i have messed around with budokai 3's files myself, and i found some data hinting at the what-if characters from budokai 2 returning, and they also have actual slot data in the files of the game, however, they're empty and do not point to the slot, transformation, or shading type (ssj or normal) data. i have also found text data in the files hinting that budokai 3 was supposed to have a dragon universe mode for all characters. here's some examples: super buu defeating goku ssj4 or gogeta nappa joining the ginyu force and his talent for wild poses being discovered future trunks fighting broly and saying that he should go back in time to warn his friends the last bit can be seen in broly's DU mode, where gohan will say "so this is the legendary super saiyan future trunks warned us about" when you're about to face him.

To add on to the empty slots for the what-if characters, the names of Burter, Jeice and Guldo, in addition to all of the characters mentioned in this video, can also be found grouped in with the rest of the character names, implying that they were at the very least planned to be playable.

You need DKZ Studio to check it out... it's just a single empty audio file anyway (named jp_hatchyatch, if I remember correctly), probably it was scrapped early in the development.

I absolutely love those cut interactions. The Funimation dub of DBZ, even when it had the pure non-TV freedom from the uncut versions of the DVD series, didn't really have much of that more profane language that I know the English series' demographic would've loved. Most of the bad guys, and in particular Vegeta, should've been way more explicit given how much talking there is in the series. There were a few instances of him saying "damn" and I remember him telling Cui "See you in hell," but not much else.
Yeah, the Ocean dub was much more explicit and more true to the characters in that way, but their inaccuracies to the source material were off the charts. I do wish there was a little bit more cursing.

Also that game has a bunch of misteries: - like the name of Pual (Yamcha's cat) in the voice actors, even if he wasn't in the game. - When you beat the same character you chosed (like Goku VS Goku), the one who lose change himselfe into Oolong... so I tried to lose and win many times with different copies of characters, but Pual (or Plume, in the french version), who can also morph into other characters, like Oolong, never appeared. - Also in all the ending credits I never find the name *Akira Toriyama*, but one of the designers was named *Naoko Takeuchi*. Yeah, and not to mention, in Part 1 of the DYKG for DBZ, you find out that in the HD re releases for all the games, the blood and gorey scenes were censored (instead of seeing a bloody hole in one's chest, you'd see a black hole and some moves don't show thier finishers directly hitting the opponent, but instead cutting to white before the hit is executed). Quite odd that a show like DBZ would STILL be so heavily censored to this day, but then again, in the US it WAS considered a "kids show".

For those of you who hate characters like Goku's and Luffy's japanese voices...Remember this: their personalities are those of a child. They sound like kids to reiterate their naive nature. And I love Mayumi Tanaka as Luffy, because she can make luffy sound legitimately bad ass and she is a good actor. I've grown accustomed to Masako Nozawa and respect her work as well. The Noncanon series such as the Movies [not Battle of Gods & Resurrection F] & DBGT. 3. The DBZ Game series that only includes their own Villains n' such like Ozotto, Kuriza, and Hatchiyack. Hatchiyack was born from the video games then had an OVA but even though they are also NonCanon they only exist in the Gaming World.
Back in the early 90s the cool thing to do in my elementary school was to put as many dragonball z gifs on a geocities website as possible. Didn't take long to figure out that all those gifs were from the Super butoden/Hyper dimension games and then began my childhood obsession with emulators.

Its not "Supreme Kai". Its "Kaioshin". Which means "God/King of Kaios", which is adequate since King Kai is a so called Kaio (there are 4, for the Nord,West,East,South of the Universe), then their Boss is the Dai Kaio (Great Kaio), and HIS BOSS is the Kaioshin. (and technically HIS BOSS is the Kaioshin from 15 generations ago, since he is older)

That's mostly true. However, in the English dub, it is merely Supreme Kai. The names are different, but the concept is the same. Kai then Grand Kai then "Supreme Kai" (as there is only one right now) then Grand Supreme Kai (who is dead) The Kaioshin from 15 generations ago (Old/Elder Kai) holds no real rank and it is a bit off to say that he is the "boss" of Supreme Kai. He didn't suddenly become the Supreme Kai's boss when he popped out of the Z Sword.
That's not the actual reason he keeps the voice. In these games to do the voice, they've synched it up for every character to play "Sound 1" for example when you switch. Every sound file they have will be in the same place for every character to make it easier to program. E.G Switch Get hit Power Up Super 1 Super 2 Are always in the same place when you go down their list Cell actually has a different scream in all 4 forms in English, but they're not put in the right spot. They are somewhere completely different. So they changed the wrong files when replacing the Japanese. They've also completely missed a few like Trunks' Finish Buster in BT1 The only times when transformations keep the same voice is in Budokai because they're the same character and UT for the Hero.
VR VS sounds like it'd be a blast, and with VR coming back into the limelight, it'd be awesome to have it come back in some form with an extended cast, especially if they all got unique wishes, even if they didn't all make sense. SaIbaman wishing to be the best he could be and becoming a highly respected Capsule Corp scientist, Yamcha wishing to train with the best teacher and failing nearly all of Whis' training, Cell Jr wanting to live a normal family life with his father and siblings, and maybe have King Kai in the game as a playable character for the 2nd time since the DS and have his wish be to have Goku leave him alone for a good long while. It'd be so fun. Ok, I think I only want it for the character endings now.

Even in the English dub Goku doesn't have a manly voice. His voice is lighter than most males in DBZ because they wanted to stay true to his voice in the Japanese version unlike the Ocean Dub giving Goku a more manly cool guy voice that just doesn't fit the character.
Galaxy Soldier is referring to the character Kogu, which is the member of Bojack’s crew, the “Galaxy Soldiers”. The mention of his name for the longest time was in the credits of the “Bojack unbound” movie.
The Japanese dub is free from the "adaptations" FUNImation takes with their dubs. And the Japanese actor grows on you. I saw her as good as a fit for Goku as Sean Schemmel after the first season.
Pej In the context of my post, I meant mistranslations. FUNImation likes to take a translated line, and rewrite it any way they want. Of course, they can also translate other lines near perfectly. It's really a guessing game with the translation quality.
I always found it interesting in Budokai 2 how there was a point in the story where you could fight a version of Super Buu that has absorbed either Frieza or Cell.
It's because he's still a child at heart and is pure, you know? He's a country bumpkin. IMO his Japanese voice is WAY more fitting for his character overall then his dub voice. His dub voice just makes him sound like a total idiot.

- Also in all the ending credits I never find the name *Akira Toriyama*, but one of the designers was named *Naoko Takeuchi*.
I suppose it was just a coincidence: that's the name of the mangaka who created *Sailor Moon*.

Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was the first DBZ game I played, and I absolutely loved that game. I spent hours upon hours on that game.

Yeah, and not to mention, in Part 1 of the DYKG for DBZ, you find out that in the HD re releases for all the games, the blood and gorey scenes were censored (instead of seeing a bloody hole in one's chest, you'd see a black hole and some moves don't show thier finishers directly hitting the opponent, but instead cutting to white before the hit is executed).
Quite odd that a show like DBZ would STILL be so heavily censored to this day, but then again, in the US it WAS considered a "kids show".

Most of the DBZ games in the past few years have been pretty meh. DIMPS is making Xenoverse so I have some hope for the game.
Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was pretty fun. I was happy that they included so many of the original dragonball characters, and you could play as Bardock's "girl" (dunno the relationship between them off the top of my head.)

Wouldn't "Galaxy Soldier" refer to Zangya or Bojack, or any of Bojack's other henchmen? I mean, in the movie, Bojack and his henchmen were initially thought to be "aliens" from other planets brought to fight tournament participants, and directly referred to as "Galaxy Soldiers".

For those of you who hate characters like Goku's and Luffy's japanese voices...Remember this: their personalities are those of a child. They sound like kids to reiterate their naive nature. And I love Mayumi Tanaka as Luffy, because she can make luffy sound legitimately bad ass and she is a good actor. I've grown accustomed to Masako Nozawa and respect her work as well. If you don't agree with that, then that's fine....I guess most of us just don't understand that way of thinking since we're not from the same culture as the creators.

3. The DBZ Game series that only includes their own Villains n' such like Ozotto, Kuriza, and Hatchiyack. Hatchiyack was born from the video games then had an OVA but even though they are also NonCanon they only exist in the Gaming World.

Its not "Supreme Kai". Its "Kaioshin".
Which means "God/King of Kaios", which is adequate since King Kai is a so called Kaio (there are 4, for the Nord,West,East,South of the Universe), then their Boss is the Dai Kaio (Great Kaio), and HIS BOSS is the Kaioshin. (and technically HIS BOSS is the Kaioshin from 15 generations ago, since he is older)

That's not the actual reason he keeps the voice.
In these games to do the voice, they've synched it up for every character to play "Sound 1" for example when you switch. Every sound file they have will be in the same place for every character to make it easier to program.

Are always in the same place when you go down their list
Cell actually has a different scream in all 4 forms in English, but they're not put in the right spot. They are somewhere completely different. So they changed the wrong files when replacing the Japanese. They've also completely missed a few like Trunks' Finish Buster in BT1
The only times when transformations keep the same voice is in Budokai because they're the same character and UT for the Hero.

VR VS sounds like it'd be a blast, and with VR coming back into the limelight, it'd be awesome to have it come back in some form with an extended cast, especially if they all got unique wishes, even if they didn't all make sense.
SaIbaman wishing to be the best he could be and becoming a highly respected Capsule Corp scientist, Yamcha wishing to train with the best teacher and failing nearly all of Whis' training, Cell Jr wanting to live a normal family life with his father and siblings, and maybe have King Kai in the game as a playable character for the 2nd time since the DS and have his wish be to have Goku leave him alone for a good long while. It'd be so fun.

Most people of my surrounding just hate english dubbing and i totally understand that-english voices are just flat and doesn't match at all.
Even in the English dub Goku doesn't have a manly voice. His voice is lighter than most males in DBZ because they wanted to stay true to his voice in the Japanese version unlike the Ocean Dub giving Goku a more manly cool guy voice that just doesn't fit the character.
