One type of book related to the topic of dead physical media is strategy guides. I have several old Prima guides from when I was a kid and they offer something nice to flip through over scrolling on a website.
Oh i still have a small stack of those! As well as some gaming magazines, i love flipping through the magazines seeing the advertisements for games coming out at the time... And the strategy guide used to be THE way to complete video games, now everyone follows a walk through on RUclips, which is still cool, but it's just not the same and again, at any point RUclips can just delete the video's
Hugo! Great video. Totally agree with you. I love watching DVD's and I used to love buying them in stores. Now you just can't do that. At least not in most stores. I'm happy vinyls are "back in fashion". Great to have you on youtube again!
Sony just announced the cessation of Blu-ray disc production (dropping it completely until business 2 business sales become entirely unprofitable). Future Xbox and PS 6 console designs will be digital only (no physical playback capabilities). DRM and the digital vellum is causing a headache for the gaming industry with regards to authentication servers dropping their access for old physical games -- disabling their ability run on any form of hardware, whether original or not (retro vs new technology). Book shops are closing at an accelerated rate. Electricity costs to access digital forms of content is also increasing in price. Meaning you are forced to limit your exposure to 'any' media you want to consume. It's a grim time to be enthusiastic about digital media. Hang onto what you have or go shopping in second hand stores.
Hugoooo!!! So happy to see you making videos again ❤️ and about such an important topic, too! I can't wait to see what you do in future videos. Happy 100th video!!!😚😚😚
Hey Hugo! I completely agree with you. Digital media is very dangerous, lulling us into a false sense of comfort. If I really love a movie or TV show, I get them as physical media. Also, yes, with video games, it's a serious issue. As far as I know, there's no way to re-sell your digital copies. Peace.
Hey guys! sorry for the shaky camera, was recording on my bed, not my smartest idea... Gotta get back into it
