    Saw the show 6/24/17. Walked into box office and got a single seat in the third row. Two and a half hours of sheer magic. Saw Bette and David at their best. Superb cast. Seeing Bette (and David)....In Dolly....on Pride Weekend...it doesn't get any better than that!!!!!

    When she came out for the curtain call at the performance I went to, the screams almost deafened me. No matter; this is simply a tremendous evening in the theatre, and God knows I've had many of them over the decades.

    OMG! She's so nice! A huge Hollywood star shaking hands with her audience.

    • @edgetaker
      @edgetaker 7 лет назад +14

      She did that, too, with fans waiting after the show by the stage door. They had a huge barricade around her car, but she went around and quickly shook hands with as many as she could (including me!). She wouldn't sign anything..saying to someone, "oh, honey, if I did that I couldn't get to all these people!".

    I took my 9-year-old daughter to see this for her birthday. Bette Midler was my mother's favorite performer (and, sadly, never got to see her live) and I used to sing the title song to my daughter when she was little. It was a very special day and a very special show.

    What I wouldn't give to see this show. I was fortunate enough to see the Divine Miss M in the early 70s. I was 12 or 13. Barry Manilow was her pianist, Katy Sagal was one of the Harlettes. Her jokes were raunchy, her stage presence was fierce, and she was instantly and forever my favorite performer ever. I can't imagine a better role for her onstage... this thrills me!

      EagleRockers I highly doubt she will be touring. Donny Murphy is co headlining the show as Dolly to ease Bette's schedule. You should try to catch her in Broadway before it's too late. There are seats available in the fall. Be sure to check her vacation schedule.

    • @treesny
      @treesny 7 лет назад

      Why are you "shocked"? David Hyde Pierce has a number of outstanding Broadway credits -- as actor or director -- in both plays and musicals, and won the 2007 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical for the Kander & Ebb musical "Curtains." The informational gulf in this country between live theater and film/television is truly bizarre, as witness the TV obituaries for Sam Shepard that described him solely as a film actor, and neglected to mention the little fact that he was one of our finest playwrights. :)

    How did you get those seats? Did you have to be entered in a draw or something? Also what is it like sitting front row for that Theatre? Are you at eye level with the stage or are you looking up the whole time? I sat front row for Phantom and it was perfect!

    • @BuddyBroadway
      @BuddyBroadway  7 лет назад +2

      I bought them 8 months ago. There are plenty front row seats in the fall on official site, which were previously unavailable. Its not so bad b/c most of the acton happens in front of the conductor, couple times they come up to the front bridge, and the angle isn't good but you get real close to Bette. Front row isn't always the best choice, depends on the show and arrangement. The worst is when the stage is too high and or the orchestra pit cuts off leg room.

    • @ryanrafuse9054
      @ryanrafuse9054 7 лет назад +1

      BuddyTravelr Thank you so much! Would you recommend front row for this show?

    • @BuddyBroadway
      @BuddyBroadway  7 лет назад +5

      Front row is twice the cost. But if that's not an issue, yes for the chance to shake hands with Bette. Choose seats just closer to where she starts shaking hands. I was the last person she touched in the center orchestra, and I was dead center.

      The entire live performance of Hello! Dolly is less than 2 minutes? This is just the cast taking their bows, not the entire live performance At this point, are they performing? or just themselves taking the applause from the audience? I'd say the latter, myself, but that's just me.
