    Ozzy had his Howling Young Voice + Iommi's early metal sound there's really nothing better than that time period for them.... Nothing will ever sound that good again..... the planets aligend and spawned 4 of the most hellacious musician's ever....

    The sounds still send chills down my spine. This is the best I've heard Ozzy's voice on this song. It's hard to believe it's been almost 40 years since these guys broke. One thing for certain, they don't come like this any more. LONG LIVE THE MASTERS!

      @@davesaenz3732 I would give them like half or less than half credit of it. It was Cream, Hendrix & others in 67/68 before Sabbath did any heavy experimental stuff. But yeah they did became the “first metal band”

    This is the only band that can make this sound quality sound like it was supposed to be this way. Love how fast its played at parts. And Oz's voice is insane.

    Is it bad that I love the image that this song paints in my mind? One of my all time favorites. The first metal song ever written! The song that started it all. If they only knew back then what they had created. Long live the mighty sabbath! \m/

    No Not Paris 70. Paris 70 Ozzy says "Tell that bloke to shut his trap" in the introduction. It's from The Fillmore West 11-27-70 Bootleg.

      No,this was recorded at the very end of 1970. Ozzy even says this track is off our first LP which was released 69/70.

      @@willb1156 I hear you. But I dont think there was anything faster and heavier in 1968/70. This is the band that influenced Metallica, Van Halen, Pantera, Megadeath, and countless of other metal bands. Playing fast isn't always great. You start to lose heaviness and creativity. This riff has the perfect balance. Feel free to post any songs you like to share. I am trying to find a good thrash metal song/band. Keep on 🎸

    the tape this originally came from was recorded slightly slower then the playback speed used here, this is why is sounds slightly fast.
    You can clearly hear the slight upwards shift in Ozzy's vocals (his voice was actually low back then) plus the ending (guitar riff) is WAY faster then normal.

    Nevermind, I lied. This is the 'Toronto 7/18/1971' recording. Both shows play the same intro to 'Black Sabbath' and both are bootlegs that run fast w/o speed correction. Sorry for the confusion.

    This is the San Francisco 11/22/1970 recording. The bootleg runs terribly fast (as you can hear), but there's speed corrected versions out there. If you can get a hold of one of those, it's a good listen.

    Bad ass just bad ass. Ozzy really knows how to set the scene here. He paints the picture from Geezer's nightmare perfectly. And apparently when played live, this song would scare some of the crowd. BLACK SABBATH the name says it all.

    Ozzy's voice wasn't that high even back then. This bootleg recording is from vinyl, the turntable used to record the vinyl from wasn't playing at the proper speed.

    for me the best thing about earlier Sabbath,they sounded good live n lp ect,i saw them 1st MSG show in NYC n was amazed how nice it sounded,id love to see them in small gig as this sounded... thanks for post...still one the best lps the 1st Sabbath lp cause it was nothing like it n spawned alot good more aggressive rock to sprout. simple but powerful...like motorhead s 1st us tour,simply loud,aggressive n real deal..saw then at capital theatre in Passaic NJ.. 3rd row..never head band so loud...these guys where a rare act..

    I saw this on GTK,,,,in Australia in the very early 70's....there is a video of them playing this song...I've seen it but that was in the 70's.....heheh.....if you remember the 70's you weren't there....lol...I can't remember when.....

    Live in Toronto, Canada - 18/07/1971. I am not certain of this but this is the quoted bootleg date and place on many sites. Sounds about right to me...small..ish audience but very practised Sabbath!

    This generation or any other that didn't exist in those times cannot understand what concerts where like. Just because a few tunes were played between songs doesn't mean it's a rare bear; This style was used for the keeping of the audience's attention while flying High. I there's lot of us out who remember. Good find though I'm sure those that attempted don't remember, but l do.

    Imagine hearing this in 1970. Nobody has heard anything like this before. So you can just imagine how confused and appalled people are. Going from the Beatles to this band talking about Satan, drugs, and other bizarre things. On top of all that, we got Tony riff master Iommi probably blowing everybody in the audience away. This was just a new beginning for everything
