I think the thing that isn't highlighted here is the headshot multiplier. All the SMG's get 1.2x damage while the PDW's get 1.5x. So 42 damage to the head really improves the TTK, but it also balances the gun out. That's why it absolutely feels insane when you're hitting your shots.
Really weird how the devs decide to nerf extended mags with bad running speed, ads time and reload speed. Meanwhile they have a 50 round pdw with similar running speed to smgs and good reload time. They need to make extended mags more viable on other weapons and decrease reload speed on the p90.
It's also fine for the P90 to just be powerful. It's a flanking and ambush gold weapon for me, I think it's very powerful but not OP. Like you said, slow the reload a bit and the also sloe velocity generally balances the rest. The low velocity is the bigger issue to fight with for me, it means you sometimes lose fights because your bullets are too slow and you need to learn to lead it. For this reason it's only really powerful if you use it for it's intended purpose, so skilled players are rewarded. This is a good thing in an FPS to have because it feels great and can be countered if you recognise the sound and spray then act accordingly.
i really think they should buff extended mags instead of nerfing the p90, currently i think a lot of guns would be so much better if they had viable higher magazines, guns like the honey badger and AS val are just so lacking because of their extended mags being horrible, idk i come from games like 2042 or tarkov which constantly have higher mags with small downsides compared to the advantages and i’m surprised how much they disincentivize running them in this game
imo magsize alone makes it op for most game modes where other guns struggle simply because you won't be able to easily take out 3-5 guys with a single mag like the P90/Vector can
@@DerRofflers I know. I was just challenging your logic a little. I don't personally think the P90 is OP. The uptime is great but that alone doesn't make it OP. To kill 3+ people with a mag you need to have great game sense and some luck as well since the TTK isn't anything insane you basically need to be shooting people in the back to take advantage of the large mag size, otherwise you get mowed down by stronger weapons.
@@Remu-I rate mag size highly considering all the times I died while reloading or being like 1-2 bullets short to secure a kill, plus you lose momentum while pushing/flanking when you have to retreat behind cover to reload (basically giving the enemy time to locate and swarm you). I'm sure we would see more AR play too if extended mags weren't so punishing. I only play 127v127 though so maybe it's not such a big advantage in other modes, generally I think SMGs/PDWs are overtuned though.
Its the confidence boost you get from using the gun, you know instead of a 50/50 chance its now a 60/40 or even 70/30 that your winning and for some reason your game sense increases when running it. Gun really makes you play different and the amount of mags/ammo you get is honestly iirc its 450 to 500. just nutty.
I don’t think it’s as OP as the prenerf vector but I also don’t think the P90 is in need of a nerf and more of other things need adjustments. ARs are good but still beaten by SMGs 90% of the time, DMRs are horrendous, and LMGs are fun but slow. So that just leaves the meta guns and rush kind of play styles and makes the P90 really good.
Honestly if it got the Vector damage falloff treatment it would still be a great gun. Maybe a personal thing but I feel that all ARs should be outclassing SMG class weapons at medium ranges almost every single time. Right now they feel like a coin flip.
Crazy how everyone thinks the meta is a single gun at a time, when the meta was always fire rate + magazine size. All they need to do - all they EVER had to do - was nerf the bullet accuracy of SMGs (increase spread pattern size).
Its not OP but it is probably one of the strongest weapons in the game, what keeps it from being OP is that it has a bad TTK and is relatively bad at range, any decent AR, LMG or the Mp5/Mp7 will win the mid range fight. But i do think the reload speed for how much ammo it has is a problem, it needs to have a longer reload time (maybe less mags as well?) and then I would say its fairly balanced. A good example of an OP gun is the FAL, which I would like if you talked about it in a vid in the future :) But yeah the FAL has it all pretty much, insanely fast TTK (can 2 shot people even), decent fire rate and very easy to tap fire to make it into a DMR for longer ranges. The huge recoil on it isn't even too big of an issue as I commonly find myself getting kills at 100+ meters away even when spraying since you only need to land a couple of bullets. Either way, good video Wong, I really enjoy the insight you give with these videos as you cover a lot of the bases that no other youtubers do.
Wouldn't call it op at all but its a nutty force multiplier, if a player with good game sense and aim is using it, things a fucking monster. Unlike the vector that was kind of just great no matter who used it.
I use this exclusively with a suppressor. The reason this gun is not op, is the velocity and higher ttk than others. You trade off outright lethality of other guns, for quality of life with the mag size/reload speed. I don't think this gun needs a nerf but it is probably #1 for smg/pdw Edit: The issue is with the other guns. SMGs need less downside when using extended mags. Also some SMGs have just ridiculously slow reload speeds. The MP7 for example to me is extremely slow to the point where its not realistic. Some guns need a buff, like the PP2000 is hot garbage, the honey badger needs a slight buff. The ASVAL also needs much less downside with extended mag. The ScorpionEvo is hot garbage but if its recoil was buffed a lot it would just be oppressive like the vector.
Absolutely astounding that another high ROF, high capacity, sub machine gun filled the void the vector nerf left behind! Didn't see it coming! Jokes aside reload time kills me in this game. Combat is very quick but my dude is fumbling around for 3-4 seconds reloading an M4. I don't want reloads to be too fast but some guns definitely feel glacially slow for their class and how many rounds they have.
P90 really only needs a reload nerf. Tested it a couple of times and found its ranged potential to be quite limited, or at least difficult to control. Everything else is strong, but not necessarily overpowered. Only part that's over-the-top is the great reload, which is nuts since P90 has a 50 round mag. Either we nerf the reload or we nerf the TTK. Nerfing the TTK is only a route if we desperately want the P90 to fulfill the niche of high uptime.
I'm not good at battlebit, but I think the p90 is interesting. Outside of the magazine capacity - the accuracy, recoil, damage, rof all look fair. Getting killed by it doesn't feel like bullshit because its TTK stats and handling are not crazy. No matter how many people are playing, all fights are just a 1v1 because either I get them or they get me. It really doesn't matter if my opponent has killed 0 people or 99 people before we fight - I only experience my win or loss. Where the p90 could be op is that it's good for its first and second fight before reload; but realistically can take on a third or fourth opponent before reload. Most other guns with 20-30 round magazine are good for fighting 2 people in a row, but a third person becomes harder. All other guns with big mags have some kind of penalty like movement speed for support, or accuracy + handling nerfs for big drum mags... except the p90 therefore it's an outlier. It doesn't feel bad to lose to it, because I had a fair chance in the 1v1. At the same time it is clearly the best for taking on a large groups; that's how it can be both op but not feel frustrating to play against.
It's 100% OP, you literally said it's good at everything. No gun should be good at everything. Low recoil. High RPM. Quicker Movement, Large Magazines, Insane Reload. No other gun comes even close to what the P90 has without drawbacks.
I really like the p90 except it can be tough at longer ranges to control and hit enough shots even with yuge clips. Mp5 does not have the same range issues but has smaller clip size so kinda depends on situation a bit but i do agree p90 clip size and time to kill is big combo that allows 3-4 kills per clip if you're in position
The only issue with it is the reload time, its way too good (I dont want it to be nerfed, I like using guns that are not ass) Otherwise it feels like what the smgs should be: great up close and terrible (in this case due to horizontal recoil) at a distance
Even thought i'm like 20 levels away form the P90, i'd still prob go back to old reliable mp7 or mp5. Were the 2 main guns I've loved on medic alot so would prob just use P90 as a sub from time to time. Hope to see a settings video in the future, and best of luck on making content. o7
I think the P90 and the DMR of BBR are representative of the identity crisis the game still has regarding "what kind of game it wants to be" in the long run. Is it more akin to a COD/Battlefield or is it more akin to a Red orchestra / Hell let loose. Where some of the design of the game are clearly made toward a team based, tactical-ish careful approach, and the other is more fast passed, left-right leaning spamming, sprint jumping in circles, room rushing kind of play. I think the dominant strategies will lead the game leaning toward the latter if the devs do not make the decision themselves. As it seems to be the overall more efficient way to get positives K/D ratios, and as player are getting better and wiser to the game mechanics with time. So yeah ... depending on what the game will end up becoming, the P90 is either OP, or the standard every guns in the game should follow. Personally when I indulge in some P90 relaxation, the only gun I seems to be dying to consistently when clearing buildings in a run and gun style is the Groza.

It's the easiest gun together with the m4 and the mp5. If you want to talk OP you have to look at the FAL and the Scorpion EVO. If you learn to handle those guns it's insane. Scorpion EVO is 4 shots to the chest or 3 to the head at 1200 RPM, FAL is 2 shoots to the head or 3 to the chest at 650 RPM.

Not OP. I really wish that discussion would die. It entices the devs to pander to casuals that complain instead of taking time to improve. I don't see the issue. It fits nicely in the meta. TTK and velocity are low. It has shortcomings and requires smart flanks to dominate with it. Most other guns have a faster ttk if you each engage at the same time.
Great video as always Wong. Agree with your opinions on this. I don't think it's particularly OP as there are guns in the same category that kill just as quick or quicker at both short and medium range; I find it's frustrating to die to (and by extension why it's seen as OP) because of that uptime, especially in close quarters. Frustrating when your mag is dry and the enemy who turned the same corner as you still has another 30 rounds left.
