesn't bother you

    I got the Peacemaker helmet from these guys. I was wary but I'd seen their stuff around and couldn't find another option and it was cheap so I gave it a shot.
    It's kinda ok. The logo is a bit annoying and the fitting/gluing of the inside padding was very clearly a rush job. The big problem is the insane amount of bubbling on the surface. I don’t know if that’s from the mold or the paint but it’s A LOT. Fortunately, the paint is such a nice, brilliant chrome that it does a decent enough job of masking the imperfections from a short distance. You can tell they’re there…but if you’re not looking for them it’s well enough.

    • @StarWarsCollected

      That's good to hear! I noticed a lot of waviness on the Fennec Shand piece, maybe that's what you're experiencing too. Did you notice if it was undersized or not?

    Perfect video for me. I've been eyeing up Fennec Shands helmet on xcoser for ages because of the low price, but seemed a bit sketchy. It definitely wasn't 50 dollars low, though. You got a total bargain. More like 120 dollars over here. But still way cheaper than others I've seen. So I'll definitely bite the bullet and buy myself one from them now after seeing your vid. Thanks. If anyone has one of their AT-AT helmets, I'd love to know if they are decent quality, just as a display piece, not for cosplay.

    • @StarWarsCollected
      @StarWarsCollected  6 месяцев назад +1

      I'm so glad it was helpful for you! I think of all the ones I've seen, Fennec Shand is by far the best. I haven't seen the AT-AT helmet in person, but looking at it quickly online... The eyes, and the greebles around the eyes look pretty off. The tusks are also the wrong scale and it does have those etched in imperial cog logos on top too. I'd probably skip it, but maybe you could order it from a place with free returns?

      @StarWarsCollected I'm in Ireland, so my options are limited unless I want to pay twice as much for something with shipping and customs charges.
