Hei, thank you so much for imparting this message. I'm currently trying to fix my life, restart from the beginning. One of the things that is hard to ditch during this journey is my perfectionism. Your comment hits me so much to let my perfectionism aside by being "cringe".
What I chase is perfection, it's impossible to reach it, but it's a goal where you can keep chasing for the rest of your life, one book helped me with this a lot and its the power of the female aura on lentlish!
I think I might be broken. I have no qualms busting out my journal or sketchbook in public and had never thought twice about it before, but now you have made me wonder if everyone in the coffee shop thinks I am a weirdo 😅
Nope you're not broken. Before smart phones we read books and wrote in notebooks anywhere we wanted to, without fear of who might be judging us. I'm likely never going to run into any of those people again, so why care about what they think?
Not broken. I’ve never thought twice about it either; I think it comes down more to whether or not you’ve learned to judge that behaviour (e.g. think it’s ”cringe”). That has to be unlearned for some, but many of us never picked up that judgement in the first place
If you are broken for this, then I am just as broken. Coffee shop, waiting rooms of hospital or even trains. I'll happily bust that (in my case BuJo (Bullet Journal)) journal out and write or doodle😂
At age 54, I commend you for the wise actions you’ve taken to find yourself and discover your motivations and passions. These are skills that I still use today as age brings wisdom but the underlying undulations of our lives continue. Goal setting, planning, and self reflection and awareness has made we wealthy, healthy, and more in touch with how to solve the internal and external challenges of life. Play on sister…play on.
Funny I've always had a notebook or sketchbook out in public and i love it when people look. Usually its with curiosity and like "wow Id like to try that". Its been very rare ive had even a bad look and even then i just think its funny. Like "oh no im writing on paper and you dont approve. Whatever will I do?" lol makes me feel like a rebel
Dude, this video is incredibly well-edited and super engaging. You really have an eye for video making. I can definitely see myself coming back to it whenever I need a little inspiration. Hopefully you are keeping up with it all!
Hey Audrey! This is a wonderful video. It's equally informative and interesting/entertaining as it is familiar. This is good advice packed into a well thought out storyline, and I like the editing as well as the mixture of shots of you talking and videos from moments. I completely relate to everything in this video, including the piano part, and I'm hoping to do the same for myself in the coming week to properly set up for the new year. This is what youtube was meant for, sharing great videos with each other about what we found great. Sending good vibes from new york. P.S. My best advice for people in similar spots, just get started. Grab a notebook or a piece of paper, and a pen, and write down aspects of your ideal life and then redo that, but realistically and with habits that you can do right now to live a life like that. Good luck to all of us in the new year!
Now get yourself a fountain pen! For starters, I can recommend a Lamy Safari, Kaweco Sport, TWSBI Eco. So many people journal and urban sketch. There are tons of communities. Be you and do your thing. Don’t be one of many.
Hello from America, Audrey! I'm old enough to be your Dad (and maybe even your Granddad), but I've recently come to many of the same conclusions you have. I'm trying to wean myself away from digital devices by using pen and paper to take notes and keep a journal. Keep using your notebook to get your life back on track and plan to do the things that YOU want to do, not the ones that everyone else says you should do. Do the things that make you genuinely happy. Keep playing piano and making flower arrangements, if that's what you want to do. If "Fear of Missing Out" (FOMO) hits, just think of it this way: It's not that you are missing out on the cool stuff your friends are doing--it's that THEY are missing out on the cool stuff YOU are doing! The description for your channel says, "I'm not an expert." I'll let you in on a little secret: No one is. We're all trying to make our way through life, trying to figure out what works for us. I'm glad you've found something that works for you. Keep doing it! Cheers!
Its true life feels so pathetic and small when you're on your phone. I have to prepare for my pre-med school exam and I am here ruining my potential future. When I have my exams I have to travel and it's like 1 and hour journey so I start studying, it doesn't feel weird cause I am worried about my exams. But when I simply put a notebook the thought of how everyone around me is perceiving it felt wierd I mean won't they think I am showing off that I am studying kind of? Now I am gonna do what everyone else isn't. From 4 year old kid to 60 year old I have seen many just consuming that shitty reels and.shorts. I don't have instagram and shorts are blocked but sometimes I just doomscroll. I need to get up and do things that makes my life better not depressing. Thank you (: you earned a subscriber 🎀✨
Go, go, go! To do is a GREAT day to build a better day than yesterday. I read your comment and decided to log out of my FB and IG as well. RUclips is my crutch. Maybe I will delete it. I really hate Xmas and there's no imagination but fantasizing about cozy seasons, aesthetics and vibes instead of Living. Good luck.
Absolutely love this video. I could listen to your thoughts process and strategy all day as I relate to you. Keep up and I would love to see more content from you. I'm subscribing right away ! 🌷
There is another aspect to this, and I got it from Bertrand russels book Conquest of happiness. The thing you get through doomscrolling is also noise, and noise stresses you out. When you put away your phone and / or pause the computer, there is suddenly no more backgrund noise trying to get your attention. When you experience this the first time, the noise seems to go on for a short time, then it gradually vanishes. Noise is a stressor, unwanted or incessant noise can be a significant source of irritation and unhappiness. When you journal in your notebook, the absence of sound through the screen is hopefully gone.
I’ve been journaling, off and on, for over… 40 years! 😮 When I got back into it in my mid-20s, it was jarring at first, but my life became much more peaceful and enjoyable. And while it’s hard not to after a while, collecting journals and pens (or other things to journal with like watercolors, washi tape, etc) can become a form of procrastination… 😅
This is a good video! I will say, the mis-edit with mono sound through the right headphone in all voice overs is really jarring, but it's still watchable. Just something to keep in mind! :)
I deleted my social media accounts (except YT, for that I just deleted the app off my phone, I seldom watch on my browser, mostly weekends WHILE I'm working on something that doesn't require my immediate attention) at the start of this year as I was (still am) preparing for my medical entrance exam next year. What helped me... 1. Deleting my Social media ACCOUNTs, not just the app (may be hard for some people, but this will etch your choice in stone, wayyy more effective than just uninstalling and reinstalling the app). 2. Not counting the days. Yes, don't count the days, this is a choice, a way of life. You're not doing this for a "certain amount of days". What are you gonna do? Count the days for the rest of your life? Nope. I made the choice and that's that. This is how I live now. This happens in addiction too, I don't want to get into this, quite a long and multidimensional topic this one is... But this is one of the reasons people fail to quit. One of them, quite a major one at that. They count, like it's a trial period, something temporary. When somebody asks if you want a smoke, you don't say "No, I quit 3 days ago, I'm trying to quit". You're still identified as being a smoker, you say "No thanks, I'm not a smoker". Identity shift is REALLY important! 3. The time that was saved by not spending on Social Media, binge watching movies or YT is now being used for "hobbies", namely - reading, learning to play the piano, and I've (very recently) started to write rhymes (poems) and prose which may just be kept for me and posterity maybe, haven't decided that. But THAT'S the power! I NEVER wrote, thought I couldn't write when I was younger. I'm 21 now and now my experience is TOTALLY different. I'm doing things and experiencing life in ways I never though possible. I'm spending time with my family (especially Mum and Dad) for I don't know how long we have together. MORTALITY, you must be aware of. You never know which goodbye may be the last goodbye. I recommend spending time on RUclips by watching Cal Newport if you want to watch. I much strongly recommend reading Atomic Habits and ALL of Cal Newport. Life is short, and you don't know HOW short. We're young now, but I remember being 10 and 21 seemed far away, well here we are. We won't be young forever, the youngest we are was in the moment that just went by, at this moment, the next we won't be as young as we were before. Let's live a fulfilling life. Be aware of the mortality of us, our loved ones, and everyone around us and tread the world a little more kindly. This wasn't all I wanted to say, I still have more, but this will do for a comment, many won't even read the whole of this, some may skip through it reading only parts (like my sister does)... But if you read this in full. I hope you don't take your life too seriously, we're only a brief pop-up on this planet, neither be you too callous as to shorten an already short life. I bid you farewell, I don't talk like this irl, don't worry, I just like to write like this, makes for a rather interesting read if I say so myself. Very happy for you! X
to avoid stop mindless scrolling trough social media and live my life comfortably at peace and at the end of 2024 i will left usless and not neccessary toughts to make my whole day positive in 2025
When I'm on the train or metro, I draw portraits of people around me. At first it felt uncomfortable to stare at strangers and draw them, and I was afraid that some got upset. But I quickly realized that NOBODY CARES. They're all minding their own business and nobody is paying attention to what I'm doing even when actively staring at them. So never feel weird to be writing on your notebook in public, because the only person who actually give a fuck about what you're doing is yourself (and maybe your mom occasionally)
the most beneficial way to journal is too just write shit down. don’t constrain yourself to only writing certain things. if you want to remember something write it down, if you are having trouble working through a problem, write it down, walk yourself through it on paper. it is WILDLY beneficial.
I'd like to compliment you on your wisdom. You've really struggled yourself out of the digital stranglehold and too many people of your age don't even realise their lives are being controlled by doomscrolling and the negative bias. Even for me - with quite a bit more life experience than you - you are an example
May be my imagination, but you look different from the beginning of the video to the end. Obviously the same person, but happier. Less stressed. Curious if you felt that.
please, please. PLEASE. Edit the video with headphones. Why? Because there are two sound channels, right and left. Right now I'm watching a video from a laptop with headphones and I listen to your voice with my right ear, and the background music with my left. And all the efforts on editing, pictures and an interesting topic go to waste, because of the annoying sound. But the topic is interesting, thank you
