  • This 2004 Volkswagen Jetta TDI was driven down to our shop by a customer who said that the car wouldn't start for him at work it just cranked and cranked. I DID some testing to find out that the lift pump was weak and replaced the filter at the same time. This is the filter replacement video. If you want to see the lift pump testing and replacement video here is the link. • 2004 VW Jetta TDI BEW ...

These VW's might be maintenance heavy, but god bless the engineer that put the filter up under the hood.

Fill the new filter with Liqui Moly Diesel Purge for a quick injector cleaning and an easy start without any other work. The filter has almost exactly the same capacity as the can of Diesel Purge. Diesel Purge is made to run directly through the system without being mixed with fuel so this won't hurt anything.

Great video that was clear and helpful. But I feel like there were a few very important steps skipped over possibly? Like where did you hook that gauge line into ? Sorry if that’s a silly question. Thanks for the helpful video though !

I wish you would have showed where you attached the pressure gauge and from what point are you bleeding the fuel, which sounds like it’s spraying into a container.

My filter didn't come with a rubber ring that he popped out at :37. Guess it's just there for protection of filter?

It’s should just be there to prevent debris from entering the filter during shipping. Not all filters have the plug installed.

What type of automatic transmission fluid can you use on the tdi bew motors

I would check with the dealer by VIN number as there are several different transmission options available and the fluid changed a few times over the years

On a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta TDI 1.9 does the dash have to be removed to replace the heater core ?

Normally and they are not fun. I’ve done one Jetta and one passat. Both had to come apart piece by piece. Many electrical connectors are the same and can be swapped to label stuff as you come apart.
