    I like Rich's approach to ask the client to teach him the pattern the client has gone through and now wants to change to live a fuller life.1) The client becomes the expert and gives the steps to reach a certain goal (here, not desired). 2) The client sees that if there is structure in a destructive pattern that was unconsciously set as a standard for themselves and then the possibility to create a newly designed and chosen pattern at their own will.
    Love this video. Great quality life coaching sessions like these are jewels.

    This actually got me to understand why we are so good at teaching others what we fail to teach ourselves. I believe that from every struggle we learn something for ourselves to take us to the next step but because we drown in the feelings we forget the main point 😊. Very insightful coaching session, I love the ‘change the perspective’ and ‘draw the key takeaways from a struggle’ approaches.

      I wondered about this interruption during a previous coaching demo. I found it really helpful. I have struggled to do so myself in previous coachings I gave... only to see the conversations is going nowhere and the client not getting a lot out. There was too much talking of the client without challenging beliefs and me leading the exploration.
      Thank you for the great catch. I will try it out and use the new awareness! :)

      I was wondering about this interruption and the method in which it was done. I was not sure if this would be considered rude since the rules of engagement were not clearly stated at the beginning of the session. I like to let people know at the beginning of the session that I may "lovingly interrupt" them so that we can maximize the effectiveness of the session by remaining in areas that we can directly impact.

    I appreciated his fabulous transition statement, using a positive emotion going from future to present. A good transition can be underrated and when forgotten turns the dialog into something mechanical vs a caring conversation.

    What was most powerful for me was talking about the future as if it were the present - knowing in your bones everything you are doing right - you already have all of the answers/choices you can make for a better life, if only you could tap into it like this!
    And talking about the present as if it were the past is also so amazing, it takes me out of the pain of the present experience and helps me see my unhealthy patterns clearly.

    One of the most vital things I've learned is that the coach asks probing question that enable the conversation to go deeper

  • @carolinarahe2684
    @carolinarahe2684 2 года назад +1

    The way he started the "session" I think it is one of the best I've seen. By putting her client into a perspective of a winner (her future self) she will become more comfortable, more secure and at ease when the time comes to talk about her present and her issues even her body posture changed. She already feels like a winner, so wouldn't be a problem to talk about her "past" I think. Also from the coach perspective, in a matter of minutes, he knows clearly what is his goal, where he needs to bring her client to and where to focus to start asking questions. I will call this technique "starting from the finale"...found it FANTASTIC! Thank you Ajit for sharing this.

Things I observed are he wasn't afraid to get present off the top, he takes pauses, he takes the client into future thinking and I really LOVED the technique of "Teach me how to make 3x the revenue and get burnt out?" This draws out the blocks that the coach and client could work on next if that is the desired goal. Thanks for this! I am registered for his 8 principles class and I cannot wait!

    Great insight.
    Having that confidence to pause is key and well done there. That was great to see. And becoming present.
    Perhaps for new coaches you might feel like you have to always anticipate the next answer or question to show you are "in control" where as its about leading and reciprocating and following the client as well, yes...??

      Great question, Vinod! In coaching, they are usually referred to as 'clients' or 'coachees'. You can choose whichever term feels most aligned with you. People tend to become offended when someone interrupts because their past idea of self-insignificance is challenged. I see how Rich doesn't give power to the clients' insecure feelings. Ideally, the maximum amount of curiosity he gives is enough to balance the clients feelings. It's kinda rooted in the Ancient art of Reiki: Healing without touch.
    Im good at interpreting energy in others and myself, whether they are near me or not.

    Hi Ajit, while Rich is a Master Coach with a superb manner and presence- I found his frequent interruption of the client's flow of speech with his own questions (even though to elicit more info) not in sync with my coaching philosophy and those questions seem pretty rushed as if to move to other parts of the conversation..and also as if to tick mark them on a checklist.

    • @mindvalleycoach
      @mindvalleycoach  2 года назад

      We appreciate how you wrote "not in sync with my coaching philosophy", that's amazing! It's so important for us as coaches to learn from different coaches, different methodologies, and different approaches to coaching, so we can choose what resonates with us and what doesn't. This is a true example of how you're choosing what to add and what not to add to your coaching style based on your values and philosophy. Thank you for sharing, Shalini ♥

    • @mindvalleycoach
      @mindvalleycoach  3 года назад

      Well, there are many ways to start a coaching conversation. In this particular example, Rich is asking the coachee what would make that conversation powerful for her by inviting her to envision her ideal future. It's just how you frame it, but in its essence, the coachee will define what she wants to take out of the conversation regardless. At least that from our point of view! Thanks for sharing, Tracy ❤

      Great question, Lindah! Remember a coach's role is to draw out the answers from within the client, not give them the answers. @cbbvuukkkuecvmpqrvxn 10 месяцев назад

    I have noticed that the coach often breaks the silence and breaks the client's words: normally this is prohibited during a coaching conversation by the coach; Is it okay to do this?
    I don't feel comfortable talking to the customer, I generally want the customer to vent as much as possible, obviously in a relevant context
    Thank you

    • @mindvalleycoach
      @mindvalleycoach  9 месяцев назад

      Great question! Although it is important to avoid interrupting the client, we do believe there are times and situations where clients can unconsciously go in circles or tangents and it's crucial for the coach to be able to identify these moments and bring them back to the present. And sometimes, that requires the coach to kindly stop the client.
      In the specific example of Coach Rich Litvin in this video, as it was a live coaching demonstration with limited time available, he did share with the volunteer coachees in advance that he'd be guiding the conversation to make the most out of the time they had. Therefore, it is also important to note that a coach should know when and how to use these tools adequately. We hope this clarifies your question!
