Very nice video, I like how you framed it as an experiment. I've been keeping a pocket notebook like this for about six months now and have found it very useful. It's a very convenient and easy way to note down anything without having to rely on your phone, and at the end of it you have a snapshot of a certain period of your life, which I love. I completely understand and relate! Having bits and pieces of information spread across several areas can be very overwhelming - where too look first for important information?! I am planning on doing a full video where I show how to allocate different bits of information to other places, but in the meantime, I will explain it briefly here as well 😇 My current planner system consists of my pocket notebook, a Hobonichi Weeks planner, and a commonplace notebook (I also have a pocket bujo, but it isn't relevant here lol). I will sift through my pocket notebook at the end of each day and decide what to do with each piece of info. If it's a completed to-do, I scrap it; if it's a piece of information that I want to keep (like a lifehack, or a quote), it goes to my commonplace notebook; and if it's a task or to-do that isn't date-specific, I will throw it into my Hobonichi Weeks! I was wondering how to merge them, what to use in the bullet journal etc. You provided mw with a solution: Journaling in the small notebook and then migrating the things that are worth migrating into my bullet journal or my commonplace notebook. That also saves my bullet-journal from becoming cluttered. I also liked your analogy about the landing place and the beehive, thats exactly how I see it. @lillabjornstationery Generally, yes. I like the aesthetic, but I also like how they are 48 pages. That's enough to cover a significant period of time, but not too much that it becomes overwhelming. Log and Jotter books are 40 pages. I use those on occasion as well.
@@Ashley-d1m For me, I do a regular flip through of my entire book every day, which is one of the main reasons why I use the smaller pocket notebooks. Reviewing under 50 small pages a day is quick, and I have visual shortcuts on the page that I use to tell me if I can skip pages or a series of pages.
So neat! I would love to use a pocket notebook, but they've always felt too small for my handwriting and everything I tend to write down.... But maybe I should try again!
The n 1 thing I always think about when considering starting this is: what will I do with this notebook when I’m finished? What do you guys do with it - throw them away, keep collecting them….?
Genuine question. How do you stay in touch with your parents / loved ones if you don’t touch your phone? I want to try this but I am worried that they will worry about me
I'll usually just start with the date at the top of the page and then write as much as I'd like -- I don't want to limit myself to one page per day. For this experiment, I wrote every single day, but I can see how some people might benefit from only dating this notebook when an idea comes to them (ie. not feeling pressured to use it every day) ☺
The truth is we don't need to write everything down. We don't need to constantly be taking notes or making lists. We don't need to be constantly entertained or stimulated. Truly I say this with all the love in my heart because I've watched a few of these notebook videos and I see the same inherent mistake that people make with their smartphones. That is the constant need for stimulation and the constant need for interaction with something other than our own minds. Certainly there are some things we should write down but they are not nearly as prevalent as what is generally depicted in these notebook videos. It makes no sense to write down lists of things you'll never do. The truth is if you don't do it right now it probably won't get done.
The "if you don't do it right now, it will never be done" is the exact mindset I have right now and IS HARMFUL!!! Why? Because I get bogged down with only the momentary thoughts and actions and never something of true meaning and long term achivement. Yes, we don't need to write everything down, but I would rather write it down than forget about it entirely! Especially if that something is a thought towards my own betterment in the long run!
Would you try this experiment? 🤔
Totally! I can't say I'd remember to keep up with it tho lol 🙃

@@Amidst_the_Grey Thanks! 😊
How to refer to things quickly if needed or do you just flip day by day?
@@Ashley-d1m For me, I do a regular flip through of my entire book every day, which is one of the main reasons why I use the smaller pocket notebooks. Reviewing under 50 small pages a day is quick, and I have visual shortcuts on the page that I use to tell me if I can skip pages or a series of pages.
So neat! I would love to use a pocket notebook, but they've always felt too small for my handwriting and everything I tend to write down.... But maybe I should try again!
If you feel restricted by the size, you could get an unruled pocket notebook instead (ie. completely blank), it might help? 😇
@lillabjornstationery True! Thanks for the idea!
@lillabjornstationery I really enjoy your videos btw! Not too long, not too short and very fun to watch/listen to.🤗
@@hannahclark8313 I am so happy to hear that, thank you so much 🥰🥰
Ben Franklin would be happy you like his quote. Clearly he was a planner.
Haha I'd like to think so 😉
I also use a small notebook to write down what planners I bought for 2025. Haven’t reached planner peace yet.
I have a planner breakdown in almost every single notebook I own haha! Don't worry, you have time to figure out the perfect system for you 🥰
I’m glad to see that not only are you holding the pen in the correct hand but ,you’re also holding your wrist straight.
As a lefty, I can’t tell if this is sarcasm, but thank you haha 🤣🙏
Amazing video
So glad you enjoyed! 🥰
Thank you!
I'm glad you enjoyed 😇
The notebook that I use is of a similar formatting, just more decorative!
Ouu! What type of decorations do you use? 😊
@ stickers and tape, I also paste drawings I do!
Love this !
Thank you! 😄
I decided to try right now, looks like a really great ideia (sorry for the broken english lmao)
That's so exciting! Let me know how it goes 😊 (your English was perfectly understandable btw 😉)
Wow! I want to try this experiment (and spearmint tea!)...oh, and, I definitely did not see any Christmas presents for me 😇
Omg well I hope not haha! You should try it 🥰
I like the size of your dot grid notebook - do you have a link to which one you're using? Thanx
It's the Dingbats A6 notebook, here's the link! ca.dingbats-notebooks.com/products/wildlife?variant=40714359537715 (Not an affiliate link)
The n 1 thing I always think about when considering starting this is: what will I do with this notebook when I’m finished? What do you guys do with it - throw them away, keep collecting them….?
For me, since all of the important information gets migrated, I will be throwing mine out 😇
Genuine question. How do you stay in touch with your parents / loved ones if you don’t touch your phone? I want to try this but I am worried that they will worry about me
@5:33 would make a great song lyric or title
Waittt, now that you mention it... 🤔
Hi, what are those translucent page markers?
Do you use a separate page for each day for each thought or you just start listing them?
I'll usually just start with the date at the top of the page and then write as much as I'd like -- I don't want to limit myself to one page per day. For this experiment, I wrote every single day, but I can see how some people might benefit from only dating this notebook when an idea comes to them (ie. not feeling pressured to use it every day) ☺
I have no cellphone .paper notebooks are so much better in every way°
Wow, I wish! I respect that level of digital minimalism 😇
What notebook are you using in this video?
It's the Dingbats A6 dotgrid notebook!
Mehta pocket notebook is this!?
The brand is "dingbats". 😉
Dingbats A6 pocket notebook!
Shh 🤫
