Meet Joe Vogel, a 27-year-old who is currently the youngest state delegate serving Maryland’s legislature. We join Joe on the trail as he campaigns for Congress while juggling student debt, a packed field of candidates and criticism that he “looks like a teenager.”

I’m 68 years old and I would vote for him. Everyone over 65 years old should retire from Congress. Pass the torch to much younger people. I am a liberal Democrat raised by WWII era liberal Democrats. I dislike being stereotyped as conservative simply because of my age.

I don't care how old or what color a person is, but if that person is as opurtunist and empty worded as someone who is triple their age, then I'm still not voting for them. If you don't talk about your policies and what your for and just offer me word salad, don't waste my time.

Just for transparency I'll let you know I am a boomer. I've been saying for years that younger people more representative of what's happening now need to be in politics. I don't believe it was intended for politicians to be there for a lifetime. It's time to open up the ranks and let the young people in

The Freshmen Democrats would gladly overspend and have argued that the national debt isn't their first priority...
Some of the newer members who have received second terms in the House are beginning adjust their extreme ideology because they understand they are incapable of exacting change because there is an equal opposition to that change and they need to negotiate with that opposition in order to make even the smallest progress...
Do you really believe new and inexperienced representatives can effectively govern without the experienced senior representatives to lead them?
If we had only newly elected representatives we wouldn't have gotten the infrastructure bill, IRA or even a budget passed this term...

First, among the newer members, a balanced budget isn't even in the top ten of their priorities...
Their anger over losing BBB is proof of that and part of their argument was that a balanced budget isn't as important as getting their desired legislation passed is...

Biden got Kevin McCarthy to agree to a 2019 ceiling cap on the budget because Biden has 50 years of experience in negotiating with the opposition...
Nancy Pelosi was an effective Speaker who drew from her decades of experience as a federal representative...
The same representatives you claim could balance our budget voted against IRA because it didn't spend enough...
We have an evenly split Congress...
No Freshman member has passed a bipartisan bill because they can't be bipartisan...
That's where experience comes in and you only gain that experience with longevity...
Someday, some of these young representatives are going to be old representatives that your children are going to be screaming about term limits because of, if we're lucky enough to have a Democracy by then...
@@jayscott921actually, the founding fathers of the nation did warn about these things and many others. George Washington 57. Thomas Jefferson 57. John Adams 61. Benjamin Franklin never held the presidency. Alexander Hamilton died at 47. John Jay was 33 and Continental president 1778 New York representation. James, Madison 57. Majority of these men died in their '80s. George Washington died at 67. The average age of a male in this country is 79 for death. It dropped to 73 during covid. So age is the determining Factor of to old😂😂😂.

Regardless of my beliefs if people want something then something should be done .
Id set up a website where people can vote on legislature or add amendments using artifical intelligence and cater to overall opinions.
People need to remember the 80 and 90 year olds in politics were not that old to begin with. It has to do with voter not taking the time to be an informed voter. A lot just for voted for the familar person regardless of there good or bad stance.

It good to see the young people running for office
The first red flag is him pitching the 'historic' nature of his potential win by listing-off elements of his make-up that say nothing about his qualifications or merit. Even a whiff of identity politics should be anathema to electability, in my opinion.

I left maryland because of the people running the state are trash. He does not look any better so far. We care to much about who and what they are in ther personal life and not enough on what they plan to do in their role and from what the little amount this segment showed he would not get my vote. He stands for most of the same that the old guard does...hes just claiming to do what they do but better. Thats not how you fix the issue.

While I’m republican, but tired of my party refusing to compromise with democrats to solve problems.
Certain things aren’t up for compromise like civil liberties specifically those outlined in the bill of rights and multiple Supreme Court rulings have reinforced this.
The only reason why I would vote for someone I mean for one individual that’s talking about the pros and cons. My main concern is over and beyond the fact that they can talk about the changes that they wanna make will they be capable to overcome the big guys without getting stepped on, I know he feels he can that’s the good old American Spirit, but we need Jesus in Congress would make a difference. I don’t think one individual with no background against the heavyweights sound like a waste of time again we must Understand God first. Think about it.

He was born in January of 1997. The general consensus is that Gen Z started between 1996 and 1998. He's borderline, but he qualifies as Gen Z.

Good ideas, but there’s going to have to be more of a generational shift before you see a lot of young folks in office. Many who are politically active under the age of 30 have wildly different politics from the current status quo politicians, and they aren’t going to be able to mesh well with the current system.
Also, many under the age of 30 have wildly different politics than the rest of the country, so more of the boomers, and probably Gen X will have to die off before they can be implemented…
The point you’re maybe missing is that they don’t need to mesh with it, they need to change it.

Not a good reason at all to vote for someone, might as well NOT vote. Perhaps that might be a reason why the younger generation is so rude and entitled. They tell you to do something and you do it. They ask for something, you give it. As a 30 year old, this KID is literally not giving any reasons why people should vote for him. He should have laughed when she asked about people saying he looks like a kid. It’s good to have people who have a sense of humor and can also give a respectable answer instead of choosing to not comment on that. He’s incredibly woke and that is ruining the world. @@Olichristo I did my research on him. what I like about him so far he's been fighting for people who are on Social Security Medicare. trying to bring it down to make everybody cheaper. trying to give us more money he's been fighting. but he doesn't have the help he needs he's also for climate change and like that. I said there's a whole bunch of other stuff he wants to do. I hope he makes it and gets in there but he can't do it by himself .
