You guys should listen to the entire Operation Mindcrime album start to finish. It is a concept album and tells one continuous story. Not a bad song on the entire album. 🤘
This is the very last song on the album "Operation Mindcrime" (which is a concept album with a continuous story), so maybe not the best song to react to (at least from a lyrical perspective). That said, the song (and indeed the entire album), is utterly fantastic :)
What they used to call a rock opera there’s a lot of bands that I’ve done him and if you can really grasp the story it’s really cool I remember seeing them live when they did the whole operation Mindcrime where they did the live crime album such an amazing show
@@jeffparker6844 Have you ever listened to the live crime album where they recorded the whole thing live that one’s really good especially if you can find where it came with the video and the cd , it was vhs don’t think it ever made it to dvd
@@jamescoleman8954 I saw Original lineup on this tour at the Summit in Houston. A few years back my son and I went and saw Geoff perform it at House of Blues. He sounded amazing. Just a great rock band.
I know everyone loves "Take Hold of The Flame", "Operation Mindcrime" and "Empire" but "Rage For Order" is my favorite Queensryche album, it is 35 years old and it still sounds futuristic....
Imo their best album (earlier era don’t know their newer stuff) followed by OM. Both albums you can listen from start to finish and not a bad song. RFO just has that real prog metal sound.
Rage for order is an awesome album and it has one of the coolest ballad ever "i will remember" all early albums including empire are masterpieces, even promised land whas a cool album, for what it was , but somheow it was the point where the magic dissapeared
Operation Mindcrime, where this song came from is a concept album that tells a story from beginning to end. It and the album that follows it, Empire, were arguably Queensryche's best work.
They were never the same after Chris DeGarmo left...that was really the beginning of the end of their peak. They did some good songs after that, but it just wasn't the same.
You have to listen to the entire album to understand. Operation mindcrime is a concept album..and one of the best ever. Brad will have a blast deciphering the story
Thanks for more Queensryche! For more of their heavy magic, try Sanctuary, The Lady Wore Black and On the Road to Madness. Great stuff from one of the most underrated bands, ever. Enjoy! 🎸
As everyone has been saying, just pick any song off the Operation Mind Crime album. You will not be disappointed! Even the Empire album the same can be said!!
I was fortunate to watch Queensryche perform Operation Mindcrime I & II at the House of Blues in New Orleans. It was awesome. Pamela Moore played Sister Mary.
Yes that was a great tour! Saw them play Mindcrime 1 & 2 at the a House of Blues in Orlando. Wish Chris DeGarmo was still with the band then but saw them 4 times when Chris was as still with the band. Mindcrime is a masterpiece🤘
As others have commented you have to listen to the entire Operation Mindcrime album in order to truly appreciate the story being told from beginning to end. For my money it's the best concept album ever.
Love it!!! As practically everyone has already said in the comments, ya gotta check out the entire album from the top - "Revolution calling...Revolution calling...Revolution calling you!!!" 😎🤘🤘💯
My dad always told me growing up that you have to be true the man in the mirror...what Nicky (the "singer") is saying is; that due to his choices through the whole album , he no longer recognizes the himself in the mirror. He sees nothing behind the eyes of the stranger looking back from the mirror.
Lexi got it absolutely correct. This group does fall into the groups you mentioned. The album the song is off is “Operation: Mind Crime”This is the last song of the album and it’s a Theme album from start to finish. It’s an amazing story if you ever get into listening to this album from start to finish
The intro and outro are part of the song, but (as others have said) this song is part of a concept album named Operation Mindcrime. It is basically about a guy who ends up in an organized drug and/or crime syndicate. This song is from the perspective of the main character I would say. So the outro and intro are basically related to (and samples of) other songs on the album.
This is the final song on the Album. It brings the album's continuous story full circle. I believe "Operation Mindcrime" was named album of the year when it was released. Top 5 albums of all time. Brilliantly put together.
Queensrych is Progressive Metal which is one of my favorite genres. I love it because its usually very complicated and changeable rhythmically, with unique sounds and harmonies and talented musicians and voices. Dream Theater is my favorite band.
I have literally seen over 200 bands live, and Queenryche on Empire tour where they did Operation Mindcrime from beginning to end, would be the first show I would go see again if they invent time machines!
Chris DeGarmo and Michael Wilton are two of the most talented guitarist that don't get enough credit they are solid players who when needed can pull off some of the most amazing solos but then come together and back each other so that we get the incredible two guitar attack bass player Eddie Jackson love how he locks it down. Drummer has drum kit that most people would love too have Chrome Chains are what supports his cymbals everything has chrome chains. Then they have this singer that can hold a note in the great high range categorie. They left there stamp on the world.
The version you found is missing a whole load of musical passage at the beginning, the song doesn't start that abruptly. That being said it's a fantastic song.
Queensryche was not hugely popular and got only minor radio play in the 80s....but since then people have started to realize how good they really were. Most underrated band of all time IMO
The entire album tells a story. Each song represents a chapter in that story. Awesome album. Listen from the beginning of the album/book and listen/read your whole way through.
Outro is a mash-up of the other songs on the album. This concept album tells a bigger story, track by track. Definitely metal, definitely holds up over time...especially when you've heard the album in its entirety! Thanks for the video!
Saw them in concert 1991. Suicidal Tendencies opened. They played the entire Mindcrime album plus songs from Empire and older songs. One of the best concerts I ever attended
What genre, you ask? Queensryche is one of the defining bands of the "Progressive Metal" genre. This song would qualify. But don't get hung up on the label. Just enjoy the awesomeness of the music. You may call it Prog Metal; you may call it Hard Rock; but you mostly should call it great stuff!
I am, and this is nothing too crazy. Mind you, i don't know their work at all, but as far as this individual song's drumming goes..definitely nothing special. Solid tho.
@@mitchelltyler5972 He definitely has a great sound and compliments the music well. I'd say he's underrated in terms of what he brings to the songs relative to most hard rock drummers. He elevates the songs imo without trying to take them over. I'm also not a huge fan of showy drummers like Peart with his overuse of fills. I prefer someone like Stewart Copeland.
🤘🤘 I wish I could take y’all back to experience the power of all this music and progression of it all. I can’t but at least y’all are at it one song at a time. Jump around a lot through decades but to live all these decades in real time was heavy.

And then "Operation Mindcrime II" that picks up the story 18 years later, after Nikki is released from prison and plots his revenge against Dr. X.
