I’m here in 2023.. and WOW!! This might be my favorite show!
2024 - Just seeing this for the first time somehow. Man, every section was so good. It's like one epic moment after another. Impressive!
this show was and still is iconic
I'll watch Rhythm X 2010 and think "man why tf didn't they win?" And then I watch this show and just think "oh yeah..."
X's music was just too hard for their own good.
^Truth^ the opener was at 228bpm or some crazy quick tempo if my memory serves.

@@tylerlawson5923 wtf?!
@@tylerlawson5923 geez i cant walk that fast the best my drumline and i cam do is like 180BPM
Hanago
the snare book is on snarescience.com if you’re feeling like learning it. it is a pretty solid transcription.
I believe the term 'piss clean' comes to mind here.
Onb
So poetic that Pulses first Championships was with a show Called Worth the Wait
That freaking thirty second unison mallet run.
Audrey Elizabeth I agree. It's nice. As a snare drummer I always focused primarily on the battery but over the last 20 years the pit has gotten so good. It's amazing how tight they are. Like a machine.
I’m here in 2021. Love this show so much. Really wish freelancers made it out to finals. ):
one of the BEST SHOWS I HAVE EVER SEEN!!
Watch MCM Mantra, that's a show to remember
Coming back for my yearly revisit
I played this show back in high school of my freshmen year in 2014, that same year I had lost my mother and she never saw me play drum line. The show is amazing and amount my top 3 favorite, but will forever be number 1 in my heart, because of my mother.
Oh yeah! I just remembered how much I loved this show 7 years ago.
14*
Every now and then, I think about this show and get chills.
Me too
I remember predicting Pulse for the win this year In February... there was simply no other design that would have competed with this.
CANNOT stop watching this.
Still one of the best shows!
My annual comment: Not the hardest show I’ve been apart of but most certainly the most fun. #pq5
The ensemble things you guys did, the visual demand, environmental demand... holy smokes man. Blew my mind! I have almost 30 years in the game and few shows can touch this one in terms of musicality, phrasing, dynamics, and effect. I've learned a couple of licks too just for fun. Great "feel" on the hands. Congrats on being part of history!
and dude... the feature right after the Surdo feature (or whatever barrell drums you guys had) grooves WAY too hard. lol. I watched it 10000 times back then and just watched it again like 10 more times.
still the best show ever
It's up there with RCC 2015 for sure
3:10-3:37 gives me chills EVERY time
The bottom line is Pulse came in with something to prove. Rhythm X came in thinking the already proved it. And that was their downfall.
BrothaNBlue2 they did prove it fan favorite
Steve Castro fan favorite doesn't mean shit my dude
Steve Castro uhhhh Northglenn won the fan favorite award that year. This was before they gave it to one scholastic and one independent group. They just awarded one overall world class fan favorite.
***** they made a "cheesy" show fun and entertaining. Which is why this group won this year. amazing, clean and fun, unique and gold medal status. Good Stuff...
Completely true. It is not the theme that makes the show good, it is how the ensemble sells the theme that makes it good.
1:34 my guy bouta go Super Sayain
OMG I love this channel. Thank you for the footage.
I WAS THERE
Grand show
Compare 5:33 to the part during their 2019 show where they play on the drums mounted to the green table prop! Almost identical movements!
With the activity being nearly 30 years old, some things are bound to repeat themselves.
This was a really tough competition against Rhythm X on Inspired!! I honestly prefer this performance ^.^
1:52... bass feature for the books
James Swofford best bass lines to ever exist.
Best part, they used my school as a rehearsal. We actually shared our drum room with them. We got to literally hear their show form. Alot of them after they aged out ended up being our instructors and techs.
plot twist, he actually proposed.
I think that was an actual proposal because you just don't kiss like that in a performance.
That's true.. I mean.. Rhythm X 2009 the cymbal players didn't kiss till championship performance. Which is weird but i can see if it's for the show.
I feel like it definitely could've been an actual proposal... Anyone watch Matrix 2015?
4:01 WEST COAST!
Holy Hell
Cheesy theme, amazing performance, fun show.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This show was better than this years..
As this being my most favorite show of all time, I just noticed that there were no timps in this show. It's not like it matters but yeah, I tunneled on that lol
That roll at 3:10 was clean forever!
Girl on the right at 6:04 ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?????????
6:03 Holy crap is that tenor feature choppy. I have a tough time keeping up when I attempt it😅
21 second roll 3:10-3:31
Mario Notarangelo that roll reminds me Rhythm X 2009 closer.
No wonder Rhythm X had no chance...
Rhythm X won prelims. They were the favorite to win and then Pulse had a brilliant performance and X had a not so brilliant one. They had a VERY good chance at winning. It just wasn't their day.
Wait so what is the show actually about?
chastity I believe.
Just waiting. While chastity is a part of it, the whole beginning features music that delays the expected impact building several times only to drop off again and it ends with the idea of working for something that you have to wait for, their championships performance. All of it, worth the wait. Fantastic concept!
Nothing lmao with goofy ass synths and cringeworthy narration
1st movement: Waiting for things to start.
2nd movement: Waiting for things to end
3rd movement: The payoff of waiting.
I'm dead serious. Where did the idea of doing these indoor marching percussion shows, with voiceover and other recorded elements come from?
Music teachers, I know you were in the same kind of college music degree program i was. Orchestra, ensemble work, solo recitals, plenty of music theory and history ... I know you realize that even American marching bands are a peculiar and narrow offshoot in music history. I just wonder if y'all don't think this, as impressive as it is, is giving kids a narrow experience of what music is and can be?
Not being mean spirited here. I'm genuinely curious.
Okay y'all might call me crazy but I think there is a Mandela effect on this show. I remember when I saw this live the last sample saying "we wait till the end" or "we wait for the end" Anybody else remember that?
United should have totally took it this year.
No Blue Knights for sure.
Rhythm x definitely should've taken the title over pulse that year.
Pulse just had a cleaner run than X at finals.
***** Yeah one of my friends talked to X's bottom bass from 2010 and apparently several of the members were drunk off their asses, including bottom bass, on finals night when they performed. So that probably didn't help.
Willie Burke didn't really show surprisingly
though it's sad that they would throw away such an awesome show to celebrate prelims when they could've been celebrating finals, if only they had waited for it ;)
+Willie Burke I'm gonna have to call bullshit on this one. If they were drunk off their asses, they would've sucked a lot worse.. go watch their show and look for anyone who might seem drunk.
While the show was lamer than X's, they were cleaner....
How was it lamer?
funkrok2010 you’re kidding right
@@funkrok2010 cheesy theme. That musical riff and the "GO! GO!" part makes me cringe every time. So cheesy.
@@RickDawg527 oh man I loved that shit. Hyped it everytime I saw them. You "too cool for school" brats just don't know what having some fun looks like.
Such a basic show design. This show was the epitome of doing less with more.
clean ah hell, but Rhythm X this year deserved it bruh. The amount of chops it took to play that book, and the show is just iconic. The show concept for this is ngl, is goofy
