Yea, in music there's technically no such thing as "plagiarized" since musicians can pick out the chords and riffs and melodies with their ears. It's a shame that they did that to him because the soundtracks sounded appropriate for the games.

The alternate costumes for Goku and Naruto are also nods to both artist/authors drawing their respective characters in each other's universe as gifts to each other.
Toriyama's was to congratulate Kishimoto on ten years of Naruto and Kishimoto's was his tribute to Dragon Ball as it was a huge inspiration to his and his brother Seishi's characters and art styles.
The interesting thing about putting Bumma's skin over Videl in the Japanese version? During her finisher, where Videl is knocked away and normally Gohan would catch her an then proceeds to kick the opponent's ass, Gohan's entire animation will actually have Vegeta's model.
At least if I'm to believe the video a friend showed me years ago.

Agreed. Anyone who knows anything about musical theory knows how little there really is to music. There's only so many notes and so many octaves that humans can hear. With the number of songs written everyday there are bound to be songs that use the exact same note progressions, and lawsuits of this kind should be banned. Hell if you need confirmation, try listening to the 'Four Chord Song' by Axis of Awesome.. I think that proves my point rather well.

Rinku Starr It's important to note that the tracks that caught everyone's attention weren't from the games, but were from Dragonball Kai, where he gets a lot more bold in his "homages" and rips entire tracks from Hollywood movies, like "War" from the Avatar soundtrack and "Opening" from the Terminator Salvation soundtrack. In those cases it's plain plagiarism, and as a result pretty much all his tracks from everything Dragonball have been replaced for precaution, which is a shame because he had some really good original compositions, but screwed it all up by plagiarizing.

Nappa wasn't even born bald. If you watch "Bardock's Story" which happens around the time Goku is born, you could see that Nappa has a mohawk. I wonder if he shaved his head on purpose.

when they say it doesnt change it means that their hair has a limit to how much it can grow, for example gokus hair will never grow anymore then it currently is and if he cuts it will simply grow like a humans but will never go over his his common hair.

To say he stole music from others is utterbullshit, there are soooo many songs that have similar melodies, the whole thing pisses me off, he did an awesome job with the music.
This is one thing that was confusing me as well. If we went through every song ever made I am sure we can find a few of the most popular songs sounding something like another song.

The issue people had is that there were several tracks that he composed that sounded very similar. If it were a couple, no one would care most likely. He did this for several years too.

EVERYTHING we do, be it building a house to drawing a person, is copying at some level, if we didn't take inspiration from this we'd be building houses without doors, or walls, we'd be randomly drawing lines on paper with no idea of what we're doing. I've listened to almost all his video game work, and he took inspiration and in my opinion made them better. I've not really listened to the kai soundtrack much, I think it's pretty crap. But even still, I doubt he literally copied anything. He did nothing wrong.
I know, it sucks. I truly love his work. And he didn't do it on every song. But think of it this way: you're an artist who makes a song, and some composer "remixes" your melody and not give you any bit of credit, making it seem like they created it themselves, and go on to make more money than you ever did? Put yourself in a creator's shoes. If you copy a melody you must credit that original artist and ask permission. He did neither. And that's why you always hear about many artists being sued for copyright issues. You can't make remixes for COMMERCIAL release and technically shouldn't even get paid for it unless you get the aforementioned permission.

I find it incredible how Dragonball and Dragonball Z were 80's shows, they feel like 90's shows, and they make me think of the early 2000s watching as a kid. It stands the test of time quite well.

As for why certain aspects of the re-releases became censored, it's actually quite simple. The severity of game ratings changes over time. In order for a re-released game to keep the same rating of its older version, changes unfortunately have to be made. Otherwise they risk having the maturity rating bumped up.
That's actually a pretty depressing trend... as a society, we become more and more puritanical over time about the kind of fictional content we'll allow people of whatever age to see, when you could just turn on the news and see things far worse with only a "warning, this report may contain images disturbing to some viewers" caveat.
Still, I guess it's better than the double-standard of extreme violence being A-Okay for all whereas the slightest hint of a nipple is grounds for scorched earth censorship response.

What's more, if there is legitimate reason to reconsider whether something is age-appropriate for a given demographic, then butchering the original work to meet the letter rather than spirit of the rules is just a lazy attempt to hold onto the same breadth of demographics you can sell to without being introspective enough to realize that maybe your market for it should indeed change and you should accept the changed rating.
It's obvious what's going on in those censored scenes, just because it isn't explicitly shown or is replaced by an awful looking quantum singularity black spot doesn't mean that people (young impressionable kids included) won't get the message.
Thank God Smash Bros. creators have integrity, and took the bump from Everyone to Teen (which is still quite laughable).
Can you imagine if every time you hit someone in the face, the game flashed a white screen, to protect us from the real world violence of a plumber punching a shelled dragon in the head with a comically blown up white glove?

If you ask me, gaming is somewhat about become the next Hollywood, when it comes to age ratings and censorship. The version of Beyond: Two Souls released in Europe is an example of that this is happening, where they censored part of a cutscene to make the game get rated 16 by PEGI, instead of risking the game getting rated 18.
Why the hell did they censor a DBZ game for violence? "He just blew a fucking hole in him!" "Better make sure there's no blood!"

Next DBZ re-release, they're going to have a white flash every time someone gets attacked. The energy beams will just be flowing wind, and the hit sound effects will be replaced with squeaks. Oh and it'll be rated M for Mature.
I mean Seriously! HD my tail! If it's higher definition, then WHY replace a detailed gory crater with a solid black disk (if it HAD to be censored, just zoom in on Raditz's face or edit the cutscene to be a side view)? That's why I don't buy into the whole HD nonsense.

When the HD edition of Budokai 3 came to PS3 and Xbox 360, Uub (even when he's in English mode) can sometimes be heard in his Japanese voice. If he's hit by a blast or a strong attack in close range he won't do his normal voice and instead make his Japanese voice. I think it's just a glitch.
I had this problem when playing through Teen Gohan's story. When he first went SSJ2, the scream was in Japanese for some reason, not English.
So let me get this straight, you can borrow visual art assets from other games and it's considered a homage or easter egg, but borrow a 2 second guitar riff from another piece of music and you'll get your ass sued?

Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is majorly over-rated.
Sure the game has a great character roster but most of them are very generic in terms of Super Attacks and Ultimates.
Plus you do not have the ability to customize Super Attacks which really hurts the character individuality as it means what the game gives you is what you have to put up with.
And when you consider how overly featured Full Power Energy Waves, Super Explosive Waves, High Speed/Power Rushes, and Energy Volleys are, it really makes most of the cast feel like simple variations of each other rather than actual individual characters.
Don't get me wrong, BT3 is a great game and I also very much enjoyed it but it is majorly over-rated.
Then which one you consider the best DBZ game?
Budokai 3 is better IMO.
My personal favourite is Raging Blast 2.
Mainly because it has a lot more ties to the anime than Budokai Tenkaichi 3 does.
You can Sky battle, Deflect Supers, Crash into walls, use Supers more faithful to the anime, and so on.
I will admit Raging Blast 2 does have flaws but to me Budokai Tenkaichi 3 has more.
I don't think heard anything in those tracks that deserved plagiarism accusations. Maybe the Journey one, but the Iron Man one is really stretching it.
to my understanding in Japan if your got for plagiarism for one thing all of your work is looked down upon and shamed. Your career would pretty much be done for.

The Stratovarius and Journey ones are almost identical.
So they changed Raditz hole in his chest to resemble a dark hole, rather then something we all face in reality at all ages, blood. Yep why didnt we just have our parents tell us we have dark holes in our selves lol.

yeah, i mean the anime recently hasnt been that badly censored, ive seen some instances like the cell jr and ssj2 gohan punching, kicking and more or less tearing them apart with their heads coming off, in the dub they just took the explosion and put it before the graphic stuff happened so he looks like he kicks them into dust instead. i could have sworn they didnt censor the raddits chest hole in the series like they did in the games, which is silly, kids are more likely to see the tv show as its free to watch on tv, than in a game their parents or someone has to actually commit to buying.

this is extremely well known. early rpg developers operated with very little funding and frequently held contests for manga artists to develop artwork for their games. this process not only brought akira toriyama's work to new audiences, but simultaneously sparked japan's love of rpgs (through dragon quest) and forever intertwining the manga/anime aesthetic with the modern 'jrpg'.

I'm glad I still own the original copy of Budokai 3, the Censorship completely ruined the epicness of Broly's attack and the OST wasn't all that great compared to the original Budokai games.

Dude, I could not disagree with you more. Sure Tenkiechi can really capture the feeling of what it'd really be like to be in one of the show's epic battles. But come on? Everyone fights the same. All those characters, and there are only like six different fighting styles, based on body size. With the occasional "unique", or rather less distributed, attack sprinkled in. Also half the roster are transformations, that weren't even transformable until later, and were not made stronger, have special limitations, or any kind of strategy at all.
Plus a chuck of the characters were lame space filler, no cares about. Not even the development team, obviously...
Budokai 3 on the other hand, had a large enough roster (it really did), with a ton of depth. Every one fought unique and had their own strategies to implement. Made even deeper by the character customization. There was no end to how you could set up each fighter, I personally took the time to make everyone on my roster fight like they would in the show, like how I gave Dr. Gero the heart virus and vaccine. And the system was actually very balanced. I really liked that if you loaded Goku up with all the Sayian Transformation, there was no room left for items or attacks. So you were powerful, but predictable. But a Goku who couldn't transform at all was weaker, but also had way more options. Then of course, there's that happy middle ground and everything in between.
Also the attacks were much more attractive, lovingly animated and visually striking (Broly's blaster shell's come to mind). Tenkiechi's specials on the other hand, all looked the same. Everyone had the same lifeless flat colored beam or lifeless flat colored ball, again with a few "unique",i.e. less distributed, specials sprinkled in.
I'm sorry, but compared to Boukai 3 which was the DBZ fighting game nearly perfected. The Tenkiechi series, while at times a fun diversion and ambitious, was hardly a worthy follow up.

1. The most important one: An open world dragon ball Z game that let you fly around the earth and do whatever you want as well as fly or run to your missions, also be able to do the same on Namek, the other world, and maybe even space if you're playing with characters such as Frieza

The first one already existed. It was an mmorpg set 100 years after the main cast of dbz are finally dead for real this time. Toriyama was quite involved with its production. The game lasted about a year in Japan and China and another year in Korea before it finally had to be shut down due to the lack of people actually buying/playing the game.

You asked, I answered. I was not wrong in my answer either. Just because you are not happy with it doesn't make it cease to have ever existed. Even if you changed your statement to "1. The most important one: A good open world dragon ball Z game that let you..." then the interpretation of "good" is still open to debate and some would argue that my example was "good". Might I suggest "Dragon Ball Z: Legendary Super Warriors"? It is an offline game that follows the story and allows you to explore areas as you progress through the story.

I loved Final Bout as a kid, made no sense at the time. I remember being incredibly confused by Baby in the Giant Ape form, I thought he was a Saiyan who wanted to destroy his own species, not knowing at the time that he was a metal thing.

Interesting stuff. I was originally under the impression that the DragonBall games got a really late start in the US. I can sort of see why Raditzs death was censored, but I don't think censoring Brolys attack was all that necessary.

Sometimes I'm saying 'censorship is a lot less strict nowadays' then I see stuff like this that shows that society has become less strict on some things but more strict on others.
It's not "society" censoring the game, it is the game company changing it to try and fit into what they think society wants. You can do just about anything you want in a game in regards to imagery, nudity, and violence- just look at Dante's Inferno.
AngelBunnyFooFoo Society is the reason they censor a game. If society doesn't find fault in what it shown, the companies won't censor it.
As much as I love the Budokai series, that HD collection can go to hell. No Budokai 2, no original soundtrack, pointless censoring, and Budokai 3 is vanilla Budokai 3 instead of Infinite World. Being in HD doesn't make a difference if they're gonna screw with everything else.
Would've liked to have heard some more info on the EU release of Final Bout.. I live in Holland and everyone I know who had that game had the menus in what seemed like French, the voices in Japanese if I remember correctly. Still don't know what was up with that.

Legacy of Goku series and the Budokai Tenkaichi series are really the only good DBZ games out there. All others are just, shabby and half assed by comparison.
Personally I thought the tenkaichi series was garabage. I mean they took out mid match transformations. Which to this day I cant fathom that. My personal favourite is Budokai 3

Ok but can you pre select super saiyan for example? and start as Goku in ssj1 even if you can transform into ssj from base Goku? Cos in the budokai games transforming actually gives you a power up. So I imagine it wouldn't power you up if you have the option to start mid game or it would be unbalanced. If you cant pre select and it does give you an actuall damage bonus then I may have to check it out. Still though the fluidity of fights and teleporting in B3 was still awesome as hell

Certain transformations offers a boost in power. SSJ4 Goku / Vegeta / Gogeta, as well as SSJ2 Teen Gohan makes them all attack much much faster.
But no, it does not give an actual damage boost ,however, they do get new movies when they power-up, new attacks, more powerful Ki-blasts.
For instance, Goku's Regular Kamehameha is replaced with super-kamehameha in SSJ2 form.
Raging Blast 2 is one of the best in my opinion. Basically a revamped version of the Boudokai Tenkaichi series, only with less characters sadly.

i wish that someone would make a sandbox DBZ type game... Create your own Z warrior, train and do quests with the characters of DBZ in a story mode..... won't ever happen

Just in case no one has mentioned that in Dragonball z Budaki 3 HD if you use Broly in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber stage, there is no flash when he slams his foe into the ground.

I have dbz budokai 3 and they have a badass soundtrack as well as fun fighting mechanics, this is an extremely fun game
I'm surprised I didn't notice those musical homages, especially since I've played the Budokai series to death and am a fan of all three bands mentioned.

I hated how Budokai 2 played it felt weird.
Budokai Tencaishi 3 was the best DBZ Game in my opinion.

TheGreatGrokuSan Although thats what it sets it apart in my mind from other games, I prefer it for lots of other things:
1)No fucking quick time events
2)Open map fighting, not like the newer ones as Ultimate Tenkaichi, where you movement area is very limited. If you played the game or seen an LP video, you know what i mean.
3)Your not forced to take super moves, etc, etc. No, you can choose to move away or counter it with you own, and you can use any attack to counter. For example you can counter a Spirit Bomb with a Dragon Punch. Its not only a beam attack vs a beam attack, etc,etc.
4)Lots of moves to use. Going back to Ultimate Tenkaichi, your only fighting moves are to use the square or triangle to prform combos, after which you go to a quick time event where your only options are to press the last button you use before the quick time event + Up, down, left right to alternate the sequence. It gets old real quick.
5)You can "interact" with the map. By this i mean, that when you blow up something in the map, like the lookout or freezer ship, in their respective stages, it stays that way, the terrain doesn't repair itself. Come to think of it, being able to destroy the lookout is alraeady good in itself.
6)The fight don't get repetive for the reasons above.
i got dbz bt3 and Ultimate Tenkaichi was a let down but i liked the fact you could have your own character

8000Kakaroto They also made the game hard as F*ck compared to the original. I can barely beat krillen's storymode not to mention I still to this day refuse to use capsules in the game.

Budaikai 3 is still the best DBZ fighting game ever made. I still don't know why that changed the format after that and still haven't went back
It required a lot of ability rather than luck as the new games, that are filled with animations rather than gameplay.
Budokai 2 was the best ever made.
