  • It's never easy when a project goes out of scope or you have to work extra hours, but I think it's best to go with the flow and then address the problem at a later time. It's better to look like a team player than someone who is looking to clock out at their end of day.

The best tip here was to always say yes so that when you do say no they’ll have to respect it

      Push the deadline slowly every week (1hr, 1hr 8min, 1hr 15m, etc).
Find the root cause and adjust man.

I'm tbh not really much better, I lose motivation after a while. I hate to say it. but having a plan on how you do it makes you significantly more efficient in executing task. This doesn't surprise me since more information you have, and more information you know. is going to cut back on how much extra effort required to finish the task. My personal approach to this is to probably look at 5 w's or possibly 6w's, what, when, who, how, why and where.
      1. What/Who - what task is you have to do (with who?, likely just you, but could be others as well).
      2. Why - Why should you complete the task, what do you get out of it??? is it really worth it? will help in long-term future.
      3. When/Where - Involves, looking at task and understanding preciselyyy when and where you plan to implement the plan. (I beleive called implementation-Intention). which to me really just means separating out task in head so that it becomes metaphor, sticks out to you.
+ How - How do you plan the task. what things do you plan to use to make task easier. involves decision making/tactics/pieces of information that lend itself with making task easier. what things do you know already that will help.
Something Learnt Recently. Separate into 3 steps. plus bonus step of task itself, tactics/strats/Decisions that could further make task easier. Task-Oriented Solutions.
and 5W's (6w's even) is something I already knew. and fit well into each chronological step. Really its about how you intend to 'Slay' the task. imagine its an enemy and you have a sword and intent to execute the thing in front of you (a dummy/enemy). Id say 90% of it is knowing exactly how. alloting time to Pre-Executing of the plan itself and then Actual-Execution. it's like Technique-Development for the task. My previous mistake beforehand was just DOING the task (with none of these tips), because task itself was on my mind (really illusive/deceptive). but it's actually opposite. it's preparing how you will do task first and THEN once decided, then you do it. no-one ever just wants to 'DOO' a 'TASK' or even a difficult task/one (or one takes a long time). you want to study psychological elements/morale elements of plan first to see what your getting out of it. which really provides the BRAIN-FUELLL to execute the plan. Like now where it was just you, you now have a harness strapped to you to complete the plan. like Hydraulic Suit or something. you know how to 'carry it' better, and resources themselves take lot of the 'weight'.
Amazing how much of a plan can solve. by understanding elements that didn't seem like part of the plan in the first place. but really very much integral part of the plan. (because like it or not, it will always be part of problem-solving of task itself, now took away much of that weight, additional weights not don't need to carry that are problem way heavier than you would think). I beleive comes with Preparation/Having a Plan (Also supported by Science). Called this 6w's into 3w's, what/who, how/why, when/where. (Compact-W's). How carry weight of task itself. Also knowing how often you realistically work in a week Ive head helps as well. because then your aware of how long work and that awareness alone has self-strengthening elements to it.

I'm a dishwasher at a busy restaurant, so I'm busy ALL the time. Yet I don't take a single break. This is so I can get out in just under 6 hours at the earliest.
I put in a ton of work, and get to go a bit earlier. That's my personal ethic, and taking my 10 or going for a quick bathroom break doesn't affect that schedule. (This doesn't work If you're a closer obviously)
