I used my drill press and angle grinder. Threaded a bolt though with lock nut to chuck it. Stainless. I like this method better. Yes, I know lateral stressors. Drill press to line up the tap too. Then same as you, tap handle. Thanks man, good stuuf.
If you do tapping use cut oil and a bigger tap wrench so you dont hold the wrench but let the lathe ways hold it as you turn the chuck and buy a piece of hss blank and make some inserts for the lathe so you can do a lot on the lathe and not go from one tool to the next(you can find shapes and forms on the net to shape the hss blanks). And if you finish your turning break the edges and than do the parting. Keep up the good work Dutch greatings
Stuart, First, fine piece of work on the pommel nut. I do have a question. How do you get the matching radius on the pommel to that of the knife handle? Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Stuart. Another fine video. Thank you also for your continued willingness to share your knowledge with those of us who, like me, are afflicted with the knife bug. What a great hobby. You are a true craftsman.
Turny thing at he back....tailstock. Big turny thing at the front....Chuck. Thanks for inspiring and keeping it real

Skip Rogers Hi Skip, I'll make a video of that for you. If you have subscribed you'll be notified when it goes up.
Skip Rogers I just posted a video of the radius grinds.

great video... I need to start using my metal lathe.
Thanks Stu! Maybe a few drops of cutting fluid will help on the lathe.
Andre Erasmus absolutely, it completely slipped my mind
Uitstekend - lekker man lekker
LOL I love bladesmiths. "This is not acceptable practice." Pretty much sums up half the things we do to get the job done right?
My handle does the same thing. I need a new one.
