Yea there is no “Activate” action in the Star Wars version of Villainous, according to the handbook you must use the “Ambition” as the activate and pay that amount of ambition. So the ambition action is a two for one but you can’t play AND activate the card in the same turn
For those still confused, the pacing and detail seems to be a lot better for the Disney Villainous instructional video. Of course, there are others who have made more in depth videos too, and you may be better off looking to another channel.
What happens if you dont ever play Fate cards, since that is optional. We just played and if you don't play Fate cards, no one can win. Seems like it is a major flaw. Any advice?
Do you mean using fate action? You kinda need to fate to slow opponents down or for your own purposes for characters like Moff Gideon, if not it’s a very one sided game. Especially if you need heroes to be out in order to win, you kind of have to fate the other person so they can slow you down by fating in return
I want to experiment with this and do a play through without using any fate action against an opponent. It would prove interesting as it seems most of the villains have cards that will let them play certain hero cards to help them on their quest, like Beskar for Gideon finding Grogu.
You don’t need other players to fate you in order to complete your objectives. Each character has the ability to bring out the cards they need to win. Like with Ventress, you can use an ambition action to activate her mission ability to bring the heroes to your sector that you need to defeat. Or with grievous there are cards to bring heroes out of your fate deck to your sector.
I'm even more confused now. I need to find a video of someone with some friends actively playing this game because this video doesn't explain how to actually play. How do you take turns and interact? 🤷♀️
Yeah this game seems overwhelmingly complicated. This guide needs to be way slower, with examples throughout. You’re flying through the rules as if this were Monopoly or Sorry.
3:04 I love how there’s no example of an activation action since none of the current boards have them. Hopefully a future character will change that.

I’m trying to teach my kids how to play this game and I can hardly figure it out myself. So confusing.

Well for characters like Grevious you need heroes to kill to gain lightsabers
To use Asajj Ventress, you have to vanquish certain heros to complete missions. You definitely need to be utilizing fate.

Don't promise a vehicle card guide if you never made one

It definitely is complex, but it seems like once you register what actions need to be taken on your turns, it becomes easier.
@@kristinadube7032 "it is definitely complex, but when you understand it then it's not"
Very helpful
Seems almost identical as Disney version save ambition and vehicles.
6:02 did it🎉
Terrible video explaining how to play. Very confusing.
Wouldn’t it be 2-9 at this point?
What hero cards!?!? Darth Vader has no hero cards
Useless…lol
