I lived in Bloomington from 86- 98. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Saw some familiar places but a lot has changed. It's sad to see places like Jiffy Treat, The bookstore on the corner of Kirkwood and College, and nightclubs like the Bluebird and Jakes gone. Speaking of Cook, I knew two of his sons. They didn't work and spent all their time partying.
Just wanted to drop a line and thank you for these videos. We’re looking to move and have basically decided on Indiana and you have hit all the major parts we have looked at. Keep up the good work and don’t let the fools at work bother you too much!
11 mins of student off campus housing. You're driving the same streets .... you didn't do any research before you started. You need more of the actual campus/ the historic neighborhoods, some scenic areas - Griffey Lake, the hiking trails, the fishing, the sports complexes, the theaters, the Musical Arts Center the 'MAC', Lake Monroe, the Hoosier National Forest and the Charles Deam Wilderness Area. The parks and the art/music programs here. the best of NY but it's affordable here. It's a big small town. Tons of things to do every day/weekend here. I moved here for the academic diversity and the natural environmental beauty of its surrounding landscape. Ravines woods and creeks - green beauty and the colors in the fall. It's the best of both worlds. A great place to raise a family . My kids think the differences between people is a normal way to live.
I had a very bad experience with neighbors from India who were computer engineering students. They seemed so nice in the beginning when it was only two of them that moved into a junior one bedroom. A few months passed by and now there were 5 people living in that small place. They would make all sorts of noise in the middle of the night without consideration for people that needed to wake up early. They were not very clean either. I had a bad fly problem because of it. Once they moved the fly problem went away. Please be careful. It was a terrible experience. But the most concerning and disturbing part was that I suspect they where hacking my WIFI and invading my privacy. It was a very difficult experience especially since I don't base my opinion on race but on actions and behavior.
Good Lord: This video is riddled with factual errors about Bloomington. Don't make a decision to move here based upon this video. And yes, I've lived here for 40 years. And if the goal of your channel is to live well on less than $40K a year, you definitely don't want to live in Bloomington: our cost of living is the highest in Indiana because of the low wage base.
@@andrewslife1979 great video! I'm a incoming international student for iub, may I ask are there many big malls and high rise in the downtwon? I'm not famaliar with the small cities in the US.

Bloomington is hands down the best city in Indiana
Do you live there now? I used to and miss it so much!
Agreed. I lived there through my middle and high school years. Not an easy time with other kids, but I loved the city.

Your video didn't do it justice. Bloomington is one of the prettiest cities in Indiana.
