Youve helped a ton...Second, have you any idea why my clone 70cc semi auto just shifts in circles? 4 down but if in 4th you can hit down again into 1st right over neutral, about fliped over the bars at speed, no fun. HI Wise’s! I don’t work on “customer” bikes. It just takes the joy out of work. But, Im not familiar with the 190 or the 212. Its seems that converting to a semi auto should be pretty straight forward. Ill bet you could find the parts needed on eBay. In fact, if you want to sell the 4 speed, I might be interested in buying it.

    • @brian.d.mobley
      @brian.d.mobley  Год назад +1

      Hi GVN19: There can be a number of reasons why this could happen. Missing parts is the most likely. The clutch on these motors is restrained from tuning by the interference tab of the locking washer. If that washer is installed correctly, it’s virtually impossible for the clutch nut to loosen. Beyond that, I really have to have the motor in front of me to evaluate it properly. I’ve gotten away from diagnosing mechanical problems over the Internet as so many variables can be causal. Consult the service manual and start over. You can figure it out!!

    • @gvn-xk6eq
      @gvn-xk6eq Год назад +1

      @Brian D. Mobley cheers for the reply mate the locken washer with the tab on us bent so I'm guessing it's that I've got a new clutch coming tomorrow so I'm going to try that I've only got a torque wrench with a minimum of 60 NM 45ft lbs so il just tighten it half way but my guess is bent tabs on the locken washer

      Hey Lars! Well, BE CAREFUL first of all. Make sure all the bolts holding the cover are off. Makes sure the kickstart is off. Oil drained too, obviously! The most common reason it doesnt want to come off is because its stuck around the shift shaft. Try wedging razor blades between the cover and the cases on the opposite side of the cover from the shift lever. Work the blade around. That SHOULD break the seal of the gasket. Take your time and dont force it!

    • @brian.d.mobley
      @brian.d.mobley  2 года назад

      Oh man…! No bueno. The most common shifting problems come from the “star” on the selector drum not being righted to spec. BUT, there are other reasons that may cause this. The spring loaded arm that “hooks” the pins on that drum get bent on occasion which can cause this neutral select issue. Sometimes the same mechanism can hit a casting protrusion near where the shaft onto which the shift lever mounts. The fix for that is a bit of grinding on the shifter shaft mechanism where it hits this casting. There are so many things that it could be.

    • @CraigLaCourt
      @CraigLaCourt 2 года назад

      @@brian.d.mobley thank you so much for replying. I realize it’s not your product but do you happen to know what bike they source the kit from? I feel like there should have been either a set screw or set pin that holds the lever arm in place where it enters the side cover (I realize it’s not what we were already talking about). The kit we got didn’t have one so ther is no way that this arm stays in place and keeps working out the front of the cover. I contacted TBolt but they only referenced the install directions (which I had already used along with your excellent video). If I know what it’s sourced from I can try to find the exploded fiche and verify if there should be a pin or set screw.

      @Brian D. Mobley I thought this was semi auto to manual, I was curious if you can do fully auto to manual, or cvt to manual

      @@jesusmaryandjoseph6 I guess I misunderstood. I’m not familiar with this motor being configured when there is no foot actuated shifting (semi auto). I am not aware of a bike using this motor that is fully automatic or constant velocity.
