if you have omnisphere, type in "bizarre guitar" a lot of the presets used for silent hill 2 can be found there. also using granular synthesis can help to make those really lush pads.
I like to listen to such music in the car when you come home from work late at night, tired and angry like a demon, such music helps to relax. Great audio sequence.

The rain needs to be a little bit louder. Probably by a few decibels or at the very least indoor rain is just as good as outdoor rain can easily be confused with white noise
