One thing I realized is how much I love the Bluecoats tenor tuning. They sound so great and a have very singsong type sound that fits the book so well especially notable during their break.
I figured out why this percussion book is so perfect. It's almost written like a jam session, if you listen to the book for the Blue Knights this year, it's so regimented and scary. this is like a well written jam! Groovy book, Love playing the second movement.
The whole second movement is amazing. The subsections have their individual features and isolated moments - sort of like jazz, and then it all comes together at the end to create an amazing sound and feeling
I literally keep coming back to this video for its sheer grooviness. The drum set, the book itself, the audibles and personality of the members, it’s all amazing. 2:31 is just superb in showing the fun of this group, especially when Kyle catches the stick exactly at the end of the snare split and looks at the audience. Fantastic.
Came back here for the same reasons🤙🏽 This favorite is the polar opposite of my other favorite: the 2021 BAC lot video posted by VF. Nothing but clean business.
I loved how these parts really grooved. I think that as musicians start making things more complicated we forget the need to have feel. One of my favorite lot videos in years. Just really fun to watch.
The Bluecoats and Vanguard has been my favorite lines to watch this year. All of the lines were great this year, but I just like the writing and styles of the two drumlines!!
I gotta agree. Their styles are so different though. Vanguard's books are super musical and amazing, and while the Bluecoats are amazing in their own right, I think they have a more "free" style. I don't really know how to explain it beyond that. I love and respect both lines though.
Scrub Nation Eh I mean id depends this year I really liked both but I think Bluecoats had better battery writing. Just my opinion though. Also I do agree that the front ensemble in SCV is always incredible.
My god. This is one of the tastiest things I've ever heard. Not to mention the fact, that the drum set sounds like god's vagina. I laugh when i watch these guys on youtube who've just spent $8,000 on a kit and it sounds like trash bc they never learned how to tune. It's a breath of fresh air to hear a properly and bad ass tuned drum set. My favorite drumline was cavaies in 2001 playing four corners, and these guys just made the list.
Peter Jackson at 1:37 it's like they are making chords with the tenors and it's possibly the coolest thing I have ever seen dealing with rimshots and good tenor tuning
The only thing I can say is I met every single one of these amazing people, when they showed up to my school to practice before comp. And it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen
This show has my favorite closer book of all time. I genuinely can't find anything I enjoy more than when the snares join in for the drum break. (5:55 is the timestamp)
Idk why, but to me the coolest thing Tom Rarick does in his writing is when he changes the openness of the rolls midphrase. The 3s and 9s in the opener... Absolutely awesome
Prelims lot was rained out for a bit last year. Absolutely sucks. What a bummer that they work this hard all season and they don't get the park for finals. At least they got first!
I’m glad you think I’m serious that John Petrucci actually moonlights as a set drummer/time keeper for the blue devils, because dream theater is just too boring for him...
Hey +DrumCorpsTube will you ever be able to upload the warmup routine video thats showed at the end of this video? Im addicted to the bluecoats drum line (especially this years book - perhaps one of the best books in a long time in my opinion) and would love to hear their warm up with the acoustics in that room. Thanks for reading.
can we all take a moment to appreciate how clean those quad duets were?
mmm
Especially when they play on both the Spock’s and do those really loud shots
One thing I realized is how much I love the Bluecoats tenor tuning. They sound so great and a have very singsong type sound that fits the book so well especially notable during their break.
Dragonspartax you can hear clear CHORDS it's insanity
sounds like birds singing

Bloo Eagle nah murray gusseck’s books were doing jam sessions way before roger
@@stevechrollo8074 Roger doesn't write the book
@@stevechrollo8074 why does Murray’s writing have to discredit this?
Like 1:59 is so dam groovy

last time I watched this it was about 4 years ago. For the last 2 days I had been searching for it. So here is your reminder to give it another listen

My favorite section of this whole book is 2:52. So simple, yet so effective.
My favorite section is the whole book Lol.
Thanks for doing what you could with not ideal audio conditions :)
Throw some transient processing on this video, it will clear it right up.
no
Zach Petty yes zoochery pooter imma make u do it
Gotta love it when a drum book isn't 10 million uselessly fast notes... And you DEFINITELY gotta love it when the book grooves like crazy.

I loved the cadets this year too which is surprising since I wasn't really a fan of them before but their book this year was amazing.
+Dragonspartax not so much my dude
***** I got to disagree with you there. Vanguard's battery is in a whole other level in my opinion.
Scrub Nation Eh I mean id depends this year I really liked both but I think Bluecoats had better battery writing. Just my opinion though. Also I do agree that the front ensemble in SCV is always incredible.
3:05 the snare all the way on the right yells "KYLE"
Pranav Singh that guy looks like he's 40
2017 Center snare, or the snare one to the left of 2016 center snare in this video at 0:40 is named Kyle.
Will Pantaleo Our left or his left?
Our left.
Pranav Singh why though
[Snare Entrances]
Opener: 0:35
Movement 2: 1:20
Movement 3: 4:25
Closer: 5:53
Feature Practice: 8:20
2:50 nice catch bass 1
2:11 you know it’s clean when the techs are cheering
2:33 Kyle's drumstick comes from god knows where
Colin Hench someone throws him one in the snare line during that feature, if you watch a different lot, you can see him throw it
Although it is thrown from one of the bassists I like to imagine it came from God
This will never get old..
Everything about this video is just so satisfying to watch

Peter Jackson I mostly love the tenor tuning because in Mvt. 2, just before they slow down, they almost make chords, and it sound so god damn good
Peter Jackson at 1:37 it's like they are making chords with the tenors and it's possibly the coolest thing I have ever seen dealing with rimshots and good tenor tuning
"God's vagina"....
Hell yeah!
it is all good if you are a music player
DCI 2016: The year of the open ruffs

That is a fact. You'll look at this video in 2036 and ask "could we have ever been this young? And slim?"
I love that kids can work together and create these magical moments! Awesome!!!
4:38 I love how theatrical and "into it" Ben is
One of my top drum books of all time.
It doesn't matter which corps it is I LOVE THIS STUFF
i will singlehandedly get this to 1M views
Congrats
Lmao you did it

Loving seeing the improvement they've made since the Nashville show. Can't wait until next season!
I see you boy
So many hilarious visuals and voice overs
It's good to see the past bluecoats in the building
the snare line sounds so powerful
One of the most epic Cadences ive ever heard. Nice way to play with a Drumkit bypassed!
Not a cadence
OH MY GOD. I was in one of those rooms at the JW Marriott for the Honor Band of America. Sudden and hard hitting nostalgia.
god they're always so good
oh lord that drum sets snare sounds so incredible
I thought I was at an NSych concert for a min! That snare with the big gages in his ear is crazy.
Congratulations Roger!
3:04 LMFAO Dat scream bro Hahahahahaha.
6:30 damn basses
Prelims lot was rained out for a bit last year. Absolutely sucks. What a bummer that they work this hard all season and they don't get the park for finals. At least they got first!
So these warm-ups "coming soon" where they at though?
Steven Stolz this is show music
Incredible as usual!
i could watch this on replay for the rest of my life. downside up was a show performed by gods.
amazing i like your performance
This book was unbelievable
9:02 is that guy on the far left like 40?
Geatle. 21 is the oldest age to be in a drum corps
lol i'm joking. actually the oldest you can be in a drum corps is 22 if you turn 22 after june 1st of your age out season.
yep
He went to my school. He graduated in 2014
he is like 19 or something people who are 40 can't march DCI
I thought it would be nice to watch this video - for like the 100th time..
The grooviest beats in all the land.
Michael Lazaro cool name
7:14 snare on the right forgets to move
Jadon Ingalls lol they are trash but guess who won at finals
+Carson pate Jadon was being sarcastic.....
Carson pate lol and where’d you march ?
Wow! It's like they're human and aren't perfect 😂
Good reminder that these people aren’t just robots lol
4:30 left of center snare, wtf happened?
If you've ever played snare you understand, sometimes you just miss, it's terrible but it happens. Even at this level.
I think he accidentally hit his stick
right stick hit his left bead right off the drum
Aww kyle nooooo
So so so so so good
WOAH IK ONE OF EM THEY WERE ONE OF MY INSTRUCTORS FOR DRUMLINE HE WAS NEXT TO THE GUY WITH THE BIG LOBES (RIGHT SIDE OF HIM )
I miss being in the drumline...
That moment when the lead snare drummer is the percussion instructor for your high school
What school?
Letitia Singleton south oldham high school
We used to have mike Davis before he went to Chicago
A couple decades ago, my school had the person who is now the lead visual designer for Carolina Crown as our lead visual/drill guy
Did anyone else hear a bit of SCV 2018 at 6:42
Similar Rythym, but no
Ik whatnyour talking about
I can kinda hear it.
@@huntergrimes9094 profile pic checks out
Personally, I don't think they could top what they were last year. Their drum line was AMAZING last year
2010 and 2014 are the best Bluecoats lines IMO.
eh, I prefer 2015 and 17. The 2015 drum break was fantastic
2015-2016 for me. The writing style this year wasn't my favorite. 2014 was cool too, but not QUITE there
I love al marching music but I played the trumpet in school and was good with it I know nothing what the drum line does but a good beat.
how close bass 3 is to bass 2's harness at 2:48 is how close i am to killing myself because cavies didnt win in '03 or '10.
I love you. And I miss you. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
THE BADDEST DRUMLINE ON THE PLANNET!
2:48 second snare from the left was so close to dropping his stick
The Bluecoats have, and have always had the strongest battery percussion. Change my mind.
SCV wins percussion in 2016, 2017, 2018, and probably 2019
2:35 Thought this was a 7 stroke for the longest time, but I just now realized it was a split.
i watch this video a lot
yeah. they deserved that win.
where was this because I could not find it
It was inside the convention center. I went over the bridge from the JW Marriott to get in.
DrumCorpsTube Funny thing: at Grand Nationals, my high school put our stuff into one of those rooms. Good memories.
I wish I had known about this at indy champs, I would've died to see this. Anyways, great video!
1:50 - 4:16 The definition of laying it down
Omg is this in Lucas oil cus I remember practicing here before regionals the carpet was so wierd
yea they had to do lots inside because it was raining finals night
Anybody else dig the acoustics?
I also listen with IEM's, so there's probably a difference.
What IEM's do you use? Also you notice that their front ensemble wears IEM's as well?
I use the Shure SE215 limited edition blue.
to this date my favorite acoustics for drumline recordin
Love it
Now i know why guy who records every single drum sample on this planet
And he does do the endless loops too i guess
where is warm up routine tho
i swear that set drummer is john petrucci!
no its roger carter who has been with the bluecoats since 2011 i believe and he is sponsored by Vic Firth
Michael Doudan he's talking about prison break lol
John petrucci plays guitar
I’m glad you think I’m serious that John Petrucci actually moonlights as a set drummer/time keeper for the blue devils, because dream theater is just too boring for him...
So any one know why they have yet to win top drums yet? From all the videos their line seems pretty tight.
My how the activity has changed. Except pre-show audience hype....that hasn't changed.
opening snare break piss clean every time. Damn.
any sheet music for that beginning drum solo? (on the drum set)
Thanks for reading.
will the warmup routine ever be posted? great work with this video!
Doesn't get any better than this. #ComeGetSome
When should we expect that warm up routine video?
Is bass 5 the same guy on bass 5 last year?
Incandescent Blaze yes
Thanks
yes he is the same guy, along with bass 3 and 2 bass 2 aged out and bass 3 and 5 are aging out in the 2017 season
4:30 Kyle (left of center snare) knocks his own stick off the drum for the big buzz roll
Does anyone know why center snare and center tenor are wear wireless mic packs
They were amplified during certain sections of the show because the horn line was so loud
The end of the opener, the ballad impact, and the end of the show. There maybe other sections that I don't remember
+Tyrell “Splash-master” Wiggems for sure dude. thanks for the input haha
Chris Morales I think during the visual rim click section for snares, and possibly the second movement's tenor feature at the beginning
WGI-ification Complete.
My dream
Can sb give me a tip for Quint tenors? Is there a very good brand for them?
WHAT 6:40
Exactly what I thought too
Comments unclear, am in barieuph section

One of the instructors is a guy named Aaron Farris.
Ok
Why'd you remove the Hornline video?!
Well someone hated the Bluecoats this year...who the hell would think this is a good room to warm up in
Where my basses at?
6:43-6:49= yes sir!!
When will the Finals Warmup video be uploaded?
