I thought it was gonna be like an underground train. Why single cars? Seems inefficient!
I'm sure they have thought extensively about what can go wrong, but there are two things that come to mind about this system; first, what if a car breaks down in the middle of the tube? Would that not stop everything entirely? What procedures do they have to remove the obstruction in a one car wide tube?
The second issue I see is if a car were to catch fire. The tube is probably outfitted with some form of fire system, but if not, just the smoke alone would take the lives of riders before they can walk/run out of the tube.
Again, I'm sure they have the issues thought through and procedures in place, but it just makes me think a car roadway isn't the solution. I like what another commenter said about just putting that money towards extending the monorail, and honestly more monorails in general
@Crickett Worse yet, Boring didn't include ANY fire suppression in the facility which means Las Vegas is going to be on the hook to bring the facility up to code.
@@chrisose TBC worked hand-in-hand with the Clark County Fire Department to design safety features and procedures. They have powerful ventilation and the fire department will be able to reach the scene. No big deal.
I’m kidding about the no-big-deal part. Battery fires are not common. Having one in a Loop tunnel would cause a major disruption to service, and a PR nightmare. Hopefully not a tragedy on top of it. I hope they never have to use the fire response procedures in real life.
THOUGHT IT WAS GONNA BE A UNDERGROUND TRAIN! IT'S JUST A LONG TUNNEL FOR CARS!
Trying desperately to convince the world that a Hugo is a Ferrari.
true :-)
Laerdal tunnel 15 miles 113 million dollars built in 5 years.
Las Vegas loop 0.8 mile 50 million dollars built in 2 years.
Laerdal tunnel 3 miles per year to built.
Las Vegas loop needed two years to build less than a mile, for a slow, small, not autonomous car tunnel, not autonomous 16 people shuttles, not car or shuttle lifts.
Claims : "ten times faster to built, ten times cheaper to built, ten times faster"
Reality debunks claims and exaggerated hyped "marketing" expectations.
The vaporware seller strikes again, waiting for his new overhyped exaggerated not met by reality claims.
I live in Las Vegas and as cool as this looks it was a massive waste of money and time. They should of just worked with the monorail system already in place and extended it to the airport and more casinos
That would have been far more expensive and taken much more time…
I heard it’s about 100-150 million dollars per MILE for the monorail.
So it’s a simplified metro!
Simplified to the point of being useless.
LOL BORING COMPANY LOOP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trying to push this pathetic thing makes it even more pathetic
